“The Game” Premiere Played Bald-headed Games! I Have Questions

So last night was the highly anticipated premiere of the TV show “The Game.” You know, the one that’s been off air for 2 years because CW kicked it to the curb. So fans lobbied for it like our health insurance depended on it. Yes, that one. BET picked it up and we all deep sighed and cheered at the same time. You know how BET makes us anxious. In spite of that though, we still rocked #bagginfoaf in our chairs in anticipation. The Game coming on was like Black folks’ World Series. We were HYPED about it.

So on 1/11/11, Melanie, Derwin, Malik, Jason, Kelly and Tasha Mack returned into our lives. And 30 minutes into the episode, my side-eye was ALREADY on. By the time it ended, I was looking all sorts of crazy. And I might have cussed a coupla times. Lemme break down my thoughts on it.

BET's The Game

That first 3 minutes where they showed where each character was now was full of giddiness. 2 years passed and they not so subtly caught us up on what was happening. So Melanie and Derwin are married. Derwin is now the superstar of the Sabres, the face of Nike and all’at good stuff. Tasha Mack is managing him and stil being a ball-buster. Melanie’s doing photoshoots, including one for Essence. Derwin’s baby mama, Janae, is still there, and dropped off his 2-year old (DJ). Jason and Kelly are divorced and Jason seems mad about it. Kelly got a Rihanna haircut. Malik is still an asshole and he’s boinking… Meagan Goode!

All this happened before the credit e’em came on. I think. Iunno. But it was definitely in the first 10 minutes. NOW that we’re caught up with that, I’ma give y’all my thoughts about the show in my version of tourette’s. Nawl… I’ma ask questions instead. Because I have many.

* Sooo… Melanie really dropped outta medical school? WHY though? She wasn’t doing much.

* I know they were trying to make sure they called DJ’s paternity into question, but why did they keep using the whole “But the boy’s light skinned with curly hair” angle to do this? Since when was it impossible for 2 brown folks to give birth to a light skin baby?

* Why did the scene with Melanie, the hand puppets and the baby make me nervous? That was quite awkward.

* Terrence J is now the person dating Tasha Mack? WHY does this make me so uncomfortabo? I mean, what happened to Rick Fox? Terrence J’s a cutie. He really is. But seeing him freaked me out. I wasn’t ready for that!! AT ALL.

* Why was Tasha Mack smoking a Black and mild? I mean we know she was hood before but she’s never been THAT hood. Tasha is boughetto, but that black was just… NAWL.

* Why is this new version of Kelly Pitts’ so odd and bimboish? The way this character was before is definitely far from what she is now. I know 2 years passed bout this heffa is acting BRAND NEW. They took her whole character and flipped her upside down. And it’s sooo odd.

* Why is Kelly and Jason’s daughter super tan with black hair, when she was lighter with blondish hair before? AND wasn’t she like 8 before? Now she’s an angsty teenager, with an actress who can’t act. She musta studied at the Lisa Raye School of Acting Sassy. I ain’t like her.

* Did everyone notice how The Game was shading a couple of the reality TV shows and random gossip that exist now? Kelly was basically playing Shaunie’s character from “Basketball Wives.” And Tasha Mack with Terrence J was clearly paying homage to Lebron James’ Mama sleeping w/ Delonte West.

* Who the heck thought it was necessary for Sheree from Real Housewives of Atlanta to make that raggedy “act by” cameo to talk to Terrence J? Betchu she had to audition 3 times for that non-role too. But who gon check her when she’s getting that check?

* Why did I get verklempt when Derwin was crying when he realized DJ wasn’t his? Oh, it’s cuz he FAHN. And FAHN men crying makes me really sad. Yeah, I’m shallow.

* Who DIDN’T figure out that Malik was gon smash TT’s girl? Stevie Wonder saw that coming. And shourrout to TT’s girl for going scuba diving on Malik’s nuts. That was interesting.

