Scandal Left Me in a Glass Case of 752 Emotions for Huck: Episode 219 Recap

We’ve all been fiending for Scandal because it’s been gone for 3 weeks and the state it left us in was NO good! Last episode had me falling all over the place in anticipation of what’s next. They came back with a BANG that was less about action and more about pulling at our heartstrings. Chile… let’s just get into it!

Seven Fifty Two Scandal (550x413) (500x375)

5 Years Ago – Olivia is at a subway stop when she sees a hairy homeless man who looks like Hagrid from Harry Potter sitting on the floor. She puts some bills in his cup and promises him that the next day, she’s gonna buy him coffee. That guy is Huck. Also, shoutout to Liv’s fierce gray leather knee boots.

Liv Scandal Train Liv Scandal Train 2

I Hate/Love You – The doctor tells Olivia she had a nasty concussion but if all goes well, they will discharge her in the morning. He turns around and President Ghost thanks him for taking such good care of his “friend.” As soon as the doc leaves, Fitz walks up to Liv’s bed and tries to kiss her but she rebuffs him and says “I hate you.” “I know.” “You left me all alone.” “I’m sorry. I was wrong. I’m sorry.” He feels bad with how they left things off and wants to fix it but Liv doesn’t believe him.

Rocking BAGGINFOAF – The Gladiators find out that Olivia is in the hospital and they’re doubly worried because Huck is in the corner rocking back and forth like Miss Sofia. His back is to the wall and his feet are on the floor, which Quinn says it’s to make him feel a bit grounded. He’s saying “752” over and over again. Poor Huck is in BAD shape!

14 Years Ago – A woman (Kim) is reading to her group of preschoolers when a soldier sneaks up behind her. She turns around, sees Huck (who is clean-shaven) and gives him a huge hug and a kiss as the kids go “eewww.” Next, they’re laying in bed, and he says he’s home for good. His duty overseas is over and he took some exam that might get him another job. But he’s home. And they spoon.

Huck is home Huck is home 2

DAAAAWWWWW!

Wonderland Activated – Huck (in his military uniform) is called into an office for a meeting. The guy sitting behind the desk tells him that he wants to give him a job, with great pay. He slides him the piece of paper with the amount he’ll be making and Huck asks “what’s the job?” Dude tells him that according to the personality exam he took, he has the perfect skills it takes, and he could test 1,000 men and none would be as great as him. Huck says he knows the guy behind him with a bulge in his pants isn’t just happy to be there. He knows there are two cameras and the guy in the suit is rocking one that doesn’t draw attention to him. THAT is exactly why he’d be perfect to be a member of this secret ops but he’s not interested.

Suit dude says since he isn’t married and doesn’t have kids, his other choice is to do another tour in Kosovo. BLACKMAILING MY MAIN MAN! “This is wonderland, son. Your whole life changes today. All you have to do is say yes.”  There was no gun to Huck’s head, but there was basically a gun to his head. Huck says “yes.” And the guy behind him with the gun in his pants? CHARLIE!

Harrison’s Hospital Hoopla – Harrison is standing in front of two Secret Service agents at the hospital and they aren’t letting him in. He tries to convince Hal to let him through but he wasn’t having it.

Harrison: Unless the President is sharing my boss’ hospital room, I expect the freedom of movement, granted to me by the Constitution, et cetera.

Hal: I understand, Sir.

Harrison: So you’ll let me go.

Hal: No, Sir.

HarrisonHalScandal

Oh. OHHHHHHH!!! Right.

Well, he turns around and sees Charlie, who’s in a baseball cap and holding flowers. He recognizes him and goes after him but misses him as the elevator closes so he takes the stairs. He gets to the first floor and stands in front of the elevator and when the door opens, all he sees are the flowers. WELP!

No Mr. Miyagi – Flashback to Huck in a room with Charlie, who brings out guns and other weapons as he explains what they do. They torture and kill enemies of the state and traitors of the country. He says “Pro tip: always do your job on trash day” because he can get rid of bodies quicker and if anyone goes looking for them, they’d be long gone. Outchea dropping criminal dimes. DON’T TAKE NOTES! But knowing that he trained him puts a lot of things about their dynamic into perspective. Charlie was Huck’s goon mentor. Like an evil Mr. Miyagi. Assassin kid.

First Taste of Whiskey – Huck’s first assignment is a defense contractor who he follows into a garage. Guy looks at his watch, noting that his kids got it for him and he doesn’t know how to work it. Huck, sticks a syringe in his back, and the guy wakes up in a room, where Huck tortures and finally kills him.

First Whiskey Huck Scandal First Whiskey Huck Scandal 2

His first taste of whiskey. Charlie asks him how it felt and he admits it was amazing. And it started his tradition of taking the watch of every person he kills, possibly as some trophy. @NealCarter on Twitter said that 7:52 was the time on the watch of the contractor who got slayed. Hmmm…

Just Talk – Harrison calls Olivia and says he was at the hospital but he wasn’t allowed in. He sees the dude who “did it,” the one in the baseball cap and she looks outside her door and says she’s safe. He notes that he isn’t tryna get in her business but he saw Secret Service there. You know Harrison is ALWAYS here for Liv but I think he was giving her the side-eye, which I wouldn’t blame him for. The topic gets on Huck, and she’s updated about his constant repetition of “752” and even she doesn’t know what it means. But she tells him to make sure the Gladiators talk to Huck, even if he doesn’t respond.

Broken Huckleberry Quinn – Quinn sits next to Huck and starts talking about how she always knew she would get married. Her boyfriend Jesse was probably gonna be the one but he got blown up, she lost her identity as Lindsey and basically had her life ruined. We say she’s annoying but she got every right to be. She turns to Huck and tells him to pull out of whatever he’s in, counting down from 5. She gets to 1 and he stops saying 752. For 3 seconds. And picks the chant back up, this time at a faster pace.

