Top of the Hour Almost Ruined Me: Scandal Episode 216 Recap

FOUR WEEKS! It’s been four GOOD weeks without Scandal. I was the most thirsty I’d ever been for this show. It’s like someone dropped me off in a desert at high noon and said “find your way.” I needed Shonda an’ em to come back into my life and last night, they did.

*spoilers begin here*

Scandal Ruined

In case you missed it or forgot about where they left off, Jake figured out that his assignment with Fitz is personal, Prez Ghost is failing because of the American citizens being held hostage in Kashfar, Huck is perturbed and not showering and Albatross is CIA dude! So let’s jump right into it!

Press Not Pizza – A family (the Stanners) is sitting in their kitchen waiting on dinner and the doorbell rings. Their young daughter (Annie) hops up because the food they ordered must be here. She opens the door and instead of the pizza guy, there’s plenty of press with mics and cameras. They’re all shooting out questions about some affair and she screams for her parents. Uh oh! The mother calls her lawyer, who tells her that Olivia Pope will get on the job.

Liv Got Juice – Olivia is in Jake’s office waiting for them to go to dinner when her phone rings. She has to go, but before she leaves, she asks him about the hostage situation and hands him an envelope with the information on Albatross. He wonders why she isn’t taking it to the White House, asking “Aren’t you hooked up pretty good…?” Clearly, he knows President Ghost got feels for her.

Gladiators Goon In – Liv, Harrison and Abby roll into the Stanner house, with that hard walk I’m always here for. When they ring the doorbell, and the mom lets them in, and says she’s expecting Olivia Pope. She looks at Abby, and Liv says SHE’S Olivia. Sarah needed to pick her face up from the floor because that was clearly not what she was expecting.

The Gladiators spring to action, telling the Stanners to bring in any of their garbage because folks will rifle through it and Liv wants to know everything! Sarah’s hubby Phil says they’re just a normal family but Pope points at that normal is gone. Once you’re accused of having an affair with a major political figure, normal gets punted through the goalposts of life. Liv asks her what her relationship with the judge is and why could be suspected to have had an affair with him. Sarah replies with “It’s all true.” CHILE, I had to hold on to my wig cuz… WHOOO!

And I can’t go on without giving a shoutout to that white jacket with the origami bottom that Olivia had on. It was LAIDT like justice and courage!

Spying 101 with Huck – Huck and Quinn are trailing on the CIA Director, since he is Albatross. Huck says the director has a shadow who follows him everywhere and tells him what to eat. His security detail is like Weight Watchers with guns. She says “You’re good at this. Stalking people.” And he tells her “You’ll get there.” HUCKLEBERRY QUINN FOR THE WIN!

Competing for Attention – Cyrus is trying to go see President Ghost but his secretary isn’t letting him in. Then Mellie shows up with “America’s Baby.” When Fitz is told they’re both there, he picks Cyrus to see him first. Ouch. He tells Cyrus to fix the affair thing because it involves the person he wants to nominate to the Supreme Court. He basically scolded Cy and dismisses him. Then, he opens his door and grabs the baby from Mellie. As she tries to talk to him and enter, he slams it in her face.

slams door 1 slams door 2

And he did it so proper that I felt the air draft all the way from where I was. Double ouch!

Not a Teenage Love Affair – Sarah tells Olivia that the affair she had with Judge Randall was 15 years before, when she was 24, in Law School and one of his students. She was married by then too. There were emails exchanged between the two, and probably a trail to easily connect them so they agree to just come forward and admit the relationship to the press.

Apolitical Love Pocket – Cyrus finds out Olivia is representing Sarah and he calls her to say he wants her to deny the relationship because he is really important to the President and cannot afford this scandal. She tells him she isn’t working for Prez Fitz or the White House so that isn’t her business and she’s apolitical on the matter. Cy replies with “Is your vagina apolitical?” *faints* I DON DIE!

Apolitical vagina scandal 1 apolitical vagina scandal 2

Best line of the night! He says he’s gonna destroy Sarah’s reputation and Liv dares him to. Lawd, two goons facing off. I’m not ready.

Dirty Sarah, Innocent Murray – Judge Murray Randall is supposed to be Jsutice Verna’s SCOTUS replacement and is being nominated by Prez Ghost. Cyrus gets on the ball and digs up all the dirt on Sarah, including old spring break pictures, emails and old classmates of hers who are willing to speak up about her loose morals. He pulled out all the stops to paint her as some floozy who somehow lured old Murray Randall into her sexy web of deceit.