* Who else wanted to mollywhop Melanie for her perpetual F*ck ups? That ending MURKED ME! She coulda told him right there and then but alas…

* Why was this show such a dumbed down version of the original, with countless cliches and even MORE drama?

* Why will I be tuning in to watch next week? Cuz I’m a glutton for punishment and I don’t learn my lesson easily.

* Are y’all SURE it’s the same writers from the original CW The Game a this one? Those characters all lost their likeability and they all seemed to be completely different from before. I understand that 2 years have passed but the characters are just…

* Is BET the devil’s headquarters and Debra Lee his right hand man? Why did I expect BET to keep the quality of the show the same? I blame myself for having higher expectations.

So what did you all think about “The Game?” Are you tuning in next week?

Amen, a LOT of what she mentioned I was thinking too. ver-ba-tim

I won’t know if I want to watch again until 9:59pm next Tuesday

I was suspicious just from seeing the previews. Look at them in that picture you posted! So fake and weird!

I was most disappointed by Malik and how mean he was. He was always douchey, but not like that. And the whole weird Kelly thing…why?? I liked her before! Even still, I’m going to give them another chance next week. Sigh…

I thought – not all the orginal writers returned?

I’m going to try and research that.
I highly doubt they were able to secure all of them.

I don’t know if they have all of the writers – that seems unlikely.
They have the head writer, though.
TV show writers can swap out season after season and quality shouldn’t suffer if your head writer and show runner are any good.

      They didn’t.

Akil discusses the sacrifices the show had to make in order to continue on after CW in this New York Times article: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/09/arts/television/09game.html?_r=1&ref=television

Apparently, writers who are funny was one of them.

The piece says they have a smaller writing team, pulled from the original one.

You said everything I felt. Janae creeped me out when she bought the same bag Melanie had and said it looks better on her. EVERYONE saw that Malik was going to smash ole girl, can’t really blame him, TTs girl a hoe. Her boyfriend caught her and she got right back down and give brain?! Girl boom. People throwing shade at Melanie’s decision, but I may have done the same, Derwin won’t smart enough to do it. If you not married, heck, sometimes even if you are, a paternity test should be required. This show was doing the absolute most last night. They were trying to hard to catch up they were all over the place. BET was throwing MAJOR shade at Basketball Hoes, I wonder did Shaunie try to get the show on EBT and they turned her down and now regretting the decision. When Kelly said she hand out a__ whippings and lollipops, I was dying! I will watch again, next week should be interesting.

Wanted to add: I think TT gone snitch on Malik bagging the owner’s wife.

    • January 12, 2011 at 8:57 am

I think so too! but he gonna push TT to do it.. Malik is an uber douche.

      • Kay
        January 12, 2011 at 9:02 am

When TT left out, I knew he was gonna run tell that!!! Malik is a used douche bag this season….

      Yep…TT gonna drop a dime.

    • Les923
      January 12, 2011 at 1:41 pm

Nope, i don’t think TT is gonna tell. The secret is going to come out and Malik is gonna swear that TT told but if you go back to that scene the restaurant owner brought the mop into the bathroom right when TT was telling Malik of about phukking his boss’ wife. So Malik is going to go hard on TT, probably try to take away his truck but I don’t think TT is going to tell. Even though Malik is acting like a douchelord, TT is very loyal to him.

      • January 12, 2011 at 1:44 pm

Hmmm… that’s a good point. I can totally see that happening.

      • January 12, 2011 at 6:40 pm

I agree with that, and laughed my dayum arse off at “douchelord.”

  6. January 12, 2011 at 8:54 am

I think Melanie finished school and was trying to find somewhere to do her residency. And Yes, it was was trying to get everyone caught up in the shortest time possible. I didn’t like that. And WHO THE EFF is Malik now??!! I dont like him at ALL. And if the DNA says it’s Derwin’s, what did Jenay tell him?

and Tasha is still messy. . *smh* I loved it!

  7. V.E.G.
    January 12, 2011 at 8:57 am

They have the same head writer and the show’s creator is the Exec. Producer.
I can’t blame BET for the parts of the show I didn’t like. The same two people who were running the show from Day 1 are guiding it now.