Huck in Love – Kim gets pregnant and he asks her to marry him. The smile on his face was one we’ve never seen before, and it was joy. Aawwww! But we can’t forget that his life is getting darker as he gets more and more assignments. The day his son was born, he almost missed it because he had to finish one of his assignments. He made it to the hospital in time to see his son enter the world. And our dude cried. Yeah… BruhMan Huck cried. IT WAS SO SWEET!

Lil Huck Born 1 Lil Huck Born 2

Hard Time – The next assignment Huck had, as he killed the man like he always does, he broke down and cried. He’s a father and husband now so maybe the killing had him crying because he realized the humanity of his victims. IDK but the thug tears flowed. And I thought 752 must have been the number of watches he’s collected (people he’s killed).

Damage Control – Cyrus comes to the hospital and finds Prez Ghost there. He goes AWF, asking him if he knows how much damage control has to be done as press finds out the President went to the hospital in the middle of the night. He DID just get show in the head 10 months before. You know Cy can’t NOT be shadeful so he had to throw in how he doesn’t have time for this “late night booty call.” HA! Too bad Fitz ain’t give a damb. He shrugged him off as Jake walks in and introduces the two of them.

Abby’s Pain – Abby’s talk with Huck is about how 752 is probably the number of times he’s put himself on the line for Liv. What’s on her mind is how she had to sacrifice love for Liv. Losing her relationship to David, who is a good guy who keeps ending up in unfortunate circumstances (Lemony Snicket). She’s clearly butthurt about this, and blames Liv (as she should). BUT she also knows that she owes a lot to her because “she saves you and she turns you into a Gladiator.”

Abby Scandal

Oh Abby. She seems to hate that she loves Liv.

No Takebacks – Looking back, Huck walks into his house, and heads to the kitchen where Kim is with a guest who is holding and playing with their son. That guy is Charlie. NAWLLLL!!! This ain’t part of the deal! iRebuke you, Satan! When the men are alone, Charlie tells Huck that him being married with a kid isn’t part of the deal. “GET RID OF THEM OR I WILL!”

When Charlie leaves, Huck goes in his piano and starts pulling out guns. His wife is alarmed as he tells her to go pack their stuff because they need to disappear for a couple of years. She asks him if he’s dealing drugs and he says no and shuts down any attempt of questioning. He just needs to go to the bank, and when he gets back, they need to leave. I was in my house yelling “Don’t leave them alone, Huck! Don’t leave your wife and son alone! NOOOO!” But he ain’t hear me, doe. He rushes out the house and is opening his car door when a car pulls up. UH OH!

Huck is thrown in a floor cell and locked in it with no light as Charlie watches. NOOOOO!!! They’re gonna hurt his family and I’m not ok with it! And some of us guessed that maybe they killed Huck’s family at 7:52.

All Talk – Harrison is out of his tie and talks to Huck about how all his life, he’s gotten away with anything because of his gift of gab. But he knows that Huck is a man of few words. “I spent my life tryna get out of homework when you spent your life as a warrior. A REAL gladiator…All I am. All I’ve ever been. Was talk.”

HArrison Scandal

As Harrison speaks his truth and shows a side we’ve NEVER seen. If he is nothing else, he is steadfast in his loyalty. He can fast forward talk to me ALL night. I wouldn’t mind.

Stay Down – Back to Huck in the floor jail. They’d open up and ask him “do you have a wife and son?” and he’d yell “YES!” and they’d shut the door. He went from the clean-shaven man they threw in to the abominable snowman. At this point, we thought he might have been in there for 752 days.

Benedict Hal – Fitz’s secret service dude, Hal, tells Mellie that they were at the hospital the night before, seeing Liv. That snitching ass mofo! Why is he such a Benedict Arnold?? UGH! She thanks him for his service and he leaves.

No Air – Liv is getting ready to leave the hospital and President Ghost is still there, waiting for her. Sir, dontchu got a country to run and places to be? He tells Liv that Defiance changed everything and he was devastated to find out that she didn’t think he could win the office on his own. Fitz thought the worst of Liv when Defiance happened, not knowing she only agreed to it because she saw the BEST in him.

She tells him to leave and he asks her if she still loves him. She says she does. But what’s love gotta do wit it?? Fitz tells her that in the past 10 months, “I have learned only one thing. That I cannot exist without you. That I cannot breathe without you.”

Fitz Liv Scandal

HOW AM I ‘POSED TO BREATHE WITH NO AIR?!? *swoons* You tell me some ish like that and you might could get the business in that hospital room. And you know Liv has no power against Ghostie and his words. They make out like teenagers under the school bleachers but she pulls away and runs out the room. Maybe she remembered that she smashed the homie, Jake.

Mellie the Maid – Mellie walks in Fitz’s office and says she’s leaving him. She will be moving to the house across the street, but she can access it by tunnel so no one will know. But she’s done playing second fiddle to him and his “whore.” WATCH YOUR MOUTH, MELLIE! I mean, yeah, I’d call my husband’s mistress that and MUCH worse. Fitz isn’t even moved until she says she’s taking Teddy (America’s baby) with her. “You’re not taking my son.” The hell she ain’t. I feel like Mellie’s Mimi and Liv is like Joseline in this case.

Conflict of Interest – Cyrus calls Charlie and asks him to find out what the relationship between Jake and Liv is because he needs proof. Meanwhile, Jake meets Senator Whitley’s Byron and says he doesn’t think he’d be the best person on this case because he has a conflict of interest. Senator assumes that it’s his friendship with Prez Ghost and Jake doesn’t correct him. He was CLEARLY talmbout Liv, and Iunno why he thinks he could just be out when he wants. He knows he’s in the gubment version of the Crips.