And then, Liv gets word that RyoCorp, the organization that Sarah is CEO of, is asking her to resign for violating their morality clause. Judge Randall ain’t keep his peen in his pants and Sarah’s getting her wig snatched in the media and losing her job. No justice.

Mellie’s Nosiness Fails Her – Mellie hasn’t been getting time with Fitz, since he shut her out so she forces his secretary to let her see his schedule. She sees that he makes late night phonecalls and even his secretary doesn’t know who they’re to. Girl, don’t go looking if you’re afraid about what you may find. Stay in the dark because the light gon hurt your feelings.

She immediately goes to Cyrus, questioning him about whether Fitz is sleeping with Olivia again. He tells her “Where your husband is dipping his signing pen is not my concern.” Basically, he doesn’t give half of a damb what Ghost is doing at night and can’t help her. WELP! And then he throws her some sass.

Cyrus Petty Scandal 1 Cyrus Petty Scandal 2

Hot Piece of Evidence – Jake shows up at the Stanner house outside, surprising her with the yellow envelope she gave him. He tells her that it’s super high level but tight info on the agents that were being targeted for killing in Kashfar. And he needs to know if it’s accurate and reliable before he acts on it, because it is that sensitive. She assures him that it is, and as she does, someone peeks into the garden, says Liv’s name and takes their picture. Jake wants to go after him but she tells him that it comes with the territory.

Harrison for the Fix – Harrison goes to talk to one of the heads at Sarah’s organization, and she tries to talk big to him, not knowing she’s playing with fire. Fire who is HELLA FAHN! He does his usual fast talk that shuts most people up and she looks at him like Santa Clause. He walks into the Stanner house with news that the morality clause is off the table. Harrison works FAST! Yall better respect that Gladiator in Gingham!

All Falls Down – All seems to be getting slightly fixed when they get news that there’s video tape and other evidence showing that Sarah and the judge’s affair went on for years beyond what was otherwise thought. She was having an affair with him around the time she got pregnant with her daughter? Is she his? WOOOOO!!! Phil realizes their whole marriage might have been a lie and storms out the house, pushing down one of the press folks who was in the way. Harrison gets him under control and basically drags him back in the house. Just when we thought it was going right. Sarah’s been living BOGUS! Dangggg. Also, why don’t people come clean to Liv TO START?

Huckleberry Quinn on the Job – Huck is on the phone with Quinn, watching her as she walks into a dry cleaner where the director of the CIA went. It’s the one place he goes without any of his detail and when she shows up, she’s asked if she’s picking up or dropping off. She gets back into the car wearing just her cami, with her boobs all out. She had to think fast and drop off her cardigan, leaving all her #Clevelands out. Huck hands her a shirt from the backseat and tells her that it’s important that she has the right props for these kind of occasions. Also, she is slightly proud of herself for getting the Director’s phone number while there. Huck tells her he doubts that it’s his real number.

We’re All Ruined – Cyrus tells Fitz that Olivia is representing Sarah Stanner and he gets mad, wondering if this is some sort of way to get back at him. Then he calls her. She picks up thinking it’s Cyrus and is shocked to hear President Ghost’s voice. He tells her that he initially wanted to ask her why she’s trying to sabotage his SCOTUS nominee. But really, he was calling her to talk about how hurt he was that she didn’t have the confidence in him that he’d be a good president. He doesn’t realize that she actually did, which is why she agreed to Defiance! He says: “I trusted you. You’re all I had… You ruined me.” And she replies with “I’m ruined.”

Ruined Scandal 1 Ruined Scandal 2 Ruined Scandal 3 Ruined Scandal 4

WHERE IS MY KLEENEX?!?! *wall slides* These star-crossed lovers not gon murk my thug like this when they clearly will!!!

Albatross to Fitz – As Prez Ghost hangs up, Jake comes in and he says he doesn’t want updates on Olivia because he knows what she’s up to. But he ain’t come for that anyway. Jake was there to tell him about Albatross, with information on where the hostages were and he wanted to come to Fitz to tell him so he could say the word and have them move on it. The President is stunned. Officer Truman Show walks out and Mellie sees him, with this curious glint in her eye.

An Occasion for Wine – Liv is with Sarah, who is miserable about her failing marriage. Sarah wants Olivia to have a drink of wine with her, and she wouldn’t take no for an answer. Lawd knows they both need it to take the edge off. She says she was saving it for a special occasion, and when her husband called her a whore, she thought that occasion had arrived.

Liv wine Scandal

Take it to the head, Liv!

Pope tells her “It’s not that you never told him the truth. It’s that you let him believe a lie.” Liv be speaking HER own truth to others. Annie, Sarah’s daughter, might not be her husband’s daughter and she asks Liv how you fix betrayal. “Betrayal always has a price.” Liv surely knows what that price is. MMHMM!