I totally disagree with you on Kelly’s turn. She admitted to originally marrying Jason for money. She was a label whore while they were married, even though he was a tight wad. She was a lush and attention seeker. Why wouldn’t she get a reality show?

I like that they are poking fun at those damn Athlete’s Wives shows. Mara Brock Akil said they pitched this script with the Kelly reality show angle TWO years ago…before Basketball and Football Wives. Not sure if she’s telling the truth but that’s what she said. Even if she didn’t, those shows came after The Game and I always thought they were a reality rip on The Game.

I give the show a 70-75%…it was good but not very good. I’ll watch it next week and any Tuesday I’m home to watch it.

I knew that once BET got its evil hands on this show it was going to ruin it. I didn’t even bother to watch. The confusion on my TL said it all. And Luvvie ur comment about Megan Goode had me in tears! Love ur posts!

    Luv Bug,
Thanks, cause you said all I asked on FB…I kept my side eye on stand by for this shit…and I threw major shade and a couple of side eyes…I was tight as hell when they kept setting us back saying, light skinneded and good hair and then Derwin saying, we have Indian in our family *Side eye*…Then Tasha smoking that damn Black ‘n Mild! Really? Come on now!! I just knew she was gonna pull some Old E out of her purse any moment!! BET shole know how to turn something good into pure fuckery….And Melanie, seems so snarky know…Imma give them another chance Tuesday…we shall see…

    January 12, 2011 at 9:01 am

I agree with everything you said. I’m leary to dismiss the show so early because I feel as if that maybe they were trying too hard to catch us up to the characters and attitudes that seem to be present now. However, it was too serious and too drastic. Some properly placed moments of laughter would’ve soothed us over. Because we were all on an awkward edge. But I will say that before the show premiered, they did say that they borrowed a lot of what was going on in the public now. If you think about it, the basketball wives/football wives empire can thank The Game for its relevancy in the first place. Hopefully it’ll get better by next week though. :\

Shaunie throwing shade right ack, she quoted “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”. Gets on my darn nerves.

  12. January 12, 2011 at 9:19 am

Just like the characters changed in two years, so did we, the audience. Plus, they had to add a lot into that first episode. They had to catch us up. And you know what? No matter what, Black Twitter is gonna complain. It’s what we do!

    • January 12, 2011 at 9:39 am

I agree. I think Black Twitter lives to complain… I mean don’t get me wrong I definitely threw a mean *side-eye* at Tasha Mack & that black, but 2 years have passed and some things had to change (networks, reality shows, the audience) and they had to play catch up while getting those who weren’t in on The Game to start w/ up and moving. It’s an arduous task.

Luvvisha, I did love your post. I expect Meagan Good to be a hoodrat, anything else is unsavory. & Terrence J… *swoon* but w/ Tasha Mack?! I’ont know. I’mma hafta get used to it.

      • January 12, 2011 at 1:03 pm

“I think Black Twitter lives to complain…”
If that ain’t the truth… lol

      • January 12, 2011 at 4:35 pm

You are right that Black Twitter loves to complain. That is what we do. But I think on this one, we had a right.

    January 12, 2011 at 9:21 am

I didn’t watch The Game on the CW, I started watching the repeats on BET. I was always scared it was going to be sheer coonery. Now it came back and it seems like it’s DEFINITELY coonery. That Black & Mild had to go. And can we bring back the REAL Brit-Brat? That lil’ hoochie child they had on there is just as ghetto fab as Kelli Pitts is now…but I’m not too mad @ her cuz he was cheap as hell.
Anyway, I’ll watch again just to see if it gets better…”sweet baby Jesus with the golden pamper, Derwin Nike’s, Saber jersey & football in hand”, PLEASE let the show go back to the way it was!

  14. January 12, 2011 at 9:33 am

I know they were trying to make sure they called DJ’s paternity into question, but why did they keep using the whole “But the boy’s light skinned with curly hair” angle to do this? Since when was it impossible for 2 brown folks to give birth to a light skin baby?

