BusinessMy Life

I’m Going to the 2012 Academy Awards!

If you’re part of my Facebook fam or follow me on Twitter, this is probably not new news. But last week, I got GREAT news that I (and Afrobella) have been credentialed to be on the Academy Awards Red Carpet, on February 26, 2012! We’ll be doing press coverage and live-tweeting from the Oscar’s, pre-show and during.

*leyomi drops through the goalposts of life*

Listen, when I tell you Jesus keeps doing the cabbage patch in my life??? I need you to believe it. I’m so humbled for the opportunity, and I could not be more excited. When I first found out, I truly bust out into a Brother Franklin jig.

This news brought me so much joy even beyond the fact itself. There are times where I don’t feel like the work I do is being noticed. And there are even more times when I feel like people don’t take me seriously EVER because I tell more jokes than a knock-knock book. And then something like this happens and I get a boost to keep working harder at this whole writing thing. I’m driven to get better and I’m more than thankful.

And what rocks most is that I get to share this epic moment with one of my besties, Afrobella. We continue what seems to be our adventures around the country. We managed to have fun even on an Amtrak train, so I think we’re going to have A BLAST on that red carpet. We’ll be the ones looking super geeked to be there.

Now on to the really important matter at hand: What shall I wear? When I first announced this news on Twitter, more than a couple of people asked me what shoes I will be rocking. I stroke my chin even now wondering. Whatever shoes I rock must be fierce. I want folks to gasp at the sight of them.

And my dress? Well I want it to slay at least 1,427 hoes on sight. So I’m officially on a search for my Oscar’s #alphet, shoes and accessories and I have a little over 2 months to find them. Whatever I end up going with, I’ll share it with y’all. I might even bring you along on the journey leading up to the day.

Oscars Luvvie

Check out my avatar looking fancy #dinnamug.

My homie and hair guru Felicia Leatherwood will be rocking my locs out for the ceremony so I’m super excited about that. But YAYYYYYY! SEE YOU IN FEBRUARY, LA! And shoutout to you, Steph. 🙂

*hits my blessings rain down on me dougie for the road*

So will you be watching the Oscar’s this year? What do you think I should wear?

    1. I am so happy for you and Afrobella!! I cannot WAIT to see the #alphets ya’ll will rock! (but I still want those blue stilletto pumps you have)

    2. Lemme tell you a lil praise story: today I was feeling a bit down, when my good friend and her hubby asked me to go to lunch with them. I declined b/c a sista is broke. They paid for my lunch and we had a good chuckle and it raised my spirit. Then I opened this site and saw Bro Franklin and I feel even better!! We all chuckle at his dancing, but today it reminded me that I do have a lot to praise and sometimes I forget that.

    3. lol, last one, I promise. Luvvie, you deserve EVERYTHING good that comes to you! This site has brought me so much joy and tears (from laughing) and you and Afrobella will have so much fun. Thank you in advance for taking us all along for the ride.

ps: but for realz, give me those shoes. I’m a 7.5. 😛

Don’t forget less is more. And when I say less I don’t mean two nipple diamonds, a G-String and flip-flops. Whatever you choose make sure it’s your talent that features in the news the next day and not an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction.

Break a leg, sweetheart. And when I say break a leg….
