KitchenAid’s Tweeter Is Gonna Need to #OccupyLinkedIn

During the presidential debate, whoever was tweeting for KitchenAid accidentally sent this tweet out:

KitchenAid FAIL tweet

This is the definition of an EPIC FAIL. It’s so bad that I read that and went “WELP that’s a wrap.” Whoever was tweeting for them made the biggest mistake of their career, and therefore, it might be best for them to go occupy LinkedIn, Monster, CareerBuilder, SimplyHired, Craigslist… ALL of the above. Because they surely just lost their good job with benefits.

There’s so much fail here but I will count two of the ways.

1. The joke is ABSOLUTELY terrible. It’s completely tasteless and even if it wasn’t sent from this account, it’s still pretty offensive. How’re you gonna ki-ki about someone’s loved one dying? President Obama talked about how his grandmother didn’t get to see him in office because she passed 3 days before the election. And this is the wackness that this person thought to tweet.

Even if you’re not a Democrat, be a decent human being. COME ON, MA’AM OR SIR! You’re a jackass for this.

AND…

b. If you’re gonna live-tweet something, and it isn’t for your company, sign OUT of Hootsuite or Tweetdeck or whatever social media management tool you’re in that has your multiple accounts in it. The speed live-tweeting means it’s easy to make an error like this. Especially when there isn’t a “are you sure you wanna tweet this here?” button.

This is the fear of community managers everywhere. As someone who also manages social media accounts for brands, I get nervous about this too. But what I do is I saddown on Twitter.com for the ratchet tweeting sessions I wanna do. It helps to make sure that mistake isn’t made.

Really, the mistake itself wasn’t the big problem. Human error happens where you press the wrong button. The REAL reason this is catching hella flacks is because the joke was just atrocious.

I wonder how KitchenAid is gonna handle this. They did tweet immediately after deleting the womp one with:

KitchenAid apology tweet

Ummm… if they feel like giving me a juicer for my pain and suffering and emotional distress from viewing this tweet, I won’t be upset about it. I’m just saying.

O__O Ok I’ma go saddown.

Moral of this story: Don’t be sorry. Be careful.

P.S. the offending tweet was sent by @SherriSue. Sherri, girl. Is your resume together cuz… OOP.

    Dear KitchenAid,
This comment saddened me so. It made me realize that my microwave was old and raggedy, similar to the way Adam and Eve realized their nakedness. It was devastating. I think I could recover with a brand new 1200 watt microwave with a stoppable turntable.Thank you.

    Deeply saddened,
    Jay

P.S. The technology that eliminates cold spots would really make my heart smile.

I am absolutely traumatized and need a purple stand up mixer. But for real, since the heffalump is obviously a Republican, this is just par for their barbed wire lined course. I’m sure Onika guffawed.

There are some jokes that are off limits when it comes to a grandmother or mother never in a millions years this person should have not thought this was funny, even if he/she meant to tweet from their personal account. This is worst than a fail or epic fail, this is a fail from the pit of hell!

So…Did you notice that on her page her profile reads, “Boldly going nowhere.”?
    At least she’s honest

Who would ever hire her to do social media again, though? Like, I understand this is a mistake anyone could have made and my politics don’t necessarily reflect that of my employer, but UM….. you might need to find a new line of work, girl. Ooop.
