Famous folks

Another Golden Girl is Gone to Glory. Here’s to you, Rue McClanahan!

I woke up yesterday to find out (via Twitter) that Rue McClanahan died. I bust out an EPIC *WALL SLIDE* all up through there! Not Blanche!!! Not now! I loved Blanche. She was the Matron Saint of Classy Geriatric HoSh*t. No one wore a floral negligee like Blanche. And her love of her bosoms was admirable. She was conceited and she KNEW she had a reason. Plus the super country accent? *hollers* BLANCHE!!!

Rue McClanahan was super talented and this is a huge loss. This makes me sad. Last year, I wrote about how old TV shows rocked, and Golden Girls was at the top of my list. When I wrote that post, there were 3 of them alive. Bea Arthur hadn’t passed then. All we have is ONE Golden Girl left now. One has died every year since 2008. Estelle Getty (Sofia) left us first. Bea Arthur (Dorothy) stole away to Jesus in 2009. Now Rue McClanahan (Blanche) don passed on to sit on the right hand of the Lawd.

Rue McClanahan

R.I.P. Rue McClanahan. Thank you for being a friend in my head.

Someone go anoint Betty White with some holy oil! *WALL SLIDES AGAIN* My eSis PBG started off a prayer circle with this: “Dear Lord, Let us keep Betty White. Please. Take anybody from FoxNews or the bamas from BP. Just let us keep MotherWhite.”

So I wanted to keep it going. My heart can’t take harm befalling Betty White. Rose is my homette. So join me as we pray for her safety. I’m even willing to bargain a couple of my ratchet habits. So I say this prayer of protection:

Dear Lord, can I sacrifice 2 baby lambs and 4 of Janice combs’ chinchilla coats? Wrap Your armor of protection around Betty White! I promise to not watch BET’s ratchetness or VH1’s troop of trifling trollops for 2 weeks if you keep Rose safe. I’ll even go a week without proclaiming my hate for Lil Duval if you let us have Betty White indefinitely. Please CC all the other deities. Vishnu, Buddha & ’em.

Golden Girls Betty White

*cries*

*sings*

Thank You for being a friend
Travel down the road and back again
Your heart is true, you’re a pal and a confidante
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the greatest gift from me to you
Was a card attached that said…

Thank you for a being a friend, Rue! Check out the best of Blanche on Golden Girls.

*WALL SLIDES* iCan’t. I’m all types of verklempt over this. Talk amongst yourselves. Topic to discuss:

Who was your favorite Golden Girl?

P.S. There’s an official Facebook page in memorial of Rue McClanahan. I’m a FAN!

Lawd! iCant deal. I heard about Rue mid morning yesterday and just decided not to go to work. That’s right, I took a day to mourn and watched an epic marathon of Golden Girls!
You can’t as me to choose a fave. I loved them all. Sofia officially made me want a Sicilian grandma. Ol girl was GANGSTA.
Dorothy reminds me of a Brooklyn version of my mama. Rose’s St. Olaf stories… And of course Queen of the Classy Heauxs hersself, Blanche. Her
overblown accent and love of her bosoms literally inspired me. I got mine EARLY and she showed they were nothing to be ashamed of.

We’ll miss you Rue. I know you, Bea and Estelle are keeping the Heavenly Hosts in stitches!

I haven’t been able to stop *wall sliding* since I heard about Rue’s passing. Blanche was the BOMB.COM!! I love myself a Southern Belle and she was the ultimate! She made HoSh*t look the best it ever has! Poor Rue…we’re sure gonna miss you.

If I had to pick a favorite GG, I’d go with Dorothy. She would read folks for FILTH and not blink an eye. She slayed folks where they stood and they never knew what hit them, including her fussy lil’ mama Sophia. Despite all that, she had a heart of gold, as did all the Golden Girls. That was one of the best shows ever to come on TV.

Let’s keep Betty White lifted in PRAYER!!

    Blanche, noooooooooo!

My favorite was Dorothy in all her sarcastic butchness. I was (and still am) a sarcasm queen so she was my she-ro.

And yes, I’m hella scared for Betty White given the annual pattern. o_O

Oh and I put this on Twitter but random Golden Girl’s Cheekie Fact: I used to think they said “and the heart attack would say, that you for being a friend”. Lyric FAIL.

Goodnight, Rue. Your lusty fierceness will be missed.

Sophia was my favorite, she could read and roast like no other, brought joy to my heart. Blanche is a close second though, bc you no how I feel about hosh*t….

Thank you for being a friend, Rue. Right before she went into the hospital, she was on a new show on Logo that I accidentally channel surfed by. It was called “Sordid Lives” and I ended up staying up til about 1 am watching the marathon. Sadly, the season (series?) finale was a cliffhanger scene with Rue. Awww, I wanna cry….

Way super hella late to this post, but it was a suggested link from something else I read today so, yaknow.

Anyway, the GIF from this one took me out – I watched that episode this morning on Hallmark (“But what happens when there’s only one of us left?”) and got misty as hell realizing Rose really is the only one left. SMH – testing my gangsta so early in to morning.
