Come for Mother Oprah on Twitter and You Might Get Embarrassed

People do try to come for the wigs of celebrities on a daily basis and usually they walk away pretty unscathed. Twitter is the perfect place where this happens, and I wrote about this in my Stages of Twitter Celebrity Roast and Wig Snatch post.

Someone fixed their mouth to come at the Queen of Pop Culture Everything Oprah Winfrey, and they got TOLD about themselves swiftly.

Oprah Clapped Back

WELP!!! OOP.

Whoever this Awalk dude is got his edges snatched by Mother Oprah for questioning her hood-focused philanthropy and she basically clapped back and gave her credentials right quick. OOP. I’m sure he wasn’t expecting it though.

I pictured her sitting at home looking like this when she got that tweet:

Oprah Shade GIF

And you sir?

First of all, I’d like to give her ALL THE PROPS for the amount of shade she managed to throw so classily and effortlessly. Her “And u sir?” gave me EVERYTHING I needed for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That shade was so nutritious and appetizing. In fact, “And you sir” will be my new response to all sorts of things, even if it doesn’t fit. “Luvvie, why were you late?” “I was taking my time. #AndYouSir?” It’s packed with so much side-eye. Yes, I am here for it.

I DO love me some Oprah. I admit this. In my eyes, she can do little wrong. However, I’ve listened to folks’ critiques of her and sometimes, I can see their point. However, saying the woman isn’t charitable enough is not a fault I can agree with. If you want to come at her, take another route.

Don’t try to come for Oprah on Twitter on an issue where she can prove herself. She can probably show you receipts ‘pon receipts of what she’s done. One of my Twitter followers even acted as Oprah’s “more people” with this:

See? SEE THIS? Oprah does things. DOES. THINGS.

People will never be 100% happy with Oprah. Folks will always think she doesn’t do enough. It’s like some people just want Ms. Winfrey to walk in their house on a Tuesday afternoon and hand them a check so they can pay off all their debts. She’s philanthropic DINNAMUG and Google Oprah charity work to read up on some of the things she’s done. In fact, just click that link. I already did it for you. So instead of getting embarrassed on Twitter in front of Oprah’s 13 million followers and countless more (who saw it via RTs), do your research.

If I were him, I’d just leave Twitter. And possibly go find some sand to bury my head in since I was just publicly embarrassed and put in my place by Harpo. I’d collect my things and leave quietly, leaving my dignity behind at her feet. Instead, he’s still tweeting things that don’t matter while she’s earning millions every time she takes a deep breath. WOMP.

Meanwhile, we still don’t know what @Awalkdatalk has done for the hood.

I’m just saying. Moral of this story is that don’t get your wig snatched by a billionaire on Twitter. It’s highly humiliating.

By the way, Oprah deleted the tweet and I do wish she wouldn’t have. she probably deleted it because she felt she stooped to his level but sometimes, people need to be told about themselves. Firmly and sternly.

So whatcha think of Oprah’s response?

P.S.GERROUT OPRAH’S POCKETS!

P.P.S. All her life, Oprah had to fight… (I couldn’t resist)

Edit:

And then THIS happened and I got my LIFE some more:

Oprah tweet

WELP!!!!!

Oprah does charity the right way – she doesn’t go around saying “HEY, LOOK AT ME WRITING THIS CHECK!” People need to utilize the Google machine before saying ignance

  3. July 30, 2012 at 1:50 am

I don’t know why people constantly try to come for Oprah, online and off. I’ve had family members say, “she doesn’t believe in God.” And I’m like, SINCE WHEN?! Then you have people like Awalkdatalk saying she doesn’t give back to “the hood” when she’s always giving back. I love Oprah, it is very rare that I don’t agree with her. That woman has done so much, and I wish people would just leave her alone, and understand that it is not her responsibility to take care of everyone.

Oprah became the Omar Little of Twitter last night. “You come at the Queen, you best not miss”.

I remember when Oprah first build her girls’ school in South Africa and so many people were like “we need schools here, blah bla blah” and Oprah went on to explain how our educational system here is FREE and in S Africa and many other developing counties it’s not. The she talked about how so many kids and parents just take advantage of school and do not really support the educational system. As a former teacher in Phila. I absolutely agree with her. There were so many students in my school who were focused on keeping their sneakers clean, or getting an Iphone meanwhile they can’t read past a 2nd grade level (I taught at a 5th-8th grade school). And don’t let the teacher or principal confiscate a cell phone for being used during class, parents coming to the school hooping and hollering trying to fight the principal, meanwhile last week when we were trying to reach that same parent for behavior or academic problems the past week they were nowhere to be found. Bottom line, we need to do better, and not solely rely on the help of famous black folks, just because they can afford to do so.
*Sorry to write a book here, this just gets under my skin!

