Any Questions? I Have Many After Scandal’s Episode 221!

After last week’s episode of Scandal left us all feeling all hot and bothered, I knew Shonda was gon turn the tables and just leave our jaws on the floor for a completely different reason. The show team had told us that this episode is where we find out who the mole so we were dehydrated for it! Let’s just jump right in.

WhoIsTheMole Scandal

Private Matter – Cyrus holds a press conference at the White House to comment that the First Lady’s comments are a private matter. As the media presses him for more info, he tells them repeatedly that it isn’t for public consumption.

Jesus Saves, Cyrus Yells – Cyrus is at Olivia’s door and wants in but Tom (welcome back) and another secret service agent will not let him in. He tells them he doesn’t care if Jesus Himself gave them the instructions. “Jesus forgives. Jesus saves. I destroy and I will bring vengeance down upon you in a hail of fire and brimstone.” WELL DAMB! Tom tells him he’ll need a reason to open up that door. Cy musta found a REALLY good reason because as President Ghost and Olivia frolick in bed, he storms in and yells “GET UP!”

Liv Fitz Caught

Oop.

Cheating Chatter – In the OPA office, they’re watching Cyrus’ press conference and David calls the President a cheater for stealing the election and stepping out on his wife. He admits to being a gladiator and says that whoever Fitz is cheating with better have Olivia on her team when they release her name. The other Gladiators look at each other and say nothing.

Stand Down – Liv and Fitz are getting dressed and she tells him she’ll get some intel on what’s happening now that Mellie dropped that bomb. He tells her not to do anything because this is not for her to fix. It’s his mess and it was his turn to handle it. “You have to stand down.” I notice that she’s rocking a navy blue top with tan pants. It’s the first time she’s been in a dark color in present day (instead of a flashback). Interesting…

When they leave, Fitz takes his “I hit it first and many other times” smirk with him as Cyrus looks like a helpless child.

tumblr_mmkdy7iP5z1s54iyyo1_400

Cytron Comeback – Olivia gets to the Gladiator office and they tell her that Tammy, Charlie’s date, was a stenographer in the Cytron explosion case. He wanted to find out about Defiance, which is why he wanted to get close to her. Liv runs into the next room and they follow. She goes into a safe in her office and pulls out the card from the rigged machine. David smugly looks at Abby, who finally admits that she did steal it from him.

Mellie’s Fixer – Mellie has hired Molivia (Male Olivia) Nope because she needs her own situation fixed. He tells her he can help if and only if she’s perfectly honest with him. And then he reads her whole MO back to her, as if she was a Dr. Seuss book. When he asks her why she didn’t name the woman her husband was sleeping with, she is speechless.

2nd Term Decline – President Ghost tells Cyrus that he is going to make a statement declining a run for a 2nd term in office. That is the ONE thing that drives Cyrus: power. Him leaving the White House is his biggest fear right now so he tries to convince him otherwise. “We are not giving up your place in history.” Cyrus, get your life. Fitz don’t gibbadamb bout history. He wants Liv.

Failing Mission – Jake meets up with Senator Whitley’s Byron, who is not pleased with the fact that he failed to get between Liv and Fitz the night before. Jake tries to explain and is shut down with “Do not interrupt me. Ever.” OOP! He then asks him to give him physical proof of his ‘lationship with Liv, and he wants him to get Charlie. Uh oh!

Light’s on Sally – VP Sally tells a miffed Cyrus that she’s surprised that the First Lady will be the one to bring Fitz down after all he’s been through. Meanwhile at OPA, she’s the one they suspect is the mole. Liv tells them to fnd evidence.

Endgame – Harrison follows Liv into her office and asks her what her end game is with the situation with President Ghost. “You’re not a fixer here. You’re the problem. You’re MY client…I am here. And I will be your anchor.”

Harrison Anchor 1 Harrison Anchor 2

I love when he gets all tough. Hey boo. But Liv does NOT give him a thing. I guess she’s listening to Fitz’s instructions to stand down.

Tricked and Treated – James’ probing questions in the press conference pissed Cyrus OFF and they have a shouting match in his office. Cy tells him he should not have tried to bring him down but James insists that he was just doing his job. He already let the Defiance story go. Beene cackles in his face and says “I’m starting to think you’re just plain stupid.” He tells him Mellie got him the job so he could be a pawn in her game, snatching James’ moment of glory. Ouch, Cy.

Mean Girl Hacking – The gladiators want to get access into the White House’s network to see bout Sally, so huck comes up with the idea of hacking into her teenage daughter’s email and sending her a virus which would springboard them into it. David helps them figure it out and the girl falls for it, opens the email and BOOM! They have access.

Convincing Ghost – Cyrus thinks Olivia convinced Fitz not to pursue a 2nd term. No. Her Love Pocket did. He tells her “Don’t let him do this” and she says “We’ve already changed the future of this country once. Isn’t that enough?” Liv leaves and Senator Whitley’s Byron shows up, smooth as a gooning ghost. EEK!

No Boundaries – Phantom Goon (Senator Whitley’s Byron) tells Cyrus he knows that Olivia is the First Mistress, shocking Beene. He says he has no boundaries and he wants him to use his powers to stop all the madness, instead of tryna maintain his bromance with President Ghost. “It’s simple. It’s only complex because you’re afraid.” Also, he tells Cy to quit Charlie.

Olitz Flirting – President Ghost calls Liv and says he’s writing his statement announcing that he isn’t gonna go for re-election. He is determined to do it and doesn’t accept Liv’s offer to help with the speech. Before they hang up, he asks her what she’s wearing.

Wearing Scandal1 WearingScandal2

That charming dog! Owwww!

Jake’s Call – Officer Truman Show calls Liv and asks how long Fitz stayed. She doesn’t answer and he says “I’m not a bad guy, Olivia.” “You’re not a good one.” “Well neither is he.” He’s not lying.

Oh Na Na, but What’s Her Name? – Molivia Nope is tryna get the name of the President’s mistress from Mellie but she isn’t giving it up. She says she wants to see his speech before she lets that info go and he says he’ll call in a favor at the White House.

Donuts and Tracking – Charlie goes for his weekly donuts and sees a new person behind the register. She hands him his bag of goodies and he goes into the bathroom, and uses a black light to see that his hands and the bag are glowing. Tracking powder! When he leaves the donut shop, the cashier makes a call and says “he knows.” Jake looks down and sees a bunch of red dots on a map. Charlie had rubbed his hands on other folks so he the agent was now on multiple people. Smart man.

Not the Mole – The Gladiators realize that VP Sally is not the mole because U-G-L-Y, she DOES have an alibi and someone else uses her password to download info. Harrison is frustrated and kicks down a chair. Liv tells them all to take an hour break to clear their head and they leave David behind as he enjoys watching Cyrus lose his cool on TV.