    Exactly.

  15. January 12, 2011 at 10:01 am

First time commenting…I heart this blog…but I had to come out of lurkerville to say that I was disappointed in the premiere. I missed the credits but is Mara Brock Akil still a part of The Game? Previous episodes included some light-hearted moments but last night’s show was double dipped in drama…too extra for me!

    • January 12, 2011 at 2:13 pm

Thanks for delurking!!! But yea there was a cluster of drama in that show. I believe Mara Brock Akil is still a part of the show. Don’t quote me though.

  16. January 12, 2011 at 10:06 am

This episode of The Game was like Luffah’s curl…it never really quite met my expectations. Like I wanted to love it…I really did, but too many things have changed without any explanation, and the “catch up” section didn’t catch us up, but instead brought us to present day without explaining how we got there.

Yes Melanie is still a mess, Kelly has been turned into a mess, and wth was Tasha Mack smokin’ a black? Sigh…I will be watching next week…just to cling on to the hope that things will get better, but I will refrain from being too optimistic. I mean, this is BET we are talking about. lol

    January 12, 2011 at 10:15 am

I’ll definitely be tuning in next week. I do agree with you the characters do seem a lot different than before. Melanie got on my damn nerves last night. She reminds me soo much of Joan on Girlfriends. Always eff’n up for no damn reason! Another problem I had was the little girl they had playing Jason and Kelli’s daughter. I really wish the could have kept the same little girl because that girl looked way older than 10, and too sassy for me.

    • Tan
      January 12, 2011 at 12:44 pm

Rarely comment, but had to respond. Melanie is Joan’s cousin so it’s in the blood. LOL! Remember “Girlfriends” had the episode where we were introduced to “The Game”.

      • January 12, 2011 at 1:48 pm

REALLY???? I never saw that ep but that makes a lotta sense… Both are off.

          January 12, 2011 at 2:21 pm

Yes, there is an episode of Girlfriends when we are introduced to Melanie, Joan’s cousin and she was trying to convince Melanie to stay in Med School I do believe.
But Luvvie, I totally loved this blog….it had me in tears!
This whole premiere was a J.O.K.E!
I give them one more week and I quit if it the same crap that they aired last night.

    • January 12, 2011 at 1:57 pm

Melanie lost a bit of her likeability. I’m not sure what they did but she did get kinda annoying in the same way Joan did. Hmph. And that lil girl… O_____O

    January 12, 2011 at 10:30 am

I’m gonna come The Game’s defense a little bit. A lot has changed between the original show and now, and I don’t think the premiere could’ve met anyone’s expectations no matter how good it was b/c the show has been SO hyped up. But anyways, to answer some of those questions,

1.) Kelly is basically bitter and doesn’t know what to do with herself. She regrets the divorce (her words to Melanie) so she’s holding on to that stupid grudge with Tasha and acting a fool w/ that reality show to get attention.

2.) Malik is acting like a complete a**hole b/c he’s no longer the star of the team. That was basically his whole identity in the original show (“Million Dollar Man” or whatever he used to call himself) and now that’s gone. He’s getting hit on the field now and he’s pissed at the world b/c he’s no longer the focus of the Sabres.

3.) Melanie didn’t quit med school, she’s just postponing her residency.

4.) Tasha with the Black & Mild?…..I have no answer to that. That was a hot mess.

I do miss the laughs from the original show though. Everything was so drama-filled and sad with the new premiere. I miss the weight room scenes with the guys all laughing at Derwin and whatever stupid thing he was doing at the time. And I definitely miss the Sunbeam meetings and everyone getting drunk and talking about how retarded Med School was acting. *Sigh* oh well, maybe it’ll get better. Here’s hoping

  20. Bridgette
    January 12, 2011 at 10:43 am

I enjoyed the show. My husband talked about it last night. IMO The Game was getting all drama-like before they got to BET. So expected it to be all EXTRA.