But that book was the sho nuff troof!! LOL #fellowteacher

What has always pissed me off is how bammas feel they have ANY right to tell Oprah how to spend her own money. She don’t have to give anybody a DAGGONE thang. Not one thing. Bammas need to leave her alone and get them a piece of the pie on their own.

I commend you for your career choice lol. I coached a High School level sport for a season or two. I couldn’t believe the priorities of the students vs. those of the scholastic sports programs. And I hardly saw a parent.

I love your book!!! I commend you for what you do as a mother of four it is important to support the educators you are here to do a job and without the support of parents you can’t do it correctly

He’s a “rapper” who just got 15 minutes of fame. So Oprah helped him personally by even addressing him. NOW, where’s his receipt? I took the time to listen to his lyrics & I was surprised (or maybe not so surprised.) Tell me, how does degrading women, talking about drinking, clubbing and getting that money help the hood? Have a seat.

wow! that “and you sir” was like a gut check! I felt it for him. He really needs to go have a seat in the corner and write 500 times ” I wil NEVER EVVA EVVA EVVA try to come for the queen again!”. He needs to hide forever!

  8. July 30, 2012 at 8:57 am

It is always these former “Myspace” rappers that seeks attention from every corner on Twitter.

I bet you this dummy in particular didn’t even know she had a talk show for years. That is how simple he sound

if she had ended it with a ‘i said good day’ or a mic drop – i would have died and been given life simultaneously. LMFAO!!!!!

    • July 30, 2012 at 3:43 pm

LMFAOOOOO!! Yes!! That ‘I said good day’ would have been all the life I needed forever. Forever ever.

  10. July 30, 2012 at 11:34 am

Come at Madame O if you want to. Leave with your feelings hurt and less dignity than you arrived with.

Whenever folks come at Ms. O, I just imagine them with that look on their face like Denzel and the soldiers at the end of Glory…right before they got obliterated

  11. July 30, 2012 at 12:58 pm

Thank you for writing this blog post. People need to step back and stop waiting on Oprah to save the black community. Why is she the only celebrity held to this standard? I’m just glad she said something. And as for her not doing enough. Umm….she gives more than anyone else. When others start giving that much, then I can stand to listen to the noise.

  12. July 30, 2012 at 2:26 pm

I completely and totally concur nobody’s perfect including Lady O but I’d ride for her and her accomplishments before I expend the energy even thinking of batting an eyelash in the direction of a whole battalion of corny ass wanna be chumps like this dude.

she shoulda capped it off with a “BOY, BYE!”

    July 30, 2012 at 2:50 pm

She checked that azz…can you say Checkmate!!! hahahaha!!!!I agree she is not obligated to save the “black” community. That’s what’s wrong with a lot of our black people…they think somebody owe them something. Nobody owe you anything! If you want it, get up off your behind and get it, like Lady O did!!!

Trolls hate it when you call them sir. Hate. It. Oprah just showed all celebs everywhere how to handle haters with class.

  15. July 30, 2012 at 6:37 pm

Why is this dude all up in Ms. O’s pockets? Why should she (or any other wealthy person) become the Hood Savior when folks like Awalkdatalk (or whatever he is) don’t even take care of their own? Perhaps he is trying to make himself relevant…I don’t know about relevant, but I do know he is getting laughed at after Oprah gave him that Twittah speed knot upside his clueless head.

@Luvvie – did you go to the Oprah School of Shade and Wig-Snatching? ‘Cause you have been known to crack a knuckle or two yourself.

    I wonder if Oprah has a Master Class on Twitter Slam? I would so watch that… (0_0*}

If there was ever a comeuppance served on twitter, this was it. Thank you for preserving that copy for prosperity, ’cause Oprah was really saying ” Game. Set. Match”…

  17. July 31, 2012 at 2:11 pm

Yeaaaas! I saw this and I hollered you hear me?! He needs to take 3 stadiums worth of seats and those of the outer lying areas! What an idiot! I am mad she deleted it tho. She was like you are not get any shine here Sir!! Love Auntie O!

He should just shut down all his pages. Because now he will be known as the dude that got shut down by Oprah.

I think she deleted the tweet because she shouldn’t have addressed him. She has done enough more than enough. Too many people looking for hand outs instead for working hard enough at their dreams to get a hand up.

There is no way one rich woman should be responsible for the entire issues in the ghetto. I feel so much of it is lost spiritual connection. It’s about time people start looking at themselves and realize they are responsible for a lot that happens in their life. We have choices to make.

I remember when education was the key then all of a sudden it’s not cool to be educated it’s not cool enough how is Oprah responsible for the entire black race? Yet there is part of Oprah that thinks she doesn’t do enough, who wants to do more. Yet she can’t live everyone’s life. That man’s comment and her answered it made me feel that she felt guilty that she wasn’t enough doing enough to help.

I think she has done enough others need to work just as hard to create a better life for themselves. She has taken on the burdens of many and it’s shows. I hope she frees herself from it can’t imagine the pressure she is under.
