Dear Facebook, Why’s My Font So Small?

I logged into Facebook yesterday and thought my eyes were tricking me. Or that somebody had changed the resolution on my computer. Facebook has decreased the font size. So they’ve earned this week’s sternly-worded letter.

Dear Facebook,

Hey ‘Book. How you be? I see 500 million people are on it. Is this why you’re feeling yourself? WHY DO YOU KEEP CHANGING STUFF??? Everytime I get used to one of your invasive changes, you add another one the next week. And of course, I (and 499,999,999) other people grit our teeth and sign back in the next day.

Then yesterday, I realized that you’ve made yet ANOTHER annoying change. WHY is the font so small all of a sudden? I was all close to my computer screen, squinting and whatnot just to read.

NO MA’AM Facebook! Y’all will not give me cataracts because I wanna peruse your site. just NO!

Fix this. Fix it now! Lest I start a group called “People Who Want Facebook To Increase the Font So They Can Read Good.” Shoo… I’m 20-something and I found it tough. I can only imagine what the geriatrics are feeling about this (and trust there are millions who are active on there).

Next time you let your intern in your CSS file, tell him not to touch that part that said 12px. He changed it to 8 and sh*t, and y’all wannna make us all collectively go blind. IF you need stuff to work on over at FB Headquarters, figure out how to stop allowing promoters to invite me to parties like “This Is Why I’m hot” Thursdays. THAT’s what y’all need to figure out for a G. Shoo… Kthxbai!

Yours in addiction (otherwise I’d leave),

Was I the only one annoyed by this? Do you like the smaller font? Did you even notice?

Oh… are you a part of my FB Fan Page? Naw? SHOMMON! I add extra foolery there sometimes. We kicks it. Join!

Hilarious! I felt the same. At first I thought it was me and soon realized, no it was fb. I posted a comment telling them to get it together. When I was finally able to pull myself away from fb last night, my eyes were so damn sore, it was ridiculous. I’m like you, I refuse to allow my fb addiction, cause me permanent damage. I’ve already suffered enough b/c of this addiction LOL! I this morning actually just increased the text size via internet explorer cause my eyes can’t take it.

Keep us posted on fb’s reply. Great post as always Luv …

I was extremely annoyed. I have perfect vision, but I noticed immediately. I had similar sentiments… “If I am straining to read this, I can only imagine how the older people are feeling.” Not cool FB! Not cool at all!

I read this post and said to myself, what the eff is this fool talking about? The font size is the same as it always was. I closed the tab and went immediately over to Facebook. So there I am reading the minutiae of everyone’s lives in my newsfeed when suddenly I realize that my face is damn near pushed up against the screen and I’m squinting like a newborn baby trying to read the ish. Bah! Luvvie was right! The font is smaller!

Got lil’ old ladies trying to play their fb games & wondering why The Facebooks and The Innanets/Innawebs are making it hard on them! I’m bout to go cuss out facebook in a different language.

Glad to see it’s not me. I was cleaning up some extensions and when I returned to Facebook, I noticed the smaller font and wondered if it had anything to do with the extensions I deleted.

Like you, I want my larger Facebook font back the way it was. Please?

I just check facebook from my phone now. I think this is a field study that no matter how ratchet or user unfriendly facebook becomes…people will still log in.

    • November 3, 2010 at 2:02 pm

We don’t teach FB any lessons by logging in still. *sigh* I’m in their web of web addiction. *hangs head*

I too thought I was imagining it at first. It seemed like suddenly there was just tons of news but not what I really wanted to read. With the new font, I’m just skimming, not enjoying. I find I skim and leave, before I would be on for hours just browsing. My eyesight is fine, I just stare at a computer all day at work and want to relax at night and size 8 font is NOT relaxing! FB you are going to drive a lot of people to twitter and myspace. Stop insisting YOU know what’s best for us, ASK next time first! PUT IT BACK PLEASE! I want a button to dislike facebook changes ON Facebook!

If you don’t like the new, smaller FB font, press “ctrl” and the “+” key to increase the size. Re-post and share the tip. 🙂