Client Charlie – Charlie calls Cyrus and says they’re after him and Cy tells him he doesn’t know who he is. How quick they turn on ya. The gladiators get to their office and find Charlie there holding a gun to David’s head. Huck tells him drop the guns and he does it without any force. He says “I wanna hire you.”

Speech and Sigh – President Ghost has written his speech and he gives it to a tired Cyrus who reads it to the point where he says he won’t be running for a 2nd term. He stops there and sighs that it’s fine. Back at the Blair House, Molivia Nope hands the speech to Mellie. He says it was found in Fitz’s trash. He asks for the name of the mistress again and she says NO.

Molivia Nope Mellie1 Molivia Nope Mellie2

Molivia says:

“That’s why you won’t name his mistress… Because naming her will make him hate you. And in the back of your mind, you still think there’s a chance that he’ll come back to you…I can move mountains and work miracles. But I can’t make your husband love you.”

WELPY MCWELPINGTON OF WELPLAND!

Same Deal – Charlie says he can give them the name of the mole but he wants the same deal that Huck made that allowed him to leave B613 and still live a semi-functional life. But they don’t know anything about a deal. Huck says he will get a name from Charlie. “My world, my rules.”

WorldRules WorldRules2

No Signature – Cyrus finds out that Fitz’s papers for re-election were never filed and they’ve been sitting on his desk for months. He never signed them.

Folders In Case of Fail – Liv drops two folders on Harrison’s desk and tells him that the brown one has a list of everyone who owes them a favor. And the black one is sealed, and a last resort to use if things get messy. He says “like if your name comes out” and she tells him she can take care of herself. She echos Huck with “My world, my rules.” She also tells him to put the folders in the safe and the combo is inside. Just then, Cyrus shows up.

Tape and Threats – Jake is at home watching the tape of him and Liv getting it ON. He pops out the DVD slips it into an envelope and meets up with Phantom Goon to give it to him. Senator Whitley’s Byron tells him to stay close to Prez Ghost and Liv and when Jake tries to say he might not be up for it, he shuts him down so proper. That man got power and I need to know who else is working for him!

Job Well Done Undone – Charlie is strapped to a chair in a basement, with Huck circling him. He tells him to make sure it’s one clean shot, requesting how he wants to die. Talk about a goon who’s about that life (and death). He writes on a pad and hands it to Huck, who gets behind him and points a gun at his neck. Right then, Quinn shows up and asks if he got the name. He did, so she says his job is over. Killing Charlie will be extra. “You have to ask yourself if you’re a Gladiator or if you’re looking for revenge because you can’t have it both ways.”

Reconsider Re-election – President Ghost enters a bedroom in the WH and finds Liv standing there. She tells him she knows he never signed the re-election papers and he knew he wasn’t gonna run for a 2nd terms MONTHS before. Not cuz of Liv. He played Olivia like the world’s smallest violin? He didn’t “earn” her. He used her as an excuse. But she tells him she thinks he is quitting because of Defiance. “We stole that election. We stole your chance. Take it back. Run. Run and win.” Fitz walks out to the press conference and starts by telling the media that his marriage is none of their damb business.

Card Chaos – Back at the Gladiator office, Huck comes back with Quinn and says he has the name of albatross. Harrison comes out looking like someone stole his favorite gingham shirt and announces that the Cytron card is gone from the safe, to everyone’s shock.

Then Fitz announces that he WILL be seeking a 2nd term as president. And Cyrus looked like he could cry and Liv did too. But for completely different reasons.

Scandal Liv Cyrus

Meanwhile, Mellie and Molivia are watching the conference and she is pleased, not knowing it was NOT about her in the least bit.

Charlie? – David tells the Gladiators that he found Charlie in their conference room so he might have been there for a while. Abby says it’s fine because Charlie was taken out by Huck and Quinn says they let him go. But they do know who the mole is. AW HELL!

Liv’s phone rings and it’s Harrison, telling her it was all a set up and Charlie took the Cytron card. “Which means the mole has Defiance.” But they have a name. THE NAME.

Albatross Is – Billy Chambers. He’s in a car and someone enters and hands him the Cytron card. He says “Now we can start having some fun.” That someone is David “Lemony Snicket” Rosen.

Billy Chambers Scandal 1 Billy Chambers Scandal 2

And the President ends his press conference with “Any questions?” and all hands go up.

Then I lost ALL my mind. I seriously was unable to deal. My head wanted to explode. I was so unable to CAN that I got a bill from a CAN collection agency for my debt!

To know who Billy Chambers is, you have to have watched season 1. He was presumed dead, at the hands of Charlie. Billy was VP Sally’s chief of staff and Amanda Tanner’s (Fitz’ mistress who was killed) baby daddy. He also killed Quinn’s other boyfriend. Chile… just go watch season 1 on Netflix.

The fact that he is back and the mole. AND David is working with him??? *faints* What is life about?? What is air? Just when I was starting to like Lemony! He goes and does something like this! It was like everyone did this collectively:

surprised-patrick-meme-supernatural gif

Any questions though? Yes. Many. Here are some:

* Why was Olivia in the navy blue top?

I found the answer to this one from Lyn Paolo, Scandal’s costume designer. She said “We used darker tones in [Olivia’s] costume to reflect the dark undertones of her soon-to-be-made decisions. Olivia is torn, should Fitz give up everything for her, will it work, how can they be together without destroying his Presidency?”

There’s ONE question answered.

* When they showed up and found Charlie holding the gun to David’s head, was it planned between the two of them?

* Was the Cytron card that David had the real one or was it a decoy that Liv planted? IF it is a decoy, did she do it to test his loyalty? Also, why does that chip still exist? Why wasn’t it destroyed? I watched the episode twice and Liv looked freaked OUT when told that the chip is gone.

* Although Billy Chambers is the mole, is VP Sally still involved? Is he just her errand boy and she’s the mastermind?

* Who else is working for the Phantom Goon and what’s his connection to Cyrus?

Next week is the season finale. I’m afraid that I’ma need deliverance after that episode. They way Shonda and her team gon come for us is not gon be pretty. I wanna go lay my burdens down NOW to prepare. Just take to my bed to build up strength for what’s to come. So many thoughts!

Feelings gif

Gladiators, ROAR in the comments. Did this episode slay you? What are your thoughts? Chile…

Oh yeah! So I just decided that I wanna have a viewing party in Chicago for the season finale of Scandal next Thursday. I’m looking for a venue that would like to host me and like 10 of my friends to come watch the final episode of season 2. Preferably downtown. Anyone know of a good place? It’d be the best viewing pordee EVER. Email me at Luvvieblog at gmail dot com if you know a spot.