Tasha still messy (didn’t like the black and mild tho and Terrance J…I do.not.like.him. he’s lame)

Malik but why is he an ass**** now? I don’t like that at.ALL.

Kellie I really don’t like her character now but I guess her story line had to go somewhere. (And Brit Brat, she is a 17 year old midget, WTH?)

Needless to say, I will be watching it next week.

    • January 12, 2011 at 12:52 pm

“(And Brit Brat, she is a 17 year old midget, WTH?)”

The characters of the show changed big time!! I waited 2 years for this show and yesterday’s episode was really weird and dissapointing. They were trying to hard!!!
For it to be the season premiere it just seemed too much and the lines were not good. But I know they are good actors so I’m was like WHAT is GOING ON HERE!!! but I don’t know who to blame BET or the new format!! I was just dissapointed because they characters didnt have depth like it did before. I will be watching next week to see where this show will go from here

2 most annoying characters hands down last nite!!! = MALIK and KELLY

Wierd scenes= was when melanie had the hand puppets…..and Tasha MAck kissing all over Terrance J

    I like Terrance from 106th & Park but C’MON BET …….really?

Kelly fussing out Tasha Mack over the phone. What happened to ” I got your lollipos in my trnk” Tasha?Tasha Mack and Kelly fight over the phone
    Very corney….

Megan Goode kept slapping Malik and dry humping and when she left the bathroom she didnt even wash her hands.
    NASTY!!!!!

Predictable scenes= TT was so gullible he should of saw that coming….
Melanie DNA testing the baby and tell him it is not his then finding out it is his and not saying anything…..

I think Malik going to get kicked off of the Sabers, Kelly and Jason will get back together becuause she regrets the divorce…..What happened to the old BRIT BRAT

I will be tuning in next week…..maybe the show will get better….

EW @ Tasha and Terrence kissing. I kept saying… they not gon actually show them kissing. And why was he all nekkid!!!! That boy look 12 without a shirt on and that just made me uncomfortable as hell!!!! AS HELL! He a baby! EW

  22. elleboogie_
    January 12, 2011 at 11:52 am

Why did they keep using the whole “But the boy’s light skinned with curly hair” angle to do this? Since when was it impossible for 2 brown folks to give birth to a light skin baby? –> I dunno. I’m lighter than both my mama and daddy (and look like them too). It can happen.

    * Why did the scene with Melanie, the hand puppets and the baby make me nervous? That was quite awkward. –> I kept having the feeling that the boy was gonna drown or something. I was nervous the whole time.

The jury is still out. I heard they have already filmed 13 episodes, so I dunno if many improvements will be coming right away. Still glad to see them back doe.

    • January 12, 2011 at 3:15 pm

Lawd, I was nervous as IONO what when Melanie was asking Derwin if she could give DJ a bath. SMH I can’t deal with hurt kids!

      • ABG
        January 12, 2011 at 3:38 pm

It has been 2 years…why hasn’t she given the child a bath is what I wanted to know? I cannot believe that in 2 years, Melanie has not had to babysit the kid once…the whole show was so bizzare!!!

  23. January 12, 2011 at 12:20 pm

To answer your question about why they kept using the “But the boy’s light skinned with curly hair” angle?

Because Black people do that ALL the time to gauge paternity. That probably was the realest part of the entire episode. It may seem wrong when its shown on tv for the world to see, but I can’t count how many times people have used that as an excuse to not claim a child or welcome them into their family. It doesn’t make sense, but it happens. *shrug*

I know one thing. I can not go through another Melanie/Derwin break up. My heart and emotions just can’t take it.

I DO wonder how they are going to write TIA’s pregnancy into Melanie’s role.

    • January 12, 2011 at 1:46 pm

I guess Stacey was old news. The girl Jason brought to the dinner was named “Peaches.” O___o

  28. January 12, 2011 at 1:30 pm

Since when was it impossible for 2 brown folks to give birth to a light skin baby?