Quinn is Learning – As they keep spying on Osbourne (the CIA chief), Quinn wonders why he’d go to a drycleaners alone. And then she has a lightbulb moment, realizing that it must be his dropoff spot of the money being sent to the hostage holders. AW SHIT! She tests it out by going into the laundromat, using the number of the CIA that she got last time and they give her his clothes. When she gets in the car, she finds an envelope with MAD cash in it. This confirms her suspicion. But she didn’t want it to seem like she was onto it so she took the suits back, saying she was given the wrong clothes. Quinn is getting GOOD! Yes ma’am!

Annie, Are You Okay? – Liv walks into the Stanner house and sees Annie at the kitchen table. She asks her why she isn’t in school, and the young girl tells her she found out that her dad might not be her real dad. Olivia assures her that no matter what, he will always be her father. Aawww, Annie. It’s gon be ok.

Kashfar Raid and Mortal Kombat – President Ghost moved on that Albatross info, getting a team to land in Kashfar to raid the place where the hostages are. He tells Cyrus right before the raid happens, telling him he handled what he was supposed to. As the defense team watches the raid happen live in the War Room, some masked man is in a house that isn’t his, looking for something. Someone shows up and the masked man (who I thought might have been Huck) fights him and gets punched a couple of times, but ends up beating him up and taking his camera. It was like Mortal Kombat, as he had homeboy on the floor bleeding. Seems what he was looking for was the picture of Jake and Olivia, which shows up on the viewfinder. It’s Jake.

The Kashfar raid was a success and the hostages were freed without any of them getting hurt. The War Room went nuts and fist pumps were all around. But the CIA director was in his chair looking like he saw a ghost. OOPS.

Jakes takes off his mask and gets a call from Fitz, thanking him for the intel. He has a black eye and says he was just doing his job.

Betrayal and Blackmail – Abby and Harrison are talking about the Stanners and the topic of betrayal comes up. She said folks get over it, like she got over him ruining her relationship with David. He apologizes and she tells him she knows he’s a gladiator first and a person second so it’s part of what he does. Abby doesn’t lie. She just happens to be a pain in the ass. Anywho, she comes up with an idea to save Sarah’s job, which is being decided on in a board meeting at RyoCorp that day.

The Gladiators show up at the meeting with a box. As the members threaten to get them thrown out, they say they’re there to make sure Mrs. Stanner keeps her job. They say they have dirt on everyone at that table and are willing to start spilling it all. One member hops before Harrison finishes his countdown and suddenly, the morality clause is off the table again and her job is safe. If all else fails, blackmail.

Where is Maury? – Liv is sitting with Phil and Sarah with a white envelope that has the results of the paternity test. She slides it to Phil and tells him not to let whatever is in it change his life. In that week, the Stanners had been through more than some couples in 2 decades and it’s just a piece of paper. “The two of you have been thru a war. You have wounds. The only thing that will let that heal is time.” Phil looks at the envelope, rips it in half and slides it back to Olivia. ATTA BOY! But ummm… I kinda wanna know who the papi is. O_O

Fitz’ New Cyrus – Mellie goes to see Cyrus, who is a bit butthurt that he is still not in President Ghost’s confidence, as he was shut out the Kashfar thing. He tells Mellie that he doesn’t think Fitz is cheating on her and she tells him “He’s not cheating on me, Cy. He’s cheating on you.” And she slides him Jake’s pic. She’s so damb petty.

Jakes’ Unexpected Visit – Olivia’s doorbell rings, and she opens it to find Jake with a black eye. He tells her he got mugged and she lets him in. He sits down on her couch, and looks directly into the camera and smiles. What a creep! I do not trust him one bit!

creeperjake

And if someone shows up to MY house talmbout they got mugged, I’d ask them why they didn’t go to the police? I ain’t 911!

Albatross be Knowing – Albatross gets a call from the guy who runs the drycleaners and he looks on his phone and there’s 2 pictures of Quinn on it. AW NAW!!! He’s on to her. Quinn, you in danger girl! She bet not die! I’m finally starting to tolerate her. Huck, stand by your girl! Let Huckleberry Quinn be a thing.

Chile… I wanna thank Motha Shonda for not pulling the usual “slay us all in the last 30 secs” stunt. My blood pressure thanks you. Shonda pulled something but it wasn’t the kind of stunt that has me busting out epic *wall slides* on all vertical surfaces in my house. But I feel like she’s prepping us for some gut punch things to come. I cannot stand down. STAY VIGILANTE, GLADIATORS!