The reason that Cy gave Tom was “He’s having a heart attack. HE JUST TEXTED ME!!”
Honestly, I think Cyrus is gonna die from a heart attack soon. That man goes from 0-100 in 4.36 seconds!!
Also, how many worlds and how many different rules were there in this episode? Felt like I was traveling through the damn solar system!

    Great recap as usual Luvvie!

1 – Why am I just now figuring out code name “Senator whitley’s Byron”??? LOL everytime I see him, I think Terminator, tho, with him holding that explosive trigger!

2 – Molivia Nope. Perfect name. Cuz he sounded like he was just fishing for the name, not actually trying to help her. Olivia would have worked all kinds of magic without the name! lol

    Good morning,

    1. I am glad I watched Season 1. Definitely in the loop.

    2. POPUS convincing Fitz to run on a Second Term was golden for me. Defiance almost had Fitz in the psych ward.

I think in real life, when the team around the prez wants to commit clandestine acts, they usually, literally have the prez out of the room, because when the congressional hearings happen, the prez can literally play dumb & he will be telling the truth.

That is what Defiance reminds me of.

    4. This show has been a great ride for me, tears & all. it is NOT for people with pre-existing health problems.

I am shocked we have not heard of any reported deaths related to the Scandal Franchise. Maybe the Season Finale will help matters.

    Good day.

HAHHAHAHAHH, dying laughing. I thought I saw that last night!! I was like, you know this show is CRAZY GOOD when you got folks calling white characters the N word and for just a few seconds you are making gangsta agreements in your mind, like, yeah we GOTTA kill that n***ga but than you have to pull it back and remember its just a show. LOL!

Great recap as usual. I have so many questions.
    1. Was Charlie really working with David and Billy? I don’t think so. Not sure
    2. who killed the blonde girl in David’s bed when this new arc started? Was it Charlie? I think so
    3. what made David and Billy join forces? Billy killed the reporter, plotted against Ghost (he never liked Ghost even when he and Sally were running for office), impregnated Amanda and was an overall scumbag.
    4. what happened to David’s so called white hat? Hell, that thing is charcoal black! I guess revenge will turn his hat blacker than the pavement. I have no words—-except I never trusted David and I was telling the husband for over a month that Billy wasn’t dead.
It’s about to hit the fan next week!!!! I feel like we need a two hour finale. Who’s with me?

This episode slayed me snatched me and all my emotions and literally dumped me into a pit latrine like SHIT.

I hate the fact that Olivia has forgotten all about me since Fitz put it in between them thighs. After this episode I just really wanna be left alone to pounder on all these feelings and emotions I’m experiencing. Who knew that David was so sly I could have never EVER in all the years that Liv has trusted me been able to tell him for the absolute demon agent he is. I am unable to understand how Shonda keeps doing us like this and with absolutely no fucks to give.

As always…great recap Luvvie! Tried to borrow some Cans but my bank bankrupt!! Lawwwwwd a tornado is coming next thursday and I have no where to hide!!

Lemony lemony lemony. Mmmmm!!! Can’t say I’m surprised!! After what the gladiators did to him there is no way he’d have forgiven and forgotten that shit ryt there! Olivia seems to have lost her gut somewhere coz she should have known better than trust the dude she screwed over!

Poor Mellie. I’d feel her plight more often if her heart wasn’t so dark and fugly! How she plans on winning Fitz bak short of blackmail after opening this can of worms is beyond me. Maybe Mr Molivia Nope can fix her thirsty jewels! And for her to believe that Fitz will run for 2nd term means he choose her??………honey I’ma need to bring this sad issue to church!!

Olivia needs to sort her gut and gladiator issues asap coz it seems she’s loosing ol sense with ol this fitz/Jake drama on the brain. CLOSE UR LEGS LIVY!!! This aint the time for that shit ryt there! Does she or doesn’t she want Fitz? Why she encouraging the fool to run again? She knows he’d have to go bak to Mellie! What?! R they going to do it concubine style this time? Make up ur mind!

So Charlie saved Billy and has been working with him all along? AND lemony? Or is it just lemony, bill and mr whitley’s byron? I’m confused and spiralling into a depression! I don’t think VP Sally is a part of this… She’d go down too if the vote rigging is made public. Death by association.

This whole episode had my emotions ass up in the air!! Shonda has become enemy #1 with ol this chaos she has brought unto me! So many question and only 1 more episode! This is a sick game ya’ll r playing!

Sally ain’t in on it. Like Abby said, she has no incentive for defiance to come out. It will end her political career, even though she had nothing to do with it. And her and Billy aren’t exactly on speaking terms. She turned her back on him with that public statement Fitz forced her hand into making about him needing mental help. So he probably wants to get back at her too. Billy wasn’t an errand boy or secretary. He was the Vice President’s Chief of Staff. A young Cyrus. Definitely cut throat and able to do plenty of damage on his own.

  8. blackbutterflyny
    May 10, 2013 at 5:40 am

MamaShonda took all me on a roller coaster ride of emotions and I promptly fell asleep after watching, I am still exhausted. Must watch again, but my immediate thoughts are:

Whitley’s Byron is definitely the HNIC. Just not sure what the heck he is in charge of.

Liv’s vajajay must be like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, cause Fitz, Jake and possibly Harrison are totally slayed.

Mellie’s fixer looks as if he’s had his face fix by Michael Jackson’s plastic surgeon. Definitely was Tom Cruise’s stand-in for Interview with a Vampire.

The mole appears to be a trio. David and Billy would not have access to the White House documents, Sally would. Unless of course Billy knows her password and has been using it to access classified material. David did wake up to a dead girl in his bed and later came home to a wrecked house with someone still there. Billy was after him for the Cytron card and probably found it easy to convince him to turn on OPA since they ruined his (David’s life). He did vow to Olivia that he would find a way to destroy her. Not sure when he actually hooked up with Crazy Chambers though.

My chest hurt all over again just by reading this recap. I think I might need to watch next week’s episode in the presence of someone else. When Cyrus read James for pure filth, I DIED. And when they showed James’ cracked face, I wanted to help him pack & move out. Cyrus aint worth a damb!!Whew Jesus, Shonda Rhimes…

This show better win ALL of the Emmy awards. ALL OF THEM.

Girl, I was like, James your face is STILL on the floor baby, pick it UP! Cryus was SO mean, I was like he didn’t have to go THAT hard on him. And yeah, the Emmy’s will get a STERNLY written letter if they dont’ act right this year! lol!

      • ASNYC
        May 11, 2013 at 8:25 am

Scandal isn’t even in contention for a single Emmy. None of the writing or acting compares with the real Emmy contenders have going for them. Scandal can’t beat Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Homeland, Downton Abbey, Boardwalk Empire, and Game of Thrones.

Best Actress? First of all, Kerry Washington has very limited range, but let’s check out her competition: Claire Danes, Juliana Marguiles, Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth Moss. That’s assuming she even gets nominated (which she won’t).