Yeah, tell me. Because BOTH of my parents are brown-skinned…and I glow in the dark in the winter.

Why is Kelly and Jason’s daughter super tan with black hair, when she was lighter with blondish hair before?

She’s like the 2011 version of Aunt Viv on the Fresh Prince

I actually enjoyed last night’s episode. *shrug*

    • January 12, 2011 at 1:45 pm

LMAO!!! She’s the new Aunt Viv indeed. I didn’t hate the ep but it wasn’t the quality it was before.

I could not have said it ALL any better. In fact, I posted on fb that certain shows get dumbed down (for a lack of another word I will not use) when they go to BET. I so DID NOT like the long anticipated return of THE GAME!!! I sure hope BET has its folk reading the blogs. And you are so right to question whether or not the same writers are involved? The ISH that aired last night is SURELY not what I or many other fans loved about the show and from the comments I have seen, the show will not last long if it continues the way it did…SM(micky fricky)H!

I’m not a loyal The Game watcher. I wasn’t breaking my neck to catch episodes I missed and I certainly didn’t know fans wrote in written requests to get the show back on until I read about it in Jet. Last week

I did, however watch the premiere b/c I figured with the way the actors were praising their fans in Jet for getting the show back on, I just KNEW it would be worth it.

I will keep my issues w/ it brief since I mostly agree with Luvvie but I will say this

Why wait two years to get a DNA test done if you were THAT sure the baby wasn’t your husband’s? Being in medical school, that would’ve been on the first things I did.

The episodes I have seen TT was SO loyal to Malik that I’d love to see what Malik did/said to make TT quit him. I really do.

BEYOND sick of Meagan Good and the roles she chooses to take on. Yeah she’s pretty but why must ALL her roles be the same?

I’m not a Terrence J fan and I don’t think he’s cute or sexy. He reminds of Dru Hill’s Nokio (esp. in their I Love You video). He will be a deciding factor in how often, if at all, I watch again

Was not impressed AT ALL. Seems like nothing has changed….except TT acting all mature and responsible now. Don’t think I’ll be tuning in next week. *Bye Bye Derwin, AKA Pooch, I’ll miss you*

Didn’t like the daughter age and appearance change either. I guess they want to write her with teen drama since she’s supposed to be 13 now (a fast 13 who’s probably taking the divorce hard by acting out) but a more similar looking actress would’ve been preferred. It’s not that important though as she wasn’t a main character (like changing mothers on “Family Matters” and “Fresh Prince of Bel- Air” )

The season premiere had great acting with the Derwin and Melanie character. A great twist at the end. Nice introduction of character with Megan Good’s role. And a developing plot with Malik hurting those close to him and I’m sure we’ll see how it backfires later.

The production value was great. It was a lot sleeker then it had been on CW. The laugh track could be better adjusted and because Bet’s host is on tv 5 days a week it was jarring to see him step into this character.

But of course time will well. After not being on the show the actors came back into their roles comfortably especially Coby Bell playing Jason Pitts.

The writers , directors, and actors need a few episodes to ease into things again. It’s like an athlete after being injured for a months but make it 2 years. Those who complain need to understand we’re only in physical therapy now.And I’d have to say, the injury is barely noticeable.

And we love the show, but it wasn’t getting Emmy nominations before either.

All in all the ratings are amazing and I’m happy we got it there.

First and foremost I just wanna thank you for posting this. Unfortunately I was forced to watch The Game by my girlfriend last night. I dont know much about the show but I was just amazed by the amount of blatant racist remarks and stereotypes that were portrayed in this show. While watching, I just pointed out the countless different ways the show demeaned black people. I feel one of the most impactful quotes was by “TT” (I think that’s his name) at the chicken truck. “Act like the white man owns this truck.” I believe that’s enough said. This is why I been boycotting BET for years. But I was looking on facebook and twitter to see if anyone recognized the racism, I couldn’t find anything. But im glad I found this article and I’m not alone. Thanks again.

You’re not the only one; some of the lines gave me pause too. Overall the show was just too much and not enough.

