BET Awards 2008 Was Actually Good!

Dare I say it, the 2008 BET Awards was actually pretty good. Unlike years past, when the only things I could remember was the high level of coonery and buffoonery, this year’s award actually had highlights for me. Given, coonery was still rampant (*cough cough* T-Pain), it was not nearly as bad as it could have been.
Main highlight for me was Alicia Keys‘ performance, which included a ’90s girl band reunion. When SWV came out, I think I hollered in GLEE!! Their outfits notwithstanding, I was geeked to see them. Their voices were a bit off because they spent most of their performances shouting, but glad I was anyway.
Then En Vogue came out and I lost it!! “Hold on to your love…” I was taken back IMMEJATELY!! What did me IN was when TLC came out and sang “Waterfalls”. When they started doing the bounce, I squealed in GLEE and had to fan myself!! They GOT.IT.IN. Twas awesomely awesome!!!
Highlight & Lowlight: T-Pain.
If Sambo was alive to day, his name would be T-Pain. The dude has just become a live action cartoon. Between his shiny costume and yuckmouth, he is the ghost of Coon Past! But I hate to admit that I was thoroughly entertained by his performance. The star-studded performance included Rick Ross (please put on a shirt. That’s nasty!), Big Boi (I heart him so! Can’t wait for his album to drop), Ludacris (He should be my babydaddy. We’d make cute kids), and mo’ folks. Twas a rocking good time.
Rihanna: Someone ought to sign this girl to a modeling contract so she can just STOP singing. If her performance last night was not a plea for voice lessons, I don’t know what is. You can tell she spends most of her time putting together her performance dominatrix outfits. She needs to run to a vocal coach. Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200.
That’s all that really stands out in my head. BET ain’t make me want to bury my head in the sand ALL the way (maybe just halfway) with this year’s BET Award show.

I agree that the BET awards performance wise was better than usual. But the awards in itself is still a joke. People nominated that havent even put anything out in the last year, it being a total popularity contest and not really who put out the best products…
Alicia Keys hands down was the best performance of the night… and Chris Brown with Ciara and Ne-Yo for me tied for a close second.
In my opinion Rihanna did pretty well and your comments here should have been put toward say Ciara…that chick can dance her behind off but she know she cant sing…lol
and lil kim just looked a hot mess…