Tony Goldwin isn’t that great of an actor either, but let’s peep his competition for an Emmy: Jon Hamm, Bryan Cranston, Michael C. Hall, Steve Buscemi, Hugh Bonneville. That, again, is even if he gets nominated (which he won’t).

Scandal is entertaining, but the writing, the dialogue, the plots, the lack of attention to detail, the cringe inducing speechifying, the triteness, and overall lack of creativity places it way outside the realm of Emmy contention or consideration. It’s a fun show, but it cannot be placed alongside any of the really quality and well made shows on the small screen. It gets ratings! What’s better than that?

        • May 11, 2013 at 9:09 am

WUT?!? That’s where you’re wrong. I bet Scandal is gonna get at least 3 Emmy Nominations. I won’t say more than that but I’ll just wait so I can come back to this comment and repeat how wrong it was.

          May 11, 2013 at 9:00 pm

          Luvvie,

I’ve been a devoted reader for a long time and, perhaps, because I am a loyal reader, you could extend me the courtesy of explaining to me in which categories you expect Scandal to be nominated. Indeed, I’ll put up a list of last year’s winners and you tell me which of these you think Scandal is going to dislodge.

          1. Best Drama

          Boardwalk Empire
          Breaking Bad
          Downton Abbey
          Game of Thrones
          Homeland
          Mad Men

Possible: House of Cards, The Newsroom

Where is there room for Scandal in here? Which show is gonna be kept out for Scandal or for which episode?

          2. Drama Best Actress:

          Glenn Close, Damages
          Michelle Dockery, Downton Abbey
          Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife
          Kathy Bates, Harry’s Law
          Claire Danes, Homeland
          Elisabeth Moss, Mad Men

Who’s Kerry Washington going to push out of this category? There are at least two other actresses in this category who are superior actresses on better shows like Robin Wright (House of Cards). Which episode with Kerry Washington submit for her Emmy reel

          3. Drama Best Actor

          Steve Buscemi, Boardwalk Empire
          Jon Hamm, Mad Men
          Michael C. Hall, Dexter
          Hugh Bonneville, Downton Abbey
          Damian Lewis, Homeland
          Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad

Tony Goldwyn isn’t in the same league as two potential shaker-uppers: Kevin Spacey (House of Cards) and Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom). And, which episode will he be submitting for this category. I understand liking the show, but the idea that Goldwyn can compete with better actors on better shows is, with all due respect, breathtaking in its unreality.

          4. Best Supporting Actress Drama

          Anna Gunn, Breaking Bad
          Joanne Froggatt, Downton Abbey
          Christine Baranski, The Good Wife
          Maggie Smith, Downton Abbey
          Archie Panjabi, The Good Wife
          Christina Hendricks, Mad Men

Possible newbies: Bacarrin Homeland and Kate Mara from House of Cards. Do you think anyone from Scandal can, once again, dislodge these superior actresses who are on better shows? If so, which character and for which episode?

          5. Best Supporting Actor Drama

          Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad
          Giancarlo Esposito, Breaking Bad (N/E
          Brendan Coyle, Downton Abbey
          Jim Carter, Downton Abbey
          Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones
          Jared Harris, Mad Men (N/E)

Since Jared Harris’ character is dead and Esposito too, their spots are open. Only problem for Scandal is that the following are there to compete for it:
Jonathan Banks, Breaking Bad and Corey Stoll, House of Cards. BB is a critical darling in its final season. House of Cards has buzz, good writing, and Corey Stoll is amazing. Which Scandal character(s) do you think can dislodge any of these actors and which episode will they submit?

When you say three Emmy nominations, I just assumed you meant in the drama and major acting categories. Since you are, for some reason, throwing me shade for saying that Scandal is merely entertaining rather than a critically embraced show with good writing, mature writing, and better actors, I would like your predictions. You said you wanted to keep this page to show just how wrong you think I’m going to be. Well, can you make a few predictions to see who’s right and who’s wrong.

On a side note, did I do something wrong or break a rule here? I’m surprised you would come for me this way because of something like this. You usually come for people who act up in your cyber crib. If I broke a rule (a real one, not a “Scandal is sacrosanct” rule), please tell me. I like your blog and would never disrespect it. I apologize in advance for whatever it is that I did to merit such a response.

So, are you gonna make it fair? Will you link to this page if you are totally wrong?

        • May 11, 2013 at 11:28 pm

You extracted and assumed A LOT of information from my comment. I didn’t e’em come for you nor did I throw you shade. It was a straight up comment bout how I think Scandal will get at least 3 Emmy nominations (and I didn’t e’em say in what categories but you took it to mean drama and acting). You talmbout all sorts of things I ain’t e’em say.

And yes, if I’m wrong, I’ll come back to tell you that you were right.

So yeah. Many assumptions from my short comment. And again, I ain’t come for you. Chillax.

        • July 18, 2013 at 8:40 am

I just came back to let you know Scandal got TWO Emmy nominations. Kerry Washington is up for Best Actress and Dan Bucatinsky is up for Best Guest Actor.

          Carry on.

Initially I thought Scandal would be up for an Emmy coz it really is a good show but after your break down of the possible nominations, i have to agree, its out of the realm of possibilities.
I watch Homeland, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, House of Cards and are of the mind The Newsroom is the kind of show TVs were invented for.
See now if The Newsroom doesn’t get at least one award I would be mad. I find I can’t say this about scandal, which I am here for every week! that and Luvvie’s recaps, the only series recaps I have time for. Says a lot about Luvvie’s foolery lol, but no, no awards for Scandal

          May 12, 2013 at 10:18 am

As much as I like Scandal I completely agree with your assessment. I think it might win in some lower categories like costume design or art direction, and I’m confident Kerry Washington will at least be nominated to honor her status as the first Black female lead of a network show in the past 40 years.

However, there’s a new contender showing up for the Emmys this year: The Americans. I believe Claire Danes is about to pass the crown to Kerri Russell and I wouldn’t be surprised if The Americans didn’t take the win in multiple categories. I also think House of Cards is dark horse contender but its relatively limited run may be a problem.

Also, somehow I don’t think Game of Thrones or Mad Men are going to do as well this year, and I think Shonda might get nominated (but not win) for writing because she’s been doing such a bang up job of imitating Aaron Sorkin.

@ASNYC: So Scandal isn’t Emmy material, we get it, point made. The truth hurts, especially when it’s told so snarkily and with such obvious enthusiasm. (Did you make a wrong turn on your way to the Scandal hater’s lounge area and somehow end up here?)

In any case, I do disagree with you on one point: Tony Goldwyn. Dude’s come a long way since Ghost, he’s vastly underrated as an actor.