Love Denied – The floor jail opens and dude asks “DO YOU HAVE A WIFE AND FAMILY?” to a grizzly bear named Huck and he says “Yes” weakly. As the door goes to shut, he says “no” and it opens back up. FREEDOM. He shaves his beard, gets a haircut and was back in the office where his life changed, congratulated for being back in the game. He’s given an assignment, and he isn’t able to kill the person. He paused too long and Charlie shows up and says he’s failed his test. Charlie tells him his family is ok but he should not look for them. Huck runs!

Suit dude, who blackmailed Huck to join these Ops walks in an office and tells someone that Huck didn’t work out afterall. That someone is Senator Whitley’s Byron. So he’s the head of this operation??? CHILE WHAT?!?!

You Saved Me – Liv walks into the gladiator office looking tired, and clearly coming straight from the hospital. Although it looked like she ran a flat iron through it cuz her hair was more LAIDT than it should be after a concussion. She takes off her coat and walks straight into the room where Huck was still rocking bagginfoaf, saying 752. She closes the door behind her as the other gladiators look through the glass.

Liv tells Huck that five years before, when she saw him sitting on the floor of that subway, what made her stop was his eyes. “You had the saddest eyes. They were sadder than mine.” And although he tells her that she saved him it was him who saved HER. Because they are both alone in this world and all they have is each other. She asks him to pull himself out of whatever has this grip on him, and touches his arm, which immediately calmed him.

Liv Huck Scandal Liv Huck ScandAL 2

He finally stop chanting, looks at her and says he thinks he used to have a family but he can’t remember if they’re real. She says if he thinks they’re real, then they are. And my allergies promptly started acting up and I got a couple of sniffs. No bigs. (-___-)

752 – Someone puts money in Huck’s cup as he sits at the subway station, looking lost. He turns around and whoever it is has gotten on the train. Then, a little boy and his mother get off the train, and he notices them. They look familiar to him and it’s Kim and a boy who has to be LITTLE HUCK!!! He asks his mom for money to give him, and he runs over, puts the money in his cup and smiles at him. He runs back to his mom and Huck watches them go up the stairs. He looks at the time and it’s 7:52am.

Huck family Scandal Huck Family Scandal 2

WHOOOOO!!! My eyes musta went running in place because they started SWEATING. HERE LIES LUVVIE’S FEELINGS!!! Lemme stop lying and just admit that I cried. CRIED! Real. Tears.

I was/am trapped in a glass case of emotions the moment I saw Little Huck! Outchea looking like Elian Gonzalez (‘memba him?)! My feelings were/are in shambles. Like seriously. I feel like crying every time I see that GIF or think about it. This episode broke my heart into little pieces and I had to find a broom. I was so sad for Huck!

Crying Brain gif

I have 752 questions, I need 752 kleenex and I’m going through 752 emotions right now.

I got questions!

Senator Whitley’s Byron. Is he still running that top secret gubment agency OR is he a scorned ex-employee?

Charlie doesn’t know Jake as a peer so who is Jake REALLY working for? And even if Charlie is retired, wouldn’t he still know Jake if they were in that SAME circle?

Also, am I the only one who thinks Charlie saved Huck’s family and basically helped them disappear? I really believe this. And Huck knows that, in the back of his mind. Their ‘lationship is so deep which is why neither of them seems to REALLY wanna kill the other. They’ve had chances.

Yeah. This was my longest recap YET. And I think it’s because this is one of the best Scandal episodes ever. Guillermo Diaz DEED THAT! What questions do you have and what do you think Jake is about?

Girlah………….I feel like Shonda is just a bitch for always leaving us in Shambles…like really. Poor Huck…they broke his a** big time and I wonder where is family is now. This episode explained a lot about him down to those watches he used to collect when that guy took one and he found him later on. This guy plays the crap out of Huck and he better win himself an award or something next year when awards season comes up.

How come Charlie left Huck alive and told his superiors that Huck was terminated. Charlie trained Huck. He knew Huck was still alive when he left him in the box at the storage facility. Could Charlie be on Liv’s side after all? Are they bringing Huck’s family back on the show in future episodes for more plots and twists. Pleaseeee let Jake stay on the show. He is too FINE to be killed off of the show!

Guillermo Diaz is a beast! That man can say so much with his eyes than most actors can say with a book of dialogue! he is that good of an actor. I was all curled up in the fetal position crying and snoting when Big Huck saw little huck. I absolutely stan for this man! This was the same dude in Half Baked. Talk about range!

    April 26, 2013 at 7:49 am

I still have not processed all that went down last night. So many emotions and not enough kleenex in the world. Glad Liv and Pres. Ghost got their issues out in the open, now if we can just get her to stop running away everytime things get real then maybe they can truly get somewhere.

The whole Huck backstory was just devistatingly sad. I couldn’t imagine ever having to go through that and still being able to function at any capacity. I hope this isn’t the last we see of his family.

All the monologues the gladiators had and all the feelings being poured out has also gotten me in a glass case of emotion. I just can’t with this show!

    April 26, 2013 at 8:13 am

Luvvie, that gif from Community, explains how I felt for the WHOLE ENTIRE episode. I got home lath with my sis, sitting down with apple juice(wine) and popcorn, all she could keep “you”ll never guess”, and gurl I couldn’t.