I think Jake really does like Olivia. He was just asked by the President to watch her. I mean, she’s fahn and single. He made a play. The photographer’s picture was just proof that he’s doing more than watching her and he doesn’t want his old friend Ftiz to find out.

Yes. I co-sign this. Also, I’m here for any and all episodes where Captain Felicity is shirtless.

      • March 22, 2013 at 1:44 pm

I fully support Jake ,because to me Jake is kinda like our boy in that he’s been watching Olivia just like we have (*Except he gets paid) and in doing his job he fell in love with Olivia just like us, The creepy one to me in all this is Fitz. Fits is the one who has been having the government stalk this women. now the camera thing might have been a Lil cheesy but I also feel like it’s gone come back to bite him.
and the camera man beat down was a security measure Fitz could see it and the game would be over. no more job, no more liv, fitz would throw a tantrum!

    • March 23, 2013 at 3:00 pm

Yeah but why smile at the hidden camera though, that was too creepy for me. Does he think he’s gonna make a sex tape?

      • Blackmonarchny
        March 23, 2013 at 5:35 pm

I think that smile was for Fitz. Eventually he’s going to pull them to have a private showing for himself. Jake is probably anticipating being in a relationship with Liv by such time.

that’s a good point that that smile into the camera might be for Fitz… for payback?…but for what? it’s go to be connected with their time in the navy because why were we shown his navy pix with Fitz in them?? it’s going to be interesting as the rest of the season unfolds…

Loved when Fitz shut the door in Mellie’s face. It was SWEET.

Fitz finally said why he is so angry that Liz. She did everything to build him up and believe in himself then rigs the election. It feels like she was laughing at him behind his back even if she wasn’t. It is a step in the right direction though because he is trying to talk about it even if not very well.

Don’t like Jake and don’t think he’s cute either. Still waiting to see a viable love interest for Olivia introduced although it seems she and Fitz will always have the love.

Cyrus needs to blank Mellie out as she is not helping with anything. Ignore her like Fitz does but Cy is too selfish and as power hungry as Mellie.

If the reporter died, Liv will find out and put 2 and 2 together eventually. If he lives, he may report he was beaten up by a person unknown and his property stolen which would still make Liv think and could lead her to cray Jake. Either way, no free pass for Jakey.

The twists and turns give me a headache.

    March 22, 2013 at 5:42 am

I figured that was Jake ransackin’ that man’s house because I recognized his baby blues behind that mask. But here is my philosophical twist on him staring into his own camera at Liv’s house. He’s smirking into one of his cameras, but he knows nobody is at his place watching so who is he smirking at? Us? Maybe *we* are the stalkers. He basically broke the fourth wall with a sledgehammer. And I do kinda stalk this show. Hmmmm……or maybe he was just smirking so he could watch the playback at home. But I kinda like to think that the writers are calling us stalkers just because they can.

Also Jake is a strong, well trained military dude and he got mugged? I’m not buying it. Liv is a little too open with her apartment and letting folks just come on in. Amanda Tanner was hemmed up in there, Puddin’ Pop had a key, and somehow some secret cameras were installed while she was out fixin’ folks. In her world shouldn’t Huck be scanning her apartment on a regular? Shouldn’t she at least have some kind of alarm system? A little mini-motion detector, a security camera in the hall that links to OPA offices? I don’t even have company coming in and out of my apartment like that and I have a deadbolt and an extra security door jamb. I hope Cyrus digs up the info on Jake and somehow finds out he’s peeper-creeping on Olivia and lets her know.

    • Adia
      March 22, 2013 at 5:45 am

*meant to say Jake ‘says’ he got mugged. Seriously he should have said he was at kickboxing class or something else believable for a military man.

        March 22, 2013 at 8:26 am

I was like, really? YOU got mugged? A highly trained military operative got mugged? Was this mugger a karate instructor down on his luck? Is Bruce Lee coming back from the dead to mug people because I thought you had skills? I hope Olivia sees thru that story, but I guess its hard to see past those blue eyes, lol. That’s like Beyonce saying she forgot to pack her good lace front wigs on her new world tour. Really? Child, BYE!!

I said that too! With ALL the political dramas they get mixed up in, shouldn’t she be a bit more careful? I also felt that Olivia Pope would be a bit well-known in Washington circles-she worked for the PRESIDENT! You would see her behind him at the podium, I’m sure DC papers and magazines would feature her from time to time-HOW could you mistake Abby for her?