I think Liv was wearing dark colors because Fitz is mentally back to the place where he was pre election. Notice when she figures out he wasn’t planning to run for a second term she is wearing a navy top.

You can call him Molivia, but he’s always gonna be Captain Jack to my sci fi nerdy little heart.

    May 10, 2013 at 6:42 am

After last weeks episode, I walked around zombie-like….wiping down kitchen counters and cabinets that were ALREADY clean! This week, I found myself unable to move and finally realizing that I needed to get my act together or I will be laid out next to Cyrus on next week’s show!

I have come to the conclusion that I need to step away from Scandal because I’m way too invested….and my hiatus will start immediately AFTER I leave a Scandal watch party next week!!!

    My thoughts:

1). Billy is working for the mole. He would not have had access to those classified files without some help.

2). Sally is not the mole. Defiance would ruin her political career. She would never win the presidency if the world knew her VP role was not legit.

3). For the mole(s) it’s all personal…not political. And, I’m even more convinced that Billy is working for EDISON.

4). What was that random scene about where Olivia pulled out the Cytron card in front of everyone?? In the course of the show, it made no sense why she had to go and pull it out. I think that was a set-up. She showed that card for a reason, and I think it’s either because 1) she’s never fully trusted David or 2) she and David are working covertly to set up the mole.

5). Cyus was so wrong for going off on James like that. What he said was all true, but still.

6). Jake is a good guy caught in a bad situation. His story seems to mimic Huck’s story….he loves the job until someone comes into his life (a al Huck’s son) to make him rethink.

    • CapitalKayPea
      May 10, 2013 at 9:22 am

i really think Olivia went for that card and it’s either a decoy or she was baiting David.

I have so many thoughts and feelings. I just don’t know how to organize them. My main question is who is Senator Byron???? He said “we” care when he referred to knowing about Liv and Fitz. Is Byron the Illuminati?

      • Q
        May 10, 2013 at 11:23 am

I believe it will turn out that Sen Byron is Olivia’s father. Remember, he told Jake that their original mission was to keep Fitz and Olivia apart. Somehow, someway, he is protecting her.

Also, Sen Byron and Cyrus know each other really well because they were very comfortable with each other….i think it’s due to Olivia’s past. Maybe Cyrus has always known that he was Olivia’s father, and ‘mentored’ her to keep her close.

One thing for sure, Sen Byron is a force because he had Cyrus running scared…obeying his orders to forget Charlie with no questions asked!

        • Iamtc
          May 10, 2013 at 12:52 pm

Yess!!! That’s the angle I have cooked up in my head right now that Senator Bryon is her father. We know nothing about Olivia’s past! Sigggh … 6 days sucks!

          May 10, 2013 at 4:19 pm

he could still be her father. it’s obvious that he and cyrus know each other from back in the day…maybe he hired cyrus to protect liv all of these years.

and it’s obvious that he’s protecting and using Liv at the same time.

    • LadyLarke
      May 10, 2013 at 12:45 pm

Edison…I totally forgot about that guy! He could have a hand in it…didn’t he get somewhat of a raise before he and Liv split?
And even though I wanna believe in my heart that Liv and David are working together…I doubt it. David is still butthurt about Liv and the gladiators destroying his career.

He was also on Sy Fy networks’s Eureka. In fact I’m sure SHonda likes sci fi. She also had Astrid from Fringe as Huck’s wife and now Captain Jack from Doctor WHo & Torchwood as Molivia Nope

Yes! I think Shonda is a total sci-fi nerd and that makes me heart her even more, lol! He was the genius that was also a car mechanic on Eureka, another show with a hot interracial couple and I think his name was Henry? I knew it!!! I knew Billy wasn’t dead I literally jumped up.from.my couch with my old legs jumping up and down like five year old waking my sleeping child and my mother yelling at me from upstairs to shut it all the way up cause she didnt watch yet.

Shonda and the writers don’t play they do everything for a strategic reason and I knew we ain’t seen the last of ol Billy boy when the elevator doors closed behind Charlie IDK why some people were so shocked.

I need the Gladiators to suit up and shut Lemony down and while I think VP sally has other things up her bible thumping sleeves I don’t think she is on on this. The goons raised Charlie right Jake should’ve known better that it wouldn’t be easy to kill him.

Senator Whitley’s Byron is bigger goon then Cyrus and that scares me. That is all.

Cyrus read James like a 4 page letter just filthy and when Fitz handed him his speech Cyrus soul was tired like when Mrs. Sophia came back from Jail just broken.

I Liv wore blue because she was happy and at peace not having to handle anything for a short moment she had her boo 🙁

P.S Hey Tom lol cause I am not here for Hal at all.

I checked for your blog as soon as I landed-before I even called/texted my mom…I have problems. This episode had me screaming at the tv from the jump. I can’t even read these comments because I look crazy laughing to myself. I always thought billy had something to do w the shooting and never died in season one. I called it when they left David in the room w Charlie that it was him. This was enough for a season finale-I don’t know if my nerves/anxiety can handle any more.

    Luvvie,

Reconsider re-election: it was not the oval office, it was in the bedroom in the white house, which is why Fitz was so surprised (there was a bed and a drawer), and asked how Liv got there, and she said Cyrus snuck her in and only Hal saw her. Hal the snitch, you know he’s going to snitch to Mellie again. Like why is he still in the SS?!

Poor Mellie thinking that Fitz chose her, if only she knew!!!

I just want to take this moment to show Harrison some love. EVERY week he holds Livvie down like Charli Baltimore. He is RIDE OR DIE. NO LIMIT. alladat. I need Liv to show him a little more love and affection. Basically I need them to be together. Cuz the Olitz mess? I am no longer here for it. Harrison would love her and treat her so good. He would probably cook for her… shirtless. And I would like to see that scene. Also, he looked so sessy (joseline hernandez voice) in his plaid shirt and suspenders. Okay I’m done.

    • CeeFu
      May 10, 2013 at 11:43 am

Word. I am THRU with Olitz! I don’t like the way Fitz makes all these decisions and expects Liv to go along with them. SOMEBODY had to read Olivia: girl, get it together!

You are right: Harrison is like the greek chorus, with the TRUTH, every week!

      • Stace
        May 14, 2013 at 1:40 pm

I finally had to comment…I needed a defibrillator after this last episode…I hoped off the Harrison fan club bandwagon because I think HE is the mole. Why you ask, well we know something about almost everybody BUT him and why Olivia ‘saved him’. I think Albatross will be a newly introduced character to shuttle us into season 2. And I have absolutely NOTHING to base that off

  20. rikyrah

Cyrus thinks Olivia convinced Fitz not to pursue a 2nd term. No. Her Love Pocket did.

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Cyrus was too harsh with James. He was just too cruel. Broke my heart for James.

I still can’t even talk this morning. Mind is still processing it.

