Red Pump Meetup

[ 1 ] June 9, 2009 | Luvvie

Are you going to be in Chicago during the Blogging While Brown Conference? Well, on June 20th, the Red Pump Project is having a meetup in honor of the Beauty Blogger extraordinaire, Afrobella. Bella just moved to Chicago from Miami, and we’re welcoming her to our city of Wind.

There will be raffles, giveaways and food at the meetup, and a cash bar. It’s at this dope new spot called Three Peas Art Lounge, from 6-9pm on June 20th. All proceeds of the meetup will be going to the Chicago Women’s AIDS Project, the only organization in Chicago solely dedicated to providing gender-specific HIV prevention and care services to women at risk.

To register, go to the Event page. Capacity is only 50 people, so if you want to ensure that you will be able to attend, get your tix ASAP!

Oh, and ladies, Rock your Red Pumps for the meetup! Don’t have a pair? It’s your excuse to go buy some (like we all really need excuses to shop). Mkay so I know it’s tough times. You don’t HAVE to rock red shoes. But if you got em, rock em!

About The Red Pump Project
The Red Pump Project is an initiative to raise awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls, both directly and indirectly.

Created by Karyn and I, it began as a blog initiative on March 10th, 2009. We got 125 bloggers to “Rock the Red Pump” widget on their blogs to speak out about the issue of HIV/AIDS. It is now a national initiative with 16 ambassadors in 14 states, that are doing work on the ground and online to ensure that women are empowered with knowledge about HIV/AIDS and the issues surrounding it.