      • Adia
        March 22, 2013 at 10:43 am

YESSSS!!!! People stay not knowing Oliva Pope! I don’t get that at all!! The wife was looking all perplexed when she told her husband “They’re sending someone named Olivia Pope???” How do you not know who she is! She should have been like “OH THANK GOD! They’re sending Olivia Pope!”. Then she coulda popped that $300 bottle of wine because she would have known it was gonna be okay.

I BEEN asking why Huck isn’t watching Liv’s apartment regularly! There’s no way Jakey Jake should have been able to sneak in there all willy nilly like that, but he obviously has skills too.

  7. Absurdist
    March 22, 2013 at 6:13 am

I do have to say that I thought Liv was slicker than to get called out by a 12-year old on trying to sneak DNA. At least Quinn has an excuse; she’s still in training.

Liv gets a big-ass bottle of expensive wine FOR HERSELF. Sarah has got it made.

Have they got David Rosen and Molly hidden off somewhere? One hopes, if Daddy CIA is about to bust one out on somebody.

The Huckleberry Quinn thing doesn’t sit right with me. Huck HAD to have known better than to hang Quinn out like that of course they’re gonna be onto her…it’s the CIA

    And Creepy Jake is creepy.

    • Erica P
      March 22, 2013 at 8:40 am

I agree that Huck HAD to know he’d be on to her. I think he let her do it to try and draw him away from his men so that they could get him alone (with the added benefit of training Quinn to think for herself)

And as for Jake! I can’t decide about him. I think he genuinely likes Liv but I also think he’s creepy. Nonetheless, I like that he’s someone Liv can smile and laugh with because she needs that right now.

I think you’re right about Huck. He’s a smart dude. He is probably setting it up so that Albatross will separate from his ‘crew’ and then Huck will step in and take care of that little problem. At least, I *hope* that’s what happens.

SOOOOO glad this show and your recaps are back. My husband thinks I am SO crazy because he watches me scream, yell and cry at the TV and than rush to my Kindle Fire to check your twitter feed during the commercial break. Don’t act like it’s just me that feels that Luvvie is my online bff, lol! I learned early not to have my laptop around because when I wall slide, wave my arms and roll around on the floor, things get broke, but my Kindle Fire is Otter tough, lol! I was SOOOOO ready for this show to come back on, why Mama Shonda why! But, I knew it was worth the wait. What I can’t figure out is why the CIA director is the mole? Do the terrorist have somethign on him? You know Mama Shonda will have a twist up on that one and my body is ready for it!

Loving the new Huckleberry Quinn thing, glad I am not the only want that thinks Huck (and FINE Harrison) can get it, get it ALL (sorry hubby) and I think Shonda is setting us up for Huck having to rescue Quinn or she is being used as bait, either one works for me 🙂

I am SO glad that little moment happend when Abbey was mistaken for THE Ms. Oliva Pope, it was a subtle hat tip that racism still exists. And I thought it was a good teachable moment because I am sure Shonda has had that look her dang self.
Can’t wait for next week, so glad I have Thursdays to look forward to again. Scandal is my LIFE 🙂

So glad the show is back.

Cameraguy doesn’t creep me out as much as I thought he would. I get him. He knows this is person for the President, and so, getting involved means that he’ll be getting into it with the Prez.

The CIA guy don’t know….you mess with Quinn, who I don’t even like… you get Huck…and you don’t wanna get Huck…you’re a pencil pusher, while Huck is a grunt that your people couldn’t break…who’s gonna come out on top of that.

Cyrus and Mellie cracked me up.

I didn’t feel bad for the Pres…..he needs to buck it up.

I too was going through Scandal withdrawals. FOUR WEEKS!!!

    Anyway…

    1) Even my momma was drooling over O’s jacket.

    2) My feelings where hurt when Cyrus asks Olivia about her apolitical vagina. I was like really Cy? Really?

Cyrus be getting real mean with Olivia sometimes, but then will come sit her couch, drink wine and talk about their love problems.

    3) I really need Pres. Fitz to get it together. It’s been almost a year (in tv time) and he’s still holding on to grudges. He needs to pull up his panties and keep it moving.

    4) I’m totally on the fence with Jake. I really just can’t get a good read on him.

As always, thank you for your recap!

    • March 22, 2013 at 10:14 am

Cyrus is like that bitchy girlfriend we all have. She will be ready to say some mess to you to get you all up in your feelings, then come to your house at three in the morning, crying about the ninja that jacked her love and life.

Olivia’s clothes are truly what dreams are made of. Really.

Jake needs some anti-psychotic pills…that smirk at the end was downright scary

  14. March 22, 2013 at 10:11 am

First, I was preparing for last night’s show like I was getting ready to go out and party (except with pajamas and snacks). Second, Mellie was working that red lace dress. Sure hate that she got the door face plant.

