Letters

Dear Amazon, Selling A Pedophilia Guide Book??? AWFUL!

I wasn’t even planning a sternly-worded letter this week. But as usual, something popped up to make one necessary. An evening post? Yes. It’s on THAT level of serious.

I was on Twitter when I saw this tweet:

I clicked on it, and what do I see but THIS:

"The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure." What. in. THE. Hell???

Dear Amazon,

What in all that is uncouth and awful is this??? “The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure: A Child-Lover’s Code of Conduct.” A manual for pedophiles on love and pleasure? *cusses in 4 languages and makes up own curse words.* THIS is beyond ridiculous. As if the title wasn’t bad enough. Then I read the description, which said:

“This is my attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certian rules for these adults to follow. I hope to achieve this by appealing to the better nature of pedosexuals, with hope that their doing so will result in less hatred and perhaps liter sentences should they ever be caught.”

Jesus hold my mule, my side-eye and be a fence because yours truly might don’t make it. This is so ridiculous that I don’t even know WHERE to start and what angle to tackle this from.

Pedophilia is one of the worst crimes EVER, in my book. When adults prey on innocent children and look at them as sexual beings, nothing good ever comes from it. NOTHING. Pedophilia and child sexual abuse ruin lives in the worst ways by leaving scars that sometimes NEVER go away. Child abuse (sexual and physical) leads to a cycle of crime and can become generational. Children being violated in such a way just pisses me the hell off and perpetrators are monsters who deserve very little but harm inflicted on them.

When I was in college, I was facilitator for a program that gave kindergartners through 5th graders info on staying “Safe, strong and free.” I was 40-hour trained mandated reporter and legally required to report any child abuse I was disclosed. We’d give workshops at different schools and afterwards, the kids were allowed to come speak to us privately. One time, a 6 year old told me her father “touched her in her special parts.” As I hyperventilated in my mind, I asked her “Where is he now?” Her: “They took him away to jail.” My heart just BROKE! My thug ALMOST failed but then I realized that I had to keep it together for that little girl.

Part of our training was us watching interviews of children who were sexually abused and a lot of times, they used art as therapy for them. They’ll tell children who were abused to draw where they saw themselves. Oftentimes, they’d draw a tiny version of themselves in a black hole because of the helplessness they felt. It was SO depressing to watch. Child sexual abuse is NOTHING short of traumatic and life-altering. Pedophiles don’t always abuse children BUT whoever abuses a child is surely one.

So for someone actually wants to FACILITATE this by writing a book about pedophilia? What the fuck? As if that wasn’t bad enough. To make matters worse, Amazon, you decide to CARRY this.

On Miss Jia’s Project New Era site, quoted this from MSNBC’s story about it:

Amazon issued a statement that will no doubt fuel the outraged comments multiplying on the “Pedophile’s Guide” Amazon page. “Amazon believes it is censorship not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable,” it reads. “Amazon does not support or promote hatred or criminal acts, however, we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchasing decisions.”

AND you have the unmitigated gall to defend your right to carry this book? A book with THIS TEXT??? OMG! iCANNOT DEAL! I just CANNOT!

Aight listen.

Since money talks, I’ll speak loudly. I REFUSE to shop at Amazon.com until this book is pulled down and you make a public declaration that this (and other things like it) will never be offered. Until then, Amazon, y’all can go straight to hell with a lycra gasoline suit on. I’m mad as hell!

Amazon, here’s a “FOOL SAT THE HELL DOWN” Gift Basket complete with a “GET SOME COUTH” candle set. This is appalling and disgusting!

F U Sincerely,

P.S. The guy who wrote this book needs to get a coupla things done to him on principle alone.

P.P.S. EVERYONE involved in the existence of this book FAILS at life.

Who shall be joining me and others to boycott Amazon?

Edit: Apparently, Amazon finally acquiesced and pulled the book off the shelves. It only took them THREATS OF BOYCOTTS! (-__-) It took mass threatening of money being withheld for them to do it. I see what you’re on. I SEE IT!

OMG are you serious? This is a hot mess. I mean really, so does Amazon sells books on how to murder, rape and dismember people? This is so sickening. I bet that they are watching the people that are ordering this book. I hope if anyone does order it someone shows up with the book and beats them with it.

im sooo fuggin grossed out by this!! free speech is abused so often by crackpots all over the nation. the mere fact that this loser prepared a text, submitted to an editor, who got it picked up by a publishing house, who successfully shopped this to amazon.com is frustratingly appalling. quite frankly, amazon can kiss my grits. ALL of my american dollars that would’ve been spent on christmas shopping at that site will stay in my damn pocket!

I am disgusted. I too will join you in the boycott of all things Amazon… Besides that I am just surprised that a publishing house picked this trash up. I spent 7 years working with abuse/neglected children and adults and to know that someone out there has a green light to spew this man/boy or adult/child love propaganda shocks, shames and a host of other descriptive words me to no end… My heart, mind, spirit and soul aches due to the things occurring now

I feel you, girl. This was atrocious to me.