    Ok,

Good points – I love John Barrowman. I mean, I really love him, so whatever has to happen to keep him on – I want it done. When he read Mellie about herself, I was as speechless as she was. He’s a keeper.

Harrison always looking out for Olivia – warmed my heart. I mean, he’s true blue to the end.

As for Senator Byron – WHO THE FUCK IS HE?

HAS NOBODY ADDRESSED HIM BY TITLE?

I mean, he’s got CIA teams running around, Cyrus did just what he asked, and didn’t blink.

    WHO IS HE?

Cyrus works for THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, and he gives him lip.

He didn’t give Senator Byron ANY LIP. it was like ‘ YES, SIR.’

    Billy Chambers as the MOLE
    and David working with him.

Still trying to wrap the mind around that. I could have accepted one or the other…but both…that unholy alliance…. the evil that swirls in this combination is frightening.

    • QuitaP
      May 10, 2013 at 10:33 am

Whitley’s Bryon’s storyline is reminding of Adjustment Bureau or the bald guys in suits from Fringe. Does he secretly run the world? Also, I was slightly afraid that Cyrus was in B613!

    • Veritas
      May 12, 2013 at 3:50 am

Senator Byron is probably like a republican party goon, a behind the scenes kind of guy, the nigga who makes sure the republican boys stay in line so I don’t think he has any actual title.

  21. Court
    May 10, 2013 at 8:28 am

I am just as confused as ever.

Why does Bryon want Charlie dead? Does he know that Charlie let Billy go and is working with him?

Is David working with Billy due to blackmail….or is David working with Billy out of a need to get the President and Olivia at the same time. David had gotten to the point where he absolutely hated Olivia because she kept winning.

I’ve heard a lot of noise about Jake and Olivia being the thing that sets Fitz off…but I’m sorry, you can’t be mad if your mistress cheats on you. There is just something wrong with that.

Mellie is playing every card in the book to get her man back. He told her their marriage was an arrangement. She should have listened. He doesn’t love her.

Did anyone pick up Bryon telling Jake that his original mission was to keep Olivia and the President apart? I wonder why? Who gave the orders for that original mission?

So is Byron the dude that gives you “a guy” when you get political power?

Why is Huck able to walk around freely if he was supposed to be dead? If there isn’t a deal…then why? Why hasn’t he been given the tracking powder?

    • Q
      May 10, 2013 at 8:54 am

      YES!!!!

I picked up on what Senator Byron said, and it makes no since to me. First, he wants to use Olivia to flush out Albatross, now he’s saying that his original mission was to keep them apart???

I really just makes no sense.

        May 10, 2013 at 9:28 am

Senator Byron must have a personal stake, too. WHAT IF HE IS RELATED TO EDISON?!?!

Edison didn’t just slink away. Remember, he suspected Liv was sleeping with the Prez. Sen. Byron might be working for Edison. or his brother. Or…

        • Mrs. Woods

      May 10, 2013 at 9:56 pm

Are we underestimating Mellie though? I don’t think she’s that naive. I’m actually starting to believe the theory that she orchestrated this whole thing (moving to Blair House, the interview, plus withholding Livs name) bc her plan is to encourage a Fitz/Liv reunion. She might have a clue and know he would run to Liv. Reelection coming up and they will need Liv again. Call me crazy, but don’t count her out. She’s pimped out her husband and Liv before, I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility now. Remember she said she would lie (and I think anything else) if it’s in HER best interest.

  22. ASNYC
    May 10, 2013 at 8:43 am

I can’t stand Liv or her relationship because she’s trifling. I watch the show for the readings, the trickery, and wig snatching. Cyrus opened the Library of Congress on James’ ass and I loved it. He read him for filth. You woulda thought Damocles’ sword was hanging over his head the way he reached down deep to get the barbs he threw James’ way. And, James deserved it. How many times must he be fooled? I got my life with that read and I’m walking around waiting for someone to give me a chance to read him or her. My message to the world: Come at me, bro!

Also, I hope David brings down the whole show. Liv is acting like Fitz is a great president and deserved to win. I guess our country is a constituency of one. I can’t wait until she exposed for the shady slattern she is.

David should know, however, that people who collude with Billy wind up taking dirt naps. David ain’t built for this cloak and dagger life (PS: Neither is Quinn!). He’s gonna wind up sleepin’ with the fishes.

    Team Mellie and Billy.

*takes deep bow* It was that or microwavable bitch because any of her randoms can push a few buttons and she’s ready (Fitz, Sen. Pudding Pop, Jake, etc.). Anyone who thinks she’s a boss bitch is delusional. Liv gets summoned, she’s treated as a pawn in an elaborate game, she’s not her own weapon because her “power” really does come at the discretion of her allies and whether they are able. Once Fitz gets through with her or she makes him angry, he’ll dip his pen into the White House ink again. I think she likes losing.

    • Amber

Girl bye. David dumb ass is going to stumble….seriously you got B316 and the OPA and you think David is going to overtake all of them. Please

And Fitz is a good president. His personal life might be a mess but he is a good president. Team Mellie that pathetic dummy.

And your hate for Liv seems personal.Like you gotta problem with boss bitches because that what she is. Yes boss bithces have relationship problems and are prone to their emotions but honey Olivia Pope is fucking BOSS! Mellie is white woman who think she owns the damn world and that whole interview did more damage then good.

Anyone who condons her husband having an affair for her own political endgame is a woman who never get my sympthany. Because if she was true boss then she would have named Olivia. But she isn’t. She is weak and scary. She knows if she did that her ass would have ZERO POLITICAL CAPITAL. Her days of power would be none.

And she doesn’t want to risk that because that’s all she cares about. Hell they gave the dummy a deal. She have took it. Hell even the fixer read her ass from A to Z. Bitch it is too late for a “happy, fixed marriage”

And Billy….his ass will be dead to the bed soon. Chile please!

You gotta stop riding Shonda’s dick! You are riding for her harder than you ride for your own mother. Being attached to a fictional character to the point that you’re making bizarre and, frankly, unintelligent attacks on a stranger on the internet, is troubling. You may want to consider separating your real life and the life in the magic box with the moving pictures. I hope you get hope with your inability to control your distress and hostility stemming from this maladaptive and dysfunctional trait. One can only conclude that the stakes of what transpires on this show are so high for you because everything in your life is so low stakes. For this, I pity you. Take heart! The year is somewhat young! This may yet still be your year to get a life.