Even the fabulous Ms. Pope has to let people know who she is! I made my husband high-five me when she said “I am Olivia Pope” when Sarah reached for Abby’s hand. It was like that moment so many of us have had in our own lives. You will recognize the caramel greatness that is Olivia Pope and you will deal. Yes Ma’am.

President Ghost is becoming rude as HELL!!! I don’t know if it’s the head injury or his still being salty over Defiance, but there is nothing nice about him. I was even mad Fitz had the nerve to call to let Olivia know he is all up in his feelings and wall sliding every damn where. “You ruined me.” Nah Ghost, you ruined yourself. Does he not realize she did it because she thought he would be great? Wait ’til he finds out Jake is trying to get in where he used to fit in. It will not be pretty.

Sarah had a walk-in closet full of skeleton bones. Every time she opened her mouth her husband got hit with a femur or a rib. Her husband was pretty much like “Really?!?! COME ON!!!” I felt bad for him, and his wife shoulda just laid it ALL out. You cannot just put tidbits of past hoe-ness and ratchedness and not expect the rest of it to come tumbling out with it (or so I heard). But drinking $300 bottles of wine like it was Cisco or MD 20/20 wrapped in a wrinkly paper bag looked like the business – that is how women with style take it to the head. o__O

Quinn is absorbing all her Huck lessons! I love Huckleberry Quinn! He schooled her like she was going through the Rosetta Stone course on Goonery! Now he is gonna have to watch her back, though I suspect if Albatross goes after Quinn, Huck will end him. And it will not be pretty.

I was just starting to feel Jake whe nhe did the creepy smile thing into the camera knowing he was recording everything. After all that scissor kicking and throat punching, he still had creepiness on his mind. We might be getting set up for Fitz having to save Liv from the stalker he let loose on her. He may be mad at her, but he does not want anyone else to have her, and I don’t think he wants anybody to hurt her.

Shonda has done it again! She has provided me with my fix and I cannot wait for next week’s episode! Thanks for the stellar recap, Luvvie!

This was a setting-up-the-new plots episode for me. So many new questions were raised. The biggest one for me:
    1. who was the camera man and why did he have the camera in Kashfar with that picture? That made no sense to me.
    2. The CIA director…what is his interest in this? Is there a link to Defiance?
    3. When is Liv going to see Fitz as a selfish, insensitive, mean-spirited, non-forgiving jerk? So he doesn’t care that she is ruined? Fine. She should care about finding someone who does care.
    4. Quinn-in-training. What Huck skills is she going to have to use on CIA man?
    5. Mellie-the-desparate. She is eventually going to lose it…her grip on life is becoming apparant. She controls no one now. She’s going to make a whole lot of mistakes now for sure.
    6. Harrison-the-beautiful. He is smelling to good these days. What on earth is Shonda going to do to make us not like him? Something is bound to be in the works.
    7. Jake-the-sneak. He’s getting too bold and feeling way too familiar. Showing up twice at her home uninvited and referencing stuff he should have no clue about. I am a bit frightened of him.
    8. Cyrus-the-thirsty. He’s gotta be super upset that Liv, his protege, bested him. He’s a revenge kinda guy…what’s he going to do?

This show should really come on twice a week.

Was it noted that the mother thought that Abby (the white girl) was Olivia instead of the sistah? Um hmmmm…. Ok….

My first post (been lurking for a minute) and you’re insightful and fun at the same time!

Hey everybody. Another great recap from you luvvie!!! Here are my thoughts:

OPA- I just watched season 1 all over again so I’m really happy to see the show return back to the case of the week. That’s one of the reasons I feel in love with the show to begin with. The case was just scandalous all around! Gotta LOVE Harrison. He’s just too smooth and sexy all at the same time lol. I’m liking this new
Quinn and abby is getting back to being a gladiator. I hope she really is over the Harrison betrayal because they work well together. You just gotta love the whole Quinn and huck dynamic. They work so well together. She’s gonna get quite the education maybe even start drinking that “whiskey” lol. I knew that guy was
onto Quinn because she was too obvious. Now it’s about to get real and huck may have to drink more whiskey to save Quinn and you know he will.

Cyrus- It’s good to see cyrus get back to the monster we all know him to be lol. He was pretty much doing his version of fixing things if you think about it. I think it’s crazy that when fitz is shutting him out he’s running back to Olivia to complain but when things are good between him and fitz he throws Olivia to the wolves. I wonder how he’s gonna handle all of this jake ballard stuff. He shouldn’t have gotten too comfortable thinking fitz had really let him back in.