Shonda and her team, really know how to make you curl up with a blanckie and rock back and forth, cause that is what I was doing. Huck has been BROOOKEN three times, 1st in their “hot box” “the same torture device used on slaves i.e. Kerry Washington in D’Jano)no wonder they have such a close connection), 2nd the whole water boarding foolishness, and 3rd, being put in the trunk (though I hate to admit it possibly Jake) This man cannot, take anymore.
Now that Jake seems to be dong the whole double cross thing (at least where it come to Olivia), against his will, I think the game has really begun.
And I am HERE for Mellie, yes she is just as shady and manipulative as everyone but Huck and the rest of the Gladiators, but the woman is tired and fed up of always being made to look like the bad person and the most horrible wife. Enough is Enoug. She has her pride and America’s own Baby. Fitz has to make his choice America or Liv. Hal is like ‘my soul aint going to hell for the rest of you fools, I’m telling.

    • April 26, 2013 at 2:15 pm

They keep messing w/ my main man, Huck! And after learning his story, it makes me even sadder. Seeing Normal Huck was like AAAWWWWWW!!! And then he got darker and darker and his joy was taken away.

      Meanwhile, Hal gotta die!

I am so disheveled this morning, this episode left me confused and broken hearted….Who side is Jake on is Cy really the mold..PO Huck now I know Y he watches families cuz he can’t watch his own…So if Byron is the boss of operationa that deals wit enemies of the state is Jake a part of the team has Charlie gone rogue…N is Cy albatross…Oh my heart is broken trying to figure it out…So lost in my feelings…

    • April 26, 2013 at 2:14 pm

Right! It all makes sense why he watches families. Because he probably imagines that every family could be the one he lost. And has Charlie gon rogue? IDK. B/c if the Ops folks wanted him dead, he prolly wouldn’t be in DC still.

      • Leah
        April 28, 2013 at 10:23 am

Speaking of still being in DC, if, 15ish years before, my husband pulled a box of guns out of my piano, said we had to move, then disappeared while on his way to the bank, i would probably move away from the city and not be riding the metro years later.

          May 2, 2013 at 11:42 am

I think she saw it as a ploy to desert his family. She had daddy issues from before. I think she felt more abandoned than scared

Love Love Love your recaps!!! When you said Lil’ Huck was looking like Elian Gonzalez I hurt myself laughing. Poor Lil’ Elian. Anyway, I want to know why Harrison didn’t scoop them dang flowers up and ask Lemony to run some prints on the cellophane. I mean, yeah, Charlie might be under the radar but it’s worth a shot.

Can you imagine G. Diaz getting the script for this episode like “Half my lines are 752….I’m good this week!” He did his thing!! I can neither confirm nor deny that I had a little eye sweat, but I held it together for the most part.

One thing that bothered me is that I *still* don’t think Fitz gets how much he hurt Liv. He is still swirling in a world of ME & I. That hospital scene when they are all cry-kissing Liv blatantly says “You hurt me”. He needs to deal with that. And does Mellie know that Fitz gives ZERO dambs? He could skip off into the sunset with Liv and write a bestselling presidential memoir (especially if he was impeached for improper conduct) and be set! Because honestly, I don’t think he cares about being Prez anymore. I know I don’t. I’d still watch the show if he was impeached.

My main question is: What happened earlier in Liv’s life that makes her so lonely? We need a flashback episode for her!

I believe I can answer why Liv is so crazy, but you have to be crazy like me to re-watch the episodes again and again. Lemme put the dots together. Pay close attention: Remember when Fitz was on the Campaign trail and Melody lied about having a miscarriage. Liv went to sit with Fitz to give her condolences. Fitz talked for the first time how he made a mistake for not being with Liv instead of Mellie. Flash forward to the Scandal episode where Fitz has a talk to Mellie about their marriage being arranged because Mellie was “Blue Blood” and his father did not like any of the women he dated. I caught a hint that his father would not approve of him dating a black woman altogether. Now let’s review the latest episode. Liv screams at Fitz that she doesn’t believe him anymore when he tells her that he loves her. Now let’s go back to the first episodes of Scandal. Oh! I forgot something. Mellie and Liv both attended law school as did Fitz. Un huh! (said in Wendy Williams voice). I believe that Fitz and Liv dated and were in love before Fitz met Mellie. Fitz and Mellie’s fathers arranged their marriage. Fitz said that Liv was on the swimming team in High School. Another Wendy Williams Un huh! I have been playing detective on this show. Huck will recover because he will be instrumental in saving Liv from the guy in the baseball cap. Jake is a wild card. Cyrus is going to inform Fitz about Liv and Jake. After that Mellie will drop her threat because she and Cyrus think they finally have something to make Fitz move on from Liv. Jake and Fitz is about to throw down behind Liv. We know how jealous and obsessive Fitz is about Liv. Jake’s interest in Liv has grown and he will go rogue on the government to protect Liv or get killed doing it. I do believe Jake and Liv will continue to see each other although through a strained and maybe romantic relationship. Yep! I am hooked on this show. Oh! And another thing! Whose grown children were Jake referring to when he was updating the President on his life in this last episode. Is Jake married too? Excuse the grammar and mis-spelled words. I am obsessed with this show. lOL!

        • April 28, 2013 at 7:48 pm

NOPE! Fitz and Liv met when he started his campaign for President. Remember the scene where she asked him a question while he was on the trail and she had to introduce herself? Mmhmm. So nay, I gotta kill your theory.

          April 28, 2013 at 10:26 pm

Well you see that is what was portrayed at the beginning and I remember that scene very well. I have a bad habit of watching these episodes again and again. He never said he did not know her when she was hired by Cyrus to run his campaign. If you hear them talk on that campaign bus and hold hands you realize it didn’t just start right there. He talked about regret for nothing being with her in the first place. That’s why he did not want to hire her to run his campaign when she criticized how he and his wife interacted with each other. He told Cyrus to fire her. It was personal. Tell you what? Go back and review the two scenes I just told you about.

I’ve thought that myself… That they knew each other previously… In the campaign epi…. He stopped and stared in a very reminiscent way before he asked who she was… Besides it is better politically to say they met on the campaign trail than to dredge up an old gf, so right on Chica.