I saw this shit today..and it saddens my heart that Amazon views this as censorship!! WTF?? This is not censorship, this is outright evil!! Amazon will NOT get one copper penny from me until this bullshit is taken down!!

    • November 12, 2010 at 2:07 am

Amazon just proved they don’t give TWO dambs about us. They just want our money. In spite of how uncouth some of their products are.

    Dear Luvvie,
I was repeated molested until i stabbed my stepfather when i was 8. Those event set the mood for the next 15 years of my life. I personally believe that every pedophile should be killed simply because they cannot be rehabilitated.
Unfortunately, i dont agree with you about this book issue. This person can write whatever the hell he wants to because this is America (and im sure you would hate for someone to tell you you caint blog dear). He has the freedom to openly express whatever the hell he want and Amazon would be left open for a lawsuit if they just up and removed it. People have the choice as to whether or not this is the literary selection for them same as i choose not to watch BET because my brain cant process that much fuckery at one time.
I find it amazing how many people are up in arms about a book but only 1 in 30 of them would actually raise a hand to help a child in danger.

    • November 12, 2010 at 1:53 am

Wow Hazy. Your story… That just hurt my heart.

And yes, the dude can write WHATEVER he wants. However, Amazon as a company has the right to refuse to sell ANY product. It won’t be illegal because it isn’t them trying to STOP production of it. It’s them not actively participating in it. That’s where MY problem with them lie. They should have refused to sell this.

BET is one thing. However, the same way the FTC can regulate that BET cannot show certain things, this book can be kept off Amazon.com

  11. November 11, 2010 at 7:30 am

I had just added my amazon book link to my blog an hour before I read about this yesterday. Guess what got deleted immediately? You guess it. I even canceled my pre-order of Decoded. I’ll actually drive to Borders to buy that book.

Some things just don’t need 1st amendment protections.

    • November 12, 2010 at 1:50 am

So true! 1st amendment is the excuse to allow a lot of uncouth and inhumane things to be said or printed.

While I understand that this is America, free speech, yada yada yada, there are times that it’s taken too far. This is one of them. Free speech is one thing, but I firmly believe you shouldn’t be allowed to use Free Speech as a platform to help others commit a crime. What he’s advocating for is a crime, and he knows, hence his statement “perhaps liter sentences should they ever be caught.” “Liter?” He should have a liter of poison dumped down his throat for that one. I’m disgusted and appalled, and won’t be supporting Amazon. They made a conscious decision to sell this book, just as any bookstore makes a conscious decision as to which books they will sell. Epic Fail on the part of Amazon, the publisher, the literary agent, and the writer. Boo Hiss on Amazon!
Chris Hanson bout to stalk this dude fareal. He gone get that fool…go Chris!

    • November 12, 2010 at 1:56 am

” Free speech is one thing, but I firmly believe you shouldn’t be allowed to use Free Speech as a platform to help others commit a crime.”

THANK YOU! Aiding and abedding is grounds for imprisonment. THIS counts in my book. And yes, Chris Hansen needs to knock on his door. I bet dude has child pr0n on his comp. I just don’t trust him.

  13. November 11, 2010 at 8:32 am

Yeah, that author is full of malarkey. Talmbout he don’t endorse pedophilia and hurting children yet he’s giving a guide for those who DO for THEIR love and pleasure? The frick?!! And this mofo has the nerve to encourage these sick ninjas to FANTASIZE about children they have been with? Oh, but make sure you don’t put pics up of these children or the big bad cops will get you. GTFOH…

I’m joining the boycott as well (and I STAY in Amazon). I mean, would they sell a book entitled, “How to Attack The United States, Terrorism Style?” Come on, son. I don’t condone censorship either, but some statements are said with the intention to HURT people. Not condoning it? That’s not censorship, that’s protection.

    • November 12, 2010 at 1:57 am

On Multiple levels this is disturbing. I read an excerpt from the book and felt like I was Jennifer Lopez in “The Cell”. I have an instant headace and am sick to my stomach. As a woman surrounded by people who have been sexually abused and as a survivor myself I am so upset right now. I am happy to report that they have taken the book down.

The sad thing is I have purchased books to move towards healing from Amazon and this is the equivalent of putting this book in the aisle next to the childrens area in Barnes and Nobles.

    • November 12, 2010 at 1:58 am

*HUGS* The book certainly leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I read that excerpt and was so disgusted that I didn’t even know what to do with myself. This comes down to Amazon feeling some sort of societal responsiblity. But the only thing they care about is money. Clearly.

I actually think you should take this post down now that Amazon has relented- or at the very least obscure the name of the book. Amazon may not sell it, but letting those creatures in human skin know the name of this book allows them to find it and read it. If anyone would take down their post of this book it would make it harder and harder to find.