Mellie- It’s time for her to hang it up. The man don’t want you mellie and your starting to lose all credibility and respect as the first lady. Did y’all see how when she walked in the room and said “What are we celebrating” and everybody just looked
at her and didn’t answer? If that doesn’t say “no respect for the first lady” I don’t know what does. Is it me or does mellie know Jake Ballard? When she saw him leave the office she had a look on her face like she knew him. I wasn’t surprised that she did her digging on him.

Fitz- UGH!!! I’m getting pretty sick of fitz to be honest. I’m so tired of him whining. So what she rigged the election. She did it because she loved him. And just when I think he can’t go any lower he calls her just to whine and complain about he’s ruined. Last time I checked you were still the president and none of the American people know that the election was rigged. I think he should just suck
it up and turn that negative into a positive and use that platform to be the best president he can and if anything prove everybody else wrong who doubted him and thought he wouldn’t make a good president. Anywho I’m on the fence with fitz right now. He has to work hard to get back into my good graces.

Jake- You know on one end I’m really liking this dude! He really seems like he’s into Olivia and not to mention he’s nice to look at LOL. I knew he was gonna track that guy down and get that camera chip so fitz wouldn’t find out. That alone shows me that he really likes her and wants to be with her. However maybe I missed something but was he suppose to give fitz that information and did he pass it
off as his own? I don’t think so because he said it was an anonymous
source. I do have to say I loved when he sat down and then winked at the camera. I said to myself this man got balls. It’s good to know that he’s not afraid of fitz and is willing to fight for liv.
I think this is gonna blow up in fitz face as well it should because he shouldn’t have been spying on her in the first place. Jake is looking good to me right now and they are suppose to kiss on the next episode so that should surely spark something.

Olivia- Again I’m glad to see she’s back to fixing things and doing what she’s good at. I don’t know for some reason it felt like we didn’t see enough of her in the episode though but that could just be me. The whole phone call thing was B.S. I don’t think she should be pining after him. I like how firm she was with him when he
first called but then her voice started cracking. He was rude as usual but she still held her own. At this point if he don’t wanna listen then so be it. She can’t keep running herself into the ground over it. Like she said to her client it he can’t forgive you then you have to forgive yourself. That to me meant forgive yourself and move on with your life! I want her to go further with jake but I just know there’s gonna be a twist with him but I’m hoping that’s not the case.

All in all another great episode!!!!!

THE TRUTH ABOUT FITZ! Tell it! I’m tired of him, his whining, his drinking, everything. He needs to find a meeting and shut up and stop disrespecting our girl, because you don’t get to say you are ruined WHEN YOU ARE TEH LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD!

Love the recaps and the comments! Will try to lurk less…..

@CeeFu- LOL did I go in on him or what? I mean don’t get me wrong of course I like fitz but he’s becoming a whiny sorry excuse for a president. Pick your balls up and take care of business. All of the drinking and the disrespect to olivia is not acceptable. I’m not making any excuses for him.

Once again, Ghost is proving why he needed a little help getting into that office. Man he’s a big ole baby. I’m really close to putting him in the same bucket with Puddin’ Pop (Edison). Pass him another bottle of Scotch.

Judy Smith said it all in her tweet last night: @JudySmith_ Never hold back information from anyone trying to help you.

I see Mellie as sitting on the curb just shaking her head. Her husband doesn’t like her, the folks in the office with Cy proved they don’t like her. I wonder if her baby likes her?

Abby, Harrison broke you and David up for the greater good. While the coffee and movie dates aren’t happening you are still getting some. Are you a Gladiator or what?

I love Huckleberry Quinn! She’s learning but Huck needs to teach her to never let down her guard.

I’m bracing myself for the build-up and season finale. After watching Grey’s for years, I know Shonda will always leave you with something to talk about, scratch your head and stare blankly at a wall.

@nichole- I love your comment especially what you said about fitz. He’s proving why he needed liv all along. I love what judy tweeted. I don’t know what people lie to olivia and then believe that she won’t find out. She said in season 1 that that’s her one rule DO NOT LIE.

That door in Mellie’s face couldn’t have been any more shadeful. It was so well orchestrated that you know he has been doing that on the regular for the past year since he first said he wanted a divorce.

“And if someone shows up to MY house talmbout they got mugged, I’d ask them why they didn’t go to the police? I ain’t 911!” – Ummmmm, basically.

“Quinn, you in danger girl!” – I love that you did this. I still to this day find reason to randomly holler “Molly, you in danger girl!”

I know Liv is busy and whatnot but why hasn’t she at least Googled this Jake dude cause that is NOT his real name. Have Huck run a check. Something. Damn Liv!!!