    • April 26, 2013 at 1:55 pm

That was lil Elian Huck. Can’t nobody tell me different! And Harrison scooping up the flowers isn’t a bad idea. Hmmm…

Fitz is always ME ME ME. He got mad at Liv about Defiance because his ego was hurt that he didn’t win the presidency by his own doing, instead of thinking about what might have led her to join forces with the League of Goons to make it happen. He gotta get his life.

And yes! I wonder too what happened in Liv’s life that made her all alone. Where is her family? How did she become this lone ranger? I cannot wait to find out. Maybe season 2 will show us more of her background.

That CHARLIE got infinitely more complex last night blew me away.

    • April 26, 2013 at 1:57 pm

YES! Every time you wanna hate one character and wish that they have permanent wedgies, there’s a wrench thrown in that shows their humanity and shows us that all villains aren’t pure evil. Charlie showed that a couple of times in this ep.

*raises hand & waits to be called on* Umm can we discuss why Charlie eats so much sugar? How does he not have the dieabeetus? He poured half a container of sugar on cereal, had a lollipop when Huck met him and was eating a huge iced donut when Cyrus called him. He gots issues. And I just want to know why.

Furthermore I want there to be more than 3 assassins for folks in DC to calll on cuz this triangle of secret assassin-som has got to stop. My heart can no longer take.

This episode had me ALL over the map! First of all…your eyes must have been running in place cause they started sweating!?! HI-larious!

That relationship between Huck and Charlie is way too deep for me. I was wondering what was going on with all those close encounters…

Once he put the first watch in the box I also thought that 752 was the number of people Huck hacked, but my soul was a little releived when that was squashed. When it was revealed that that was the exact time that he last saw his son I cried real tears…like had to get up and get some tissue tears. I know Huck is a trained killer, but his character was developed in a way that makes me think he is a good person with a good heart. I so want him to be happy and find peace.

As far as this Liv/ President Ghost/ Jake the Snake love triangle. I CAN’T. The high school passion that plays out between Liv and Pres. every week kills me. Either be together or don’t. Melli’s azz is clearly going to make a show about it either way it goes so just make a move either way and be done with it! The fact that the President has Jake spying on the woman that they both want is crazy to me. And Luvvie you’re right…who the Hell is Jake anyway?? Why doesn’t Charlie recognize him?

    • Msoand
      April 26, 2013 at 11:42 am

I believe Jake is the old Charlie. Since Charlie went rogue/or independent their paths would not cross…. (my guess).

      • April 26, 2013 at 3:56 pm

Jake is Naval intelligence so its highly possible that they do not know each other. Charlie and Huck were a part of an off the books organisation as knocking off US citizens could never be sanctioned by the US Government publicly.
I thought 752 was the number of kills Huck had or the number of the train but never thought of the time at all.
Great recap Luvvie. Hope your “allergies” have cleared up.

Well, Ms. Luvvie, you have done it again another stellar recap! I was in tears last night, especially when Huck says, I think I used to have a family…I can’t with this show anymore. It was riveting from the first scene to the last! Those gifs are priceless!!! Thank you for the Twitter posts last night too. This was the first time I ever watched it live! Last night’s episode was really heartbreaking and if Kerry or Guillermo do not at the very least receive Emmy nom’s tables are gonna Shake. Like I said on FB this episode had me crying ugly Fantasia tears an I’m not afraid to admit it.

When Charlie had the baby in his arms I was like he gonna kill them. I don’t trust Charlie I appreciate him letting Huck Go but he gotta die I am not here for Dexter 2.5.

I just Huck to have a good day in my Ice Cube voice I mean how much can even the realest of G’s take. I know I was walking around singing I just want to be okay be okay after last night cause clearly I have issues lol.

Mellie will do Mellie at the end of the day and I still think Fitzy got lots more splaining to do before he is out of the dog house and I think Charlie is also on Hiding that’s why he doesn’t know Jake and Jake doesn’t know him.

Sorry for the length but this episode left me unable to deal great Recap Luvvie and that Will GIF Lmao

This episode….Lawd!! How do they do it every time?! I had so many ideas about what 752 meant (all were wrong of course) but when the camera panned up to the clock reading 7:52am my vision was so blurry from the tears! I really hope Huck finds his family. I’m thinking Mellie is bluffing about running to the press, she knows what needs to be done to get her way…I really wish somebody would shank her ass (yes with an old prison shank) she makes my ass itch!

I am all in my feelings over last night!!! I was rolling around on the flo and rocking the corner with Huck…. I was shattered…. It was too much information to process.. I was more jumpy than a whore at a prison rodeo!! First of all HUCK had a family and they a just took them from him and when he saw his little boy in the train station I cried harder than a lil bit…. and Olivia and Fitz just need to get it togther talk and either be together or don’t but hell do sumthin.. I can’t with these two anymore the hot jungle fever sex is life but its too much pressure for me to take…. Oh if Cy is the mole I am turning inside out… I still don’t truss Jake and… Some one needs to come for bitch-ass snitch-ass Hal and Mellie well she is a mean self-serving hoebag!! Shouts to Luvvie for this awesome recap and to the whole cast of Scandal for making my life a lil more scandalous!! Only three more episodes left how will we gladiators survive!! Oh and I can’t wait to see my dude Harrison’s background!! Ok I am done rambling.

    • Onimu
      April 26, 2013 at 2:53 pm

If Cy is Albatross, he will be taken out eventually. Does anyone detect a pattern here?
The DC5 are being written out one at a time. Fitz killed Verna, if Cy is the mole, he will be taken care of which leaves Hollis, Mellie and Liv.
I think Fitz will divorce Mellie even if he never gets to be with Liv. He will do it for his own personal happiness and because he has had enough of living a fake life.
Hollis could hit a tree tomorrow so no biggie but Liv I’m not sure how that will play out. She may get a presidential pardon and ride off into the sunset with another man.