So glad to know I wasn’t the only one wall sliding FOR MY LIFE (in my Ru Paul’s Drag Race voice, lol) and Mama Shonda sho nuff didn’t f*ck it up, lol! I don’t even know where to start, but I gotta to give props to Moliva Nope (Luvvie, you slayed me with that nickname lol) He told Mellie ALL the things a REAL friend would have told her crazy rump a LONG time ago. Mellie is the reason you need at least ONE good friend, as they will tell you the ENTIRE truth about yourself before you end up like poor Mellie, thinking your man is really choosing you when he just wants to get re-elected. This show got me cursing at the tv, coming into work late and acting like a goon over David’s betrayal. I actually think someone called him a n*gga on twitter, lol! I need to send Luvvie a medical bill because I was dying reading her tweets on commercial break. People, be advised to hide ya kids, ignore your husbands and just take next Friday off work, I have a feeling that Mama Shonda is going to literally KILL IT next week!

Side note- Luvvie- when you have your season finale party, make sure everyone knows that there is no talking is allowed except on commercial break, because once you start hitting the pause button to chit chat, you will be behind and you gotta be the first one to recap the situation for us as I am going to be laid out like one of Beyonce’s good wigs!

Gurl, my best friend, I mean my BEST FRIEND that I *thought* I would take a bullet for called last night during Scandal. I hit that decline call button and texted her that I couldn’t talk cause Scandal was on.

It’s not just you, lol!Your bff will forgive you, at least you sent her a text! Last season, my bff went into labor and called me during Scandal and I didn’t even answer the phone, I was like, shoot, I ain’t her man or 9-1-1 and I totally blamed it on Sprint and acted like I didn’t get her call until after the show went off.
Okay, so I DID get her a $200 Costco gift card out of guilt for missing most of the birth of my godson……..wait, either Scandal is a really good show or I am a horrible human being, lol! I blame Mama Shonda, lol!

I don’t get why folks are finding it hard to believe that David would screw them. He did stand for truth and ethics before and then they wrecked his entire life, and pretty much left him to flap in the wind. Then when they feel sorta bad they help him and sorta let him join them. It’s like Mean Girls, now you hang out with the cool kids, sorry about destroying your career and whatnot, we cool? I hope he isn’t being blackmailed and is doing this as revenge, it shows some depth to his character. I also found Huck blaming Charlie for losing his family weird, since in the flashback episode it looked like Charlie warned him and let him get away. Well we shall see.

    • Jennifer
      May 10, 2013 at 1:33 pm

I think Charlie ratted Huck out to the head goons in charge. They didn’t know he had a wife and kid. Charlie found out first.

      • sadiqua
        May 11, 2013 at 12:22 pm

Charlie sure did rat him out. EEVERYONE was standing around that hole when the head guy kept asking him if he had a wife and kid. Charlie should have killed Huck when he had the chance, but I think what he said this week sums it up. Charlie wants a life, too. All that running and hiding and mess probably has worn on him. He didnt kill Huck because he was maybe mad that he had found a way to balance his happiness and family with his dark side.

So….I sat on the floor and watched Scandal because I knew that’s where I was gonna end up anyway. It was so much happening last night and I was here for all of it! Senator Byron pissed at Jake for failing at his job. I think Senator Byron is Olivia’s father because he is not kidding around with Jake about staying close to her and protecting her (I think). Jake’s walking around with his shoes on backwards because he wants Olivia and knows he can’t have her because she doesn’t want anyone but Fitzgerald Grant. Olivia’s walking around with “Sweet Love Hangover” on repeat in her head, but still on the job somewhat and Mellie doesn’t know which way is up because she didn’t know what Fitz was going to do. Also, I’m not here for John Barrowman as the new fixer on Scandal. Keep him on Arrow or put him back on Torchwood and keep him out of the gladiator world because…just NO! And we now know that Defiance is so much bigger than the five people that sat on that plane and decided to fix the election.

I honestly did not expect it to be Billy Chambers, but I love the fact that Shonda did that…it was a great twist.

    I have some questions though…

What if the Cytron card that David stole isn’t the real card and OPA set him up to see if he was going to take the bait? Think about it…Olivia went in to safe and put in the combination in front of everybody like no big deal. SET UP!Olivia isn’t that careless…she’s even cautious about what she shows to the people that work for her.I think the gladiators have kept David close because they always suspected something and they knew in true David fashion his arrogance would mean that he would overplay his hand. I think when they left the office on a break, they watched David go into the safe and take the card out and they probably watched him get in the car with Billy Chambers too. The phone calls, the shock, and look of shame on Harrison’s face when the card went missing were all an act.

How gangster is Fitz for telling the press that his marriage is not their business?

What universe does Mellie live where she thinks that she still has a shot with Fitz? I honestly still don’t think it’s love, she just doesn’t want to lose her position. She was bred to be the wife of a man like Fitz and losing that would mean she is a failure.

Did anyone else kinda like Cyrus reading his husband James for filth about doing that interview and the fact that he was dumb for not knowing that Mellie got him that job for that very reason? Maybe just me *shrugs*

    Great post, Luvvie!

      May 10, 2013 at 1:36 pm

      Girl you are so point!!!!!

      1. According to IMDb, the Byron character is the Secretary of Defense.

      2. I think it is fake card too. Because Olivia seemed unfazed the card was stolen and more worried about the name. I think she was on to David and like you said wanted to see if he was going to take the bait. Now I could be wrong but even that sneak peek clip with Fitz she seemed unfazed.

      3. OMG, you hit the nail on the head when it comes to Mellie. It is like a princess who has been groomed for a prince all her life. If Mellie and Fitz divorce her whole life would be for nothing. She was basically trained all her life to be the wife of a president.

Bonus Thought: Until Fitz fall in love with Olivia, love was factor that never crossed Mellie’s mind. Remember she was find wiht pretending. But now she is starting to realize that love sometimes trumps power. That though power is great, it means shit without love…..and Fitz has realized this.

So deep down, in her own way she is starting to realize how differnt her life could have been if she really loved Fitz not pretend she did. But it’s too late. Cuz his has stopped pretending to give a damn! LOL The gag is up. Like that man said I can’t make him love you. Honey, I can’t fix that.

      4. I like Cyrus reading James but he went too far. But Karma is catching up to Cyrus next week because as we seen in the promo his ass fell dead to the concrete! LOL

And we don’t know what was “REALLY” in those folders that she gave to Harrison and yelled, “combos in the folder.” Who knows, that may have been done for David’s benefit. There’s no way youn destroy a person’s life so bad that their grandmother has to pay their rent and they don’t seek revenge. He just accepted his fate and became a Gladiator, yeah right. She knew what she was doing

I have so much can’t over this episode I don’t even know what my questions are!

Agree with others VP not involved. Fitz goes down, VP goes down (thanks gg for reminding me.)

And, yes, how DID David and Billy and Charlie get together? A goon triad.

Huck didn’t kill Charlie?! Quinn is not a real goon yet. Still gooey inside. He had a lapse perhaps because he’s still walking around (albeit as a “ghost”) because Charlie didn’t kill him. That was kind of inconsistent with Huck’s character IMO.