I might be the only person who is rooting for Jake. I know his fate on the show is literally already sealed. But I like him. I know the camera thing is creepy as hell. But why is everyone blaming Jake for that. hello! Fitz is making him do it. Jake is a surrogate creep. Fitz is the real creep, and, can I just remind everyone, a murderer. Y’all ready to forgive Fitz for everything!! lol. but, i get it. damn Liv and Fitz sizzle together. Anyway, i don’t hate Jake. just wish folks would give him a chance. problem is that any man is gonna have stiff competition when it comes to Fitz. I’m looking forward to the Liv/Jake kiss and hoping to see some chemistry there.

The white jacket, funny when I saw her in it, I said Ms. Luvvie is getting her life from that jacket right now, lol.

But, all I can say is that I am SO happy that the wait is over!!! Because that 4 weeks felt like MONTHS!!!

  31. March 23, 2013 at 8:54 am

I watched this episode twice and you still give me stuff I missed. That’s why I have to come here for this. Your graphics floor me. I think Quinn was sloppy and now I fear for her. I love Jake for Liv, I despise the FItz crap! She deserves better but he is slightly creepy. I thought it was a great episode. I’m ready for more as usual. Shonda does not disappoint EVER!

Dear Luvvie you are doing wonderful things from Lagos to SXSW. Congratulations on getting what you have worked for, cause we know nothing is what you get for free. Now I admit I have googled and mainlined a whole bunch of other Scandal blogs (and there are a lot of people need to be paying Shonda Rhimes a commission for this thriving side business that is Scandal commentary) while you have been tripping the light fantastic. But I don’t mind saying you are the best and like Sophia I home Lawd.
    Everything you said.
    Olivia Pope’s outfits. The. End.
Fitz get a life and stop abusing all the women around you. Yes you love Olivia and no longer love Mellie but shutting the door in her face in front of your secretary. I would have gone all The Shining with an axe on it and him. Just stop.
And stop being manipulated. Start figuring things out. Shonda is writing this man into an unloveable corner that even the Olitz chemistry might not be able to fix. And that pisses me off.
I am so turned off I am even cheering Jake who let us be clear was hired to watch her by you know who. This would make Fitz the Head Mr Creepy innit?
There were some good scenes tonight but my favourite was Harrison and Abby. It said all you needed to know about this show which is every emotion is a fungible commodity. It made me sad but won’t stop me watching.
And sometimes you need to mainline shiraz or a good cabernet like a wino which made that scene my second favourite.
This Scandal thing may not be Achebe but things sure do fall apart when the centre doesn’t hold. RIP.

@Gaile Walters- I cosign everything you just said!!! I too have gone to some other scandal blogs and it annoys me with people who are trying to make money off of the scandal commentary. I mean why can’t they just do like luvvie and write a review about the episode and provide their opinions and let us express ours? People have full blog pages dedicated to scandal and I get it if that’s their thing but it’s a bit ridiculous and unnecessary in my opinion. They think because they twit the scandal writers or get acknowledged by the network that they means they’re gonna be hired and be apart of the scandal cast and crew. Get a life for real. I also like what you said about fitz. It’s getting crazy with him and he’s becoming very rude and disrespectful and I don’t know how he and olivia can get back together but some fans are still rooting for it. I honestly don’t know what will happen.

Hey hold up and watch out a minute I have no beef with the other bloggers I think what everyone is doing is great and there is a nothing wrong with connecting with whomever they wish or furthering their careers. Only unity me a deal with. Scandal is great but it’s just a show and people should be free to have and express any view they wish.
I like all the comments, commentary and everything. As Ms Luvvie would say it’s all good in this dancerie.

@Gaile Walters- Oh no I didn’t mean it that way. I’m talking about some of the things that I have come in contact with. I agree that it’s great what others are doing but like you said it’s just a show so I don’t go too overboard with the fandom stuff. I just love to watch the show and then comment with everyone but I’ve had my fair share of people going a bit crazy especially when you give your opinion about a character they like. I have no beef myself. I just think some other blogs do too much and some other commentators get too defensive about fictional characters.

But let’s not forget how President Ghost murked Verna, and then gave a glowing eulogy at her funeral. You wanna talk about covering shit up, Fitz?

You were, and still are, having an affair with Olivia while you are a married man. And you would’ve happily kept lying about it, if Mellie hadn’t been smart enough to know damn better. You wanna talk about liars, Fitz?

By all means, pull up a chair. Let’s discuss some shit. Because your integrity is not as in tact as you believe it to be, sir.