    1. I can’t stand Kelly anymore, I used to love her and I so wanted her and Jason to get back together at the end of the Season 3 finale, but umm Kelly 2.0 sucks, so until she gets herself together, I won’t be a fan of hers.
    2. Is anyone surprised that Britt Brat got replaced, the kids on the show are always expendable.
    3. Tasha and Terrance J is just awkward…. I mean Tasha “Do what you do and vote for Drew”, but you need to need to fly down to Miami and get Rick (pause) Fox… Rick Fox.
    4. Janay is even more unlikeable this season! She is such a baby mama shopping and jet setting like that.
    5. So ummm Melanie I can’t say #teamMedSchool anymore; since you aren’t in med school? #fail
    6. Malik is going to hades.

I believe if you walk in the parking lot of BET headquarters, you will see Debra Lee two-stepping with the devil! They completely took a really good show with really good story lines and turned it into a hood drama, baby mama/baby daddy included. They cant get anything right! They must have hired the same writers Tyler Perry uses. Right? O___O

You basically said everything I was thinking. I couldn’t go 3 minutes without wincing from the awkwardness/weird timing of the lines. It seems like a completely different show, and if it had been like this in the beginning, I definitely wouldn’t have watched it. As it is, I’m only watching it because I remember how funny it used to be. Hopefully, it’ll get better….

    LOL at “the BET effect”

    Hey Girl, Hey…

Sigh….If I had been listening in English, I would’ve heard the EBT of it all in The Game’s new home. Surely, if I wasn’t all bunned up with hope & joy @ The Game’s return, I would’ve realized that this could ONLY mean that the show was gon’ be that new nutbush. That trash offended me. & now I have to be mad when I stay up 30 min past my bedtime on a Tuesday night, committing to goin in to teach these kids tired on Wednesday mornings, to watch this trashedy.

I feel set up for failure & I don’t like it!!

I think the anticipation of “the comeback” was a bit of pressure on writers or network… whichever. The drama was overload and I’m hoping it smooths out in the next couple of episodes. It’s like everyone’s amped up on meds.

I wanted to kick Mel in the knees for doing the damn DNA test. It amazes me that supposedly 2 years have passed and still this animosity between her and the situation exists! I would’ve kept he baby’s paternity in question for a lil while- maybe eluded to sexual tension between Derwin and Jenae.. I gotta admit,I like Jenae- at least she’s not as crazy and unstable as Melanie!

They coulda picked SOMEBODY else… ANYBODY else to play tasha’s young love interest…. ANYBODY!!!!

Kelly has lost her marbles. This is the part that really disappointed me. Kelly, Jason and Brit “brat” were my favorite on the show. Jason was hilarious and clever. I wouldve really like to see them reunite or at least smoooth out. Did their daughter look like Raven Simone to ya’ll??? Is that her kin??

Malik.. I disown him completely. TT FOREVER! I’m sure we were all thinking that Malik would sleep with TT’s chick… but we didn’t believe that it would be so damn obvious. Alas… it was.

I will be watching next week. But I think we all have to except that it’s not the same show.

BTW, I hate Kelly’s hair.. Love Meagan’s hair… really the same cut, lol. But liked it better on Meagan.

I just hope the writers make the characters a little more redeemable/likable. None of them seem very likable any more and it will be difficult for an audience to buy-in and care about what happens to the characters.

  46. January 16, 2011 at 4:49 pm

Every single topic you spoke on I had questioned also. That truly isn’t a good sign or maybe we did just have higher expectations. I made sure in the beginning when the credits were rolling that the writers were the same…yikes they were! Maybe the 2 years affected them. The one thing you forgot to touch on, was why the HELL is everyone so ANGRY on the show? Pretty crazy if you ask me (which I know you didn’t) but to have black actors working in today’s environment is a good thing but you would think other wise from how the characters have been developed (I know it’s make believe but geesh).

Tuning in next week…I’m a glutton and hopeful right along with you.