Mellie is such a douchebag. She should have left ages ago and never brought an innocent child into the world to snare a man. She made herself into a mat and her threats really don’t mean much as all she wants is to control and use anyone around her.
Why did she fake Fitz’s signature when he was in a coma? That alone will sink her if it ever got out. Liv said it best – Let Mellie be. She is her own worst enemy when it comes to Fitz. After 20 odd years, she does not know that Fitz hates to be pushed on anything? And she keeps doing it.
I don’t support adultery but no amount of fame and fortune will EVER make me stay with a man that clearly does not want me and that I did not want until competition came along.
I feel in the season finale, she will do something stupid like trying to commit suicide or something just to make Fitz stay with her. Hope she succeeds.

Fitz does not need reading as he and Liv are just 2 fools in love. I still blame Liv for it all as she was the one who took the step to walk into his hotel room, knowing he was married with kids, after he told her to go into her room. Everything she did from then on has been against her better judgement – all in the name of love.

Why is she so angry that Fitz left her all alone? She did it to him twice with no explanation and Fitz does it once with no explanation and she goes mental? Please take a row of stadium seats. Either be in or out – no sitting on the fence because it causes confusion and messes up everyone else in the setup. If Liv had walked away permanently the first time, Fitz would have made do with Mellie and innocent Teddy might be a bargaining chip.
There would be loads of Amanda Tanner’s but Mellie will be ok with that as they will not be a threat to her standing as FLOTUS.

Let’s wait and see what the last 3 eps have in store before I vent completely.

Hal-the-snitch should be offed. How can he be secret service working for the POTUS with a leaky mouth? He’s worse than a woman chatting to her friends – sorry girls, I know we talk a lot sometimes. BRING TOM BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I know is it took me about 10 minutes to stop crying after the show. Huck is my friend in my head yall, and this episode totally murked my thug. I tweeted Luvvie at the beginning of the show that I had a feeling that this was going to happen! Who do I need to talk to about Scandal becoming a movie because I can’t take these weekly bouts of hypertension! If it was a movie, after 2 hours, we’d all be better instead of wall slidin each week, recovering in a few days, only to have it happen all over again!

This explains why Huck seeks out those families and why he was so hurt when Becky killed “his family” and the dog. It all makes sense now. I usually watch these episodes at least three times—it’s going to be difficult to do. And yes Luvvie, Little Huck does look like Elian Gonzalez.

    1. Poor Huck…
    2. Charlie, Huck and the rest of the assassins retired and the program was shut down. Apparently, Jake is in Assassins 2.0. Same ringleader, different players.
    3. Senator Byron told Jake to use Liv to get to Albatross, because Albatross is after Liv and they want Albatross.
    4. Know who else is after Liv? Cyrus and his goon Charlie.
    5. Liv called Cy one or two episodes back to tell him the other guy wasn’t the mole. Cy refused to look into it. Because Cy is Albatross and as long as everyone thinks that Albatross is dead, the heat is off of him. Whoever is making noise about Albatross still being alive has to go. We all know Cy is a true goon and does not give two snaps.
    6. Charlie went to Liv’s apartment to take her out last episode, but she wasn’t there. When he got to the hospital, he called Cy to say they had a problem. Then in this episode, he called Cy from Liv’s hospital wing to say there was no way he could get to her with all the secret service around.
    7. Cy came to the hospital to convince the President to leave, which would take the secret service with him and let Charlie do his thing. Didn’t work, but he is definitely Albatross and definitely trying to take Liv out.
    8. Poor Huck.
    9. I am not here for Mellie. She is making that same tired threat to get him to “choose family.” Girl, go get a life AND a new man.
    10. Back to work.

Now that Huck snapped out of it, anyone tryin to get at Liv, will have to kill him and we now know, Charlie ain’t going to kill his boy Huck!

YASSSS! I am on this train. I was scrolling through the comments waiting for someone to understand that Jake is doing the same thing that Huck & Charlie were–no paths crossed because they were gone before he started.

I just want to know if the program was just shut down or if Charlie got fired because they found out he lied about eliminating Huck.
Oh and I’d like to know if he’s an addict now that someone pointed out that sugar thing.

    • April 28, 2013 at 7:53 pm

EXCEPT! The guy in Liv’s apartment wasn’t Charlie. IT WAS JAKE. Lemme show you proof: https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/734027_10102393657787420_1089796251_n.jpg. Side Note-Charlie is the devil and I literally REBUKED him in the Name of the LAWD when he was holding Lil Huck, but I am glad that he let them go in the end.

I think Cyrus is Albatross! He seems to be in every bit if mess in some way or another and uses Charlie to do the dirty work. Charlie and Huck are basically assassin BFFs but Huck and Quinn were getting to close to “Albatross” so Charlie had to shut Huck down by putting him in a box which he knew would eff Huck up and remind him of his past life this making him forget about Albatross for now. And remember in a previous episode when Liv told Cyrus that dude they killed wasn’t the mole, Cyrus just blew it off. If there really was still a mole wouldn’t Cyrus want to find out and tell Fitz?!? But he didn’t cuz it’s him!! At first Im like naw Cy wouldnt want the prez dead but Cy was bout to kill his own boo so he is cold blooded. That’s my theory.

Um can we talk about how we still don’t know Huck’s real name??? I was looking for it on his uniform during the flashback but it just ‘US Marines’. And I think Charlie gave him a nickname right away.
Shonda & Associates are really tryna keep his name a secret…

But yeah this episode slayed me, gave me life, then slayed me again! I am unable!

