My Life

It’s a Celebration on Awesomely Luvvie So Giveaway Time!

I’m always tardy for the party, even when it’s my own. August was insanely busy for me. So busy that I forgot a major special occasion here on AwesomelyLuvvie.com!

On August 8, 2006, I launched this blog with a simple post, not thinking it would turn into anything but a random space for me to talk about my random life. FIVE years later, I’ve won the “Best Humor Blog” award from the Black Weblog Awards, have received over 10,000 comments and have gotten hundreds of thousands of people from around the world to read my words.

To say I’m honored and surprised by what my little rinky dinky eCrib has become is an understatement. But to celebrate AwesomelyLuvvie.com turning FIVE, I bring you:

FIVE for FIVE!

Five of my Top Posts:

* 25 Dumbest Tweets of 2010
* Dear Lil Kim, the Mixtape and Nicki Minaj Beef. Girl…
* APimpNamedSlickFront: Whose Uncle Is This?
* Dear Kat Stacks, You’re Failing at Life
* Disney Music is Everything

Five countries that most of my readers are from. I’ve had visitors from over 189 countries. These are the top five: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Kenya

SHOUTOUT TO MY GLOBAL READERS!!!

Five bloggers who inspire me: Patrice Yursik of Afrobella, Angel Laws of ConcreteLoop, Claire Sulmers of The Fashion Bomb, Champ of Very Smart Brothas, Erika Kendall of A Black Girl’s Guide to Weight Loss.

They take their craft seriously but don’t take themselves that serious. They really put in work in this blogging/writing game and have used their sites as platforms to do even greater things. Nothing but respect for these folks!

Five other websites I started after this one:

* DumbestTweets.com
* MustLuvvShoes.com
* FacebookFoolishness.tumblr.com
* Luvvdivine.tumblr.com
* BacktoNigeria.tumblr.com

And yes, they’re all still active. Some more than others. I am aware that I’m a busybody.

Five of my Top Commenters:

Cheekie, I Am Your People, Kay, DivaKattGurlCapricorn

—–

I wanted to thank each and every one of you for reading my site. And for sharing it with your peoples. It takes a village to pass on the ratchetness.

Anywho, to further thank you, I’m having a giveaway, something I haven’t done here in AGES.

I’m a Gap brand ambassador, and have been for the past 2 years. Remember when I blogged about the jeans party I had in 2009? MMHMM. Some of you do. WELLS, Gap surprised me with a package two weeks ago containing 2 pairs of pants from the new line. AND they were generous enough to send me a free jeans certificate to give away to my readers.

Heyyyyyy!!! So… one lucky AwesomelyLuvver (hehe) will be winning a free jean certificate, that can be redeemed for any pair of jeans you’d like at any Gap store. For my non-skinty folks, know that the Gap has up to a size 20, so yes, you definitely count too! :-D

Sooooo to enter to win, do these things:

* Send me an essay on why I’m awesome.
* Then send me a package of red velvet cupcakes
* And then start a petition asking VH1 to hire me to snatch their stars’ wigs.

Ok I kid, I kid. You don’t have to do any of that. Just simply leave a comment (between now and Friday, September 9th) at 4pm EST) saying how long you’ve been reading my blog. And leave your email address. I’ll be picking the winner randomly and announcing it on Monday.

To my international readers, I’m sorry but I wish I could include you in this giveaway. I can’t ship the certificate to another country. :-/ But still feel free to comment!!! :-D

    I’ve been reading your blog for a year now & it has enhanced my life! Lol!

    This message says my post is too short so I’m rambling so that my post won’t be too short… What the hoot?! Again it says, too short, I mean… Should I be writing a book luuvie?! ^_^

    I haven’t been reading your blog long…a little under a year after I started using Tiwtter and your name was always retweeted in my TL. I started following you there first, then eventually made it over to the blog (and then dumbesttweets and BacktoNigeria). You have kept me in stitches on the blogs and when you guest host on BlackingItUp (your airport boots story had me screaming the other day). Keep up the good work! :-)

    I’ve been reading your blog for approximately two years now and it has LITERALLY been a pick-me-up with life decides it no longer has a funny bone. I’ve had to hold myself together to stop from snorting!

    I’m uncertain whether you want us to leave our email in the actual post or whether you can see the email address that’s required but not published.

    Never the less, [email protected]

    Hey Luvvie! I’ve been reading your blog for over a year now, and look forward to new posts. You slay me with the witty comments and observations from celebs who need wigs snatched(like Tyrese*sigh*STILL dissapointed in that one) to the everyday people on Twitter who our educational system look WORSE than it is, and make my bad days better with your humor.

    The new blogs are just as awesome. Keep up the good work!!!!

    *waves* I’ve been reading your blog for about a year now. It was RT’d into my twitter feed. I looked. I laughed (read: cackled silently at work). And I even went hmm. Your blog got me through some terrible jobs. I love your writing. I think it’s insightful and very entertaining. I can tell you really do take this seriously (when you’re not eating rice or anything red velvet).

    Hey Luvvie! I have been reading your blog for well over 2 years now. I remember a post Afrobella mentioned you in, and I have been hooked on getting my weekly dose of hilarious ratchetness since then. I remember when I found you, I read most of your archived posts in one sitting, at work. Thankfully, I wasn’t fired. But I mastered the silent cackle. Congrats on your five years, and keep spreading and exposing ratchetness and shenanigans.

    So I’ve been reading this ignoramous blog for about 3yrs now and your insanity and mindlessness have added laughter and tears to my life. The way you use your words to characterize the lives of another person’s debacle simply leaves me falling out sometimes.

    But on a serious note, I’m proud of your accomplishments gurlie, wish you the best :). I reflect on the times when the Quad was our platform and atrocities were out livelihood and here you are today, blogging professionally and introducing rice/stew to mainstream America! IW wish you all the best in life chica!

    I have been reading your blog for about 6 months now and I must say, it gives me life. I came across your blog through Twitter because of the 25 dumbest tweets post that was repeatedly retweeted in my TL. I am from the islands so it is always amusing to me to read some of the slang (I didn’t know what “shade” was until I started reading your blog and following you) and I am ALWAYS dying laughing at your wit.
    I have shared your stories with my friends who have in turn followed you both on Twitter and your blogs. By the way, I work with HIV/AIDS so I follow Red Pump Project also!

    I’ve been reading for over a year now. By far my fav feature is the Sternly Worded Letter. Thank goodness we live in a country that provides an endless list of folks who need such a letter in their in box. May I suggest the following for future much needed letters: The whole Kardashian clan, Serena Williams & her outfits, and the sure to be endless pics of Beyonce & her baby bump.

    I’ve been around since around the jean giveaway of 2009!! I used to read your comments on VSB and clicked on your link; the rest is history. Because of you, I’ve begun checking menus for red velvet everything. I’ve hollered laughing, done serious thinking, and questioned the education of some celebrities due to your site.

    hey luvvie! i’ve been reading your blog since december of last year, courtesy of my fabulous sister. i was home for the holidays, for a MONTH, at my parents’ house without a car.

    which is to say that i rolled deep into the archives, and i think may have seen (and cackled at until i was in pain) every 90s R&B roast and ridiculous youtube video on the site. STILL unsure if miss honay or no mo’ po’k chops is the supreme winner – meaning i may need to watch them both again…