      April 26, 2013 at 4:19 pm

I was just waiting for Kim to say his name! Dangnabbit!

I’m usually unable to sleep after a Scandal episode, cuz I’m up pacing (sometimes literally), trying to figure out WHT just went down and WTH it all means and cursing Shonda and the writing team. Last night, I cried a little, screamed, yelled at the screen, chased Olitz’s scenes away cuz I really don’t care for their dysfunction to begin with, but certainly not last night when our Huck was travailing. I was so tense after Charlie showed up at his house in the flashback because I was so sure they were gonna off his family. I started bawling at the thought of that and bawled some more when I realised his wife and kid were safe.

Guillermo Diaz gave his everything in this episode and if he doesn’t win something for it come awards season 2014, I’ll help shake tables and break glasses too. And I am DYING to find out about Harrison. DYING. What could it possibly be about him that has made Shonda give us virtually NOTHING? Must be monumental. I think a lot of us are gonna wallslide so hard we fall through our floors when that ish is revealed. I cannot wait!!!

I know she couldn’t have gone straight from the hospital to the office, because she had a SICKENING coat on when she got to OPA, and she was wearing Jake’s shirt when she got to the hospital. Men wouldn’t have known how to put together the fierceness going through Liv’s house without some help.

    officially …

I’m scared shytless of Senator Byron after yesterday.

Before yesterday, he was just some shadowy dude..

now we know…he’s been doing this shadowy stuff for at least a decade…which should scare you. He TOTALLY knows what he’s doing.

I didn’t expect it. And, I don’t know what he’s gonna do to Huck when he figures out Huck is Huck.

  43. April 26, 2013 at 7:15 pm

7:52: Not just the last time he saw his family, but the time the train would come everyday. He had the times in his head and recited them to Olivia when she walked up to him. I didnt quite get this at first….
Did he just sit there day after day? Did his wife never ever recognize him? What if lil Huck did that every day….
Interesting how we are drawn to our kin in some way.

    Would Cy really kill Liv?
    Would Fitz off Mellie?

Someone will probably get killed off by season’s end!

    • MissHuntley
      April 26, 2013 at 7:30 pm

That’s so true!! 7:52 was the time the train left that day. The same day he met Olivia and the time he saw lil huck!!!

What if Charlie was supposed to kill Cy? How else would they have met? I think Charlie went rogue and teamed up with Cy (aka Albatross)

      hmmmmmm…..

    Great post Luvvie!!

This episode had me all types of messed up last night. Olivia and Fitz in the hospital room, the Huck flashbacks, and Olivia talking to Huck…Shonda Rhimes ruined me once again. Huck’s backstory was heartbreaking. I had it all wrong about who Jasika Nicole was going to be but I was glad to see her on something else since Fringe. Hopefully in the next season, Shonda will bring her back. It seems that what broke Huck was losing his family, not the terrible things he did or what’s been done to him. His wife never noticed that the homeless guy was Huck because like most people do to homeless people she ignored him, but her son didn’t. I also think Huck’s real name is the same name as his son.

Also, Hal’s a snitch so he has to go and Mellie needs to calm herself, have a seat, and find a hobby. She doesn’t love Fitz, she just wants to run him and she’s mad that she can’t.

You better upgrade your server cuz you’re about to get 752+ comments! That scene at the end ENDED me….slayed, butchered, HUCKED me. Perfect scene was perfect. All the awards to Shonda, Guillermo, and whoever directed this episode. I love that Charlie looked out for Huck’s family. An assassin with a moral code: don’t hurt civilians. He kinda reminds me of Omar from the Wire in that respect.

What if, just what if Jake and Charlie do know each other but are only sharing just enough info to get to their target, albatross? Senator Byron needed someone on the inside. That’s Jake. Albatross is an enemy of the state by putting folks in danger.

I am so done and through with Prez Ghost. Liv is not a yo-yo to satisfy his whims. He has some real pretty words but he needs to get his house (white house) in order first. We will see just how many dambs he gives when Mellie puts him against a wall, she and her no secret keeping secret service guy.

    I can’t and won’t talk about Huck’s story. It’s still too raw.

I will say this: Ghostie and Liv’s ‘lationship reminds me of the ups and downs Meredith and Derek went through on Greys Anatomy. Sometimes the only way to free someone is for another on the show to die. Mellie? Possible. Jake? Possible, he’s working too many angles. Cyrus? I really hope not but if he happened to be albatross…? The new guy in David’s (lemony snicket) old job? Who would have thunkit but again possible to keep David down, out and looking crazy?

    So many possibilities

Honey Chile boo!!! I got two things to sat to my fellow Scandal addicts. If we all caught up in Huck’s back story, imagine how we finta be when Olivia’s tumultuous past hits. Folk already got a FB page tryna get my cougar baby mama (Angela Basset” to play Olivia’s mama! **faints** **rolls around** **COGIC shout**. And secondly, I don’t think even Shonda was prepared for the world to swing from the nads of Huck like this. This was written for Olivia, and Huck done just come and took all our lil oxygen!!! #Aijuswannasay that I was in my feelings all Thursday night, all into the day Friday. Like…Shonda…why?! Why for? Fawut? How you play my man Huck like that? Harrison’s monologue had me ready for love. I didn’t even have time to give a damb about Liv & Prez Ghost. I needed to find out why Huck was so messed up. And what I wanna go and learn that for? I did a wall slide and wallowed in my fist full of tears.

Mellie, there’s no future in your frontin. Either you’re in or you’re out. Get into it damnit.

I can’t trust Cy anymore. He has nothing to lose at this point. He’s willing to off errbody.

Jake tried it. He failed, but he tried it. How’s he gonna paneuver this conflict of interest? Cuz Byron ain’t here for it.

And Charlie may have a heart after all.

I don’t have the energy to make assumptions about what everything means. 752: the number of times Shonda murks my soul and proves me wrong. What is air?!

Ohhhhh Luvvie — It’s me from the B-Class! I’m watching the Big S and as I’m stunned into Huck Silence I’m also thinking….wonder what Luvvie’s gonna say ’bout all this mess! Dam bursts about Huck. Tore my heart out even the next day thinking about it. Thinking Shonda — oh SH**! Now what? Also thought 752 was about all the killings including the ones overseas. Did not see that coming at all or the watch connection — to always remember the time before the time now! Charlie and Huck and all of those others got together that one time and made some agreements — remember that? Cyrus hired Charlie to snuff out Liv because he’s tired of being #2 everywhere in his life, PG hired Jake to watch Liv because he’s tired of Ms Malevolent who seems to be turning soft liking her kid and all, Byron also hired Jake to snuff — not snatch Liv — because she keeps singing “I Got The Power” (Snap Snap Snap)and I think Liv might still love love love PG but what she had going on with Jake was definitely X-rated! Humph! And it appears “That’s the Way, uh huh uh huh she liked it uh huh uh huh” since PG could never spend the night. I think Jake is here to stay. Huck looked good normal. Mmm Mmm Mmm! Cannot believe how good this storyline is — how does SR get these ideas?!? I’m a wee bit jealous. Is Byron old enough to be Liv’s Daddy? Whitley sure seems too old for her……And how stupid is the CIA that they haven’t figured out that PG is not the real POTUS? It’s gonna go back to Daddy Warbucks somehow…..

Nicole I am glad someone agrees with me about Fitz, Olivia is up in the hospital with a concussion, after being “attacked” by man some random dude, and ALL Fitz can talk bout as usual is how hurt and betrayed he feels. He is probably one of the most self centered characters on tv. Yes he “loves” Olivia (loves used loosely here),but his type of love is damaging, her feelings never seem to matter. He wants the cake, and the container it comes in.

One thing Sen. Puddin Pop got right is that love is not to be painful and devastating, yes pain can come with it , but not constantly, Liv always leaves Fitz feeling used and abused, not loved and cherished. She needs to heal and take time for herself.

Someone needs to get Huck a dog so he can start heeling because that man, talk about ish, he has been through and around it.

What do you all think about this….

Fitz is not scared of Mellie because he knows Teddy is not his child. Pres has to take a full physical every year….maybe he found out he is sterile and kept this info to himself.

So, he’s calling Mellie’s bluff because he can shut her down with this little known fact.

He gets to run for Re-election and keep Mellie in her place at the same time.

*im just trying to think outside the box*

  57. TallGrrl
    April 28, 2013 at 7:35 pm

Actually, Teddy is Fitz’s child. Shonda said so.
Seeing as how Fitz doesn’t even want to *talk* to Mellie, let alone shag her, I’m thinking that Teddy is a Turkey Baster Child.
If Fitz asks Cy, Mellie could either be silenced by having an “accident” or with a threat, because Mellie was in on the Vote Fixing.
Mellie might move out…but I don’t think she’s gonna sing.
Huck’s son is a wonderful, compassionate child.
He’s obviously seen the Homeless Man sitting there at the same spot long enough to recognize him. He says to his Mom, “I want to give the man a dollar.” and “He looks hungry.”
When he puts the dollar in the cup, and Huck looks up at him with those eyes. His eyes were what killed me.
Huck’s eyes are always shaded. He looks down a lot. Like, tho’ he knows a million ways to kill a person, he’s protecting himself.
But when he looked up at his son and his eyes were open and taking the child in, they were filled with all of the Love and Tenderness that his “job” with Charlie took away from him.
In an earlier episode, he said that they “took things away” from him.
I’m puddling up just thinking ’bout this episode.
I think I’ll go watch it again.

  58. April 28, 2013 at 8:19 pm

I am so glad someone else recognized Senator Byron Douglass. I was scared when Huck’s girlfriend got preggers and they got married cause Shonda is known to kill folk and I just couldn’t take it if Huck’s family got killed. So I was proud of Shonda for considering our hearts but my question is why were Liv’s eyes so sad 5 years ago. She hadn’t started working for Fitz yet right? And is anyone else wondering who Teddy’s dad is? I just don’t think that Fitz’s baby. And I can’t STAND Mellie but I shole appreciate her gangstaness.

    • April 28, 2013 at 8:21 pm

America’s baby is Fitz’s. I don’t think it’s up for debate any longer since word on the skreet is that Shonda confirmed it.

Ok, I didn’t know SR confirmed it. I guess I need to read more interviews. Lol

I’m new to Scandal, just started watching a few days ago (thanks, Netflix), but after this episode I have to take a break. My head hurts from crying so much. I love Huck. He’s been my favorite since episode one. I loved all of the theories on what 752 meant. From the beginning, my theory was that it was the number of people he killed. Him sitting in that corner BROKE me. Hell, I found MYSELF doing the Sofia rock. This was an award-winning episode IMO.

Oh…and thank you for reminding me who Senator Whitley’s Byron was. I knew I remembered that mole from somewhere. I ain’t like him then. That’s why Dwayne stole his woman.

  63. […] Huck’s Grief – Olivia opens her apartment door and finds Huck standing in her hallway looking all pitiful. He says Quinn found his family and she tells him to go back and speak to his wife and son. Huck says “It’s good for me to be dead. They have a good life now. No one is lying to them. No one is torturing people all day and then coming home and pretending to be normal. No one is hunting them trying to get at me. They are safe. It’s better for them…. Leaving them behind. That was the best thing that’s ever happened to them.” He crumbles in Olivia’s lap and I get 752 fever. […]