I was a dummy and did trust David’s turnaround. Abby’s love pocket and OPA’s shut-down of dead girl mess–I thought he was enjoying being in the in crowd. Call me sucker!

Yes, blackbutterfly, who the hell IS Byron working for? We can expect the worst since IRL politics is nasty. And Shonda has no mercy on us! This makes me both worshipful and fearful. Damb.

Agree w Tamara–James probably should just move out. I love Cyrus, but he’s abusive toward James. I think they really love each other, but James might get “ruint” before this is all over.

Have we seen or heard the last of Senator Pudding Pop (prefer Luvvie’s name Senator Raisin) or not??

I, too, thought it was weird how OP marched to the safe and opened it and waved the Cytron card around. Red herring? O knew Abby had lied to David about it, so why reveal? O’s gut definitely distracted.

Why do Fitz and O and Cyrus and whomever still have conversations about secret and/or damaging stuff in the Oval Office. Even whey they walk off camera, the mikes are still on. Remember Watergate? That was ALL audio!

And who IS Byron and why in hell he wants Olitz to split?

I need all fences. Jesus fence. Oprah fence. All kinda fences.

I am so confused and have too many questions:
    1. Why did Jake and his no-name boss get the CIA director killed if he wasn’t the mole?
    2. Have those 2 always known who the mole is? They seemed concerned when Jake discovered that Olivia knew the director wasn’t the mole (a couple of episodes ago)

I’m so confused I don’t even remember my other questions. All I know is my mind is in shambles.

  30. May 10, 2013 at 10:10 am

Senator Whitley’s Byron is definitely the HNIC and I LIKE IT. He shut down everybody this episode. When he had CYRUS heading back to the cut talmbout “I don’t even KNOW you” to Charlie I was like alright then! My girl Mellie….with her hopes all up thinking Fitz did it for the family…I hope Molivia Nope stays around to help her see CLEARLY next week once Prez Ghost lets his reasoning be known…because he will…just to spite her. Although I can’t see WHY he had to know the mistresses name. That wasn’t really relevant to the job so I’m not really trusting him. Seems to be some ulterior motives there.
Oh Cyrus, why did you have to be so AWESOME with the gut punch to James. Poor little tink tink. Cy has been having some rough days. I’m sure that all the stress Prez Ghost has him under caused the completely straight no chaser rant, he will be all apologetic now that the presidency is back on. However I hope he still has his room at the hotel cause his stuff is probably already on the sidewalk .
There is DEFINITELY something going to come out of that comment about Charlie wanting the same deal Huck has to walk around without issue. Believe that.
I’m not sure about Lemony. Is it highly possible he is all in on his own but just as possible that he was blackmailed or led here in some way.
Harrison…yes and yes. Also he probably needs to go talk to Prez Ghost about delivering speeches to Liv cause he fell a little short.
And Jake is getting finer and finer. Last week when he stood up to Cyrus I was like…well dayum your sessy just ratched up a notch and this episode he continued to spiral upward. I’m not gonna hold the complete dressing down Senator Whitley’s Byron gave him against him cause he had everybody saying yes sir and going to sit down.
Can’t wait for the finale. Shonda has already said the last 5 minutes are going to slap everybody in the face so get those walls ready for sliding!

I kept waiting for him to turn up stinkin and when he didn’t I knew Shonda was fittna bring him back. I screamed, I cussed on twitter, I woke up late, I died a few deaths, and I am still here trying to get my life…

So here is what I think.

Olivia showing the chip- either a test or she silly… either way, I do hope this was planned and on purpose.

I would really love to see David’s face though, when he realizes that Olivia was sleeping with the pres. BUT, CHARLIE.

Do you think they are going to get him? I am thinking that Huck may let him roll out like he let him… when he was supposed to kill him. BUT, who knows. Charlie needs to die, cause he dont know how to do his job…

AlSO, what is the bigger story with the ghost gooon? I mean, what is HIS end game? I need to see all these pieces cause it sounds like he is trying to save the presidency while Billy is breaking it up.

Speaking of Billy, I KNEW he wasnt dead. Everyone else who has been killed has been seen as dead on the show… 🙁 BUT, I do agree with some of the comments above that Billy taking orders or is a puppet who THINKS he is making it twerk.

So we shall see. AND we def need a two hour finale. BOOM.

  33. justme
    May 10, 2013 at 10:43 am

I know we all love Huck, I absolutely do, BUT, lemme ask 2 questions:
    1) Why *does* Huck get to walk around like he was never a top secret assassin at the highest level of government like it’s no issue? What deal did he get?
    2) Why did he “try to kill” Charlie in his apartment where Quinn could easily stop him? In the history of Huck’s killings, he has always brought dudes to random warehouses, etc, never his own apt.

I’m not saying Huck is suspect, but…I have questions.

Also, can we just talk about how they should’ve just let him NOT run for second term. 2 cheating allegations, Defiance, he effing killed Verna…I mean, he’s got an uphill battle, too many skeletons in that closet begging to fall out!

    • Penelope
      May 10, 2013 at 12:28 pm

I have been asking that question about the whole B613 storyline. The bigger question is this: remember Spies Like Us? Weren’t all of those ex-assassins affiliated with B613? And. ALL of them have gone on to lead perfectly normal lives, with families, etc. Now we learn that once you go B613, u aren’t going back to a normal life. Does anyone else see a problem reconciling these two episodes. It has been driving me INSANE that this inconsistency has not been addressed or explained

    • Kim
      May 10, 2013 at 6:01 pm

I can only assume that 1) who gon’ check Huck? I think it’s that elephant in the room syndrome. Everybody knows that they shouldn’t ignore Huck in those situations but who is really going to take a chance on his wildcard personality & say something to him.

      2) I think it was personal with Charlie. It’s never been personal with anyone else. He’s vulnerable with him. Charlie was his mentor & he spared his wife & kid. They seem to kind of have a killer bromance that makes them look over each other’s moves.

      • May 10, 2013 at 7:58 pm

Love, love, love the show. Watched it with hub (his first time) and he was all like “this isn’t believable” knocking everything down – Pres giving up office for the jump-off. It got me to thinking would folk be all love story swooning if all the characters were of the same race? Or – if both Mellie and Liv were black and the pres were white – or whatever. Remember watching Jungle Fever back in the day – thinking the characters were both so icky and unlikeable that you didn’t root for them or didn’t want their relationship to work because Wesley was married and Annabella was just a putz. Had nothing to do with their race – they just weren’t right for each other. Just curious if folk root so hard for Olivia because she is black and coz the president is white and a man of power and some may feel black women haven’t had people in power give up everything to love them. That wing fan coat though is what’s up. Need to find me one in my budget.

  37. May 10, 2013 at 11:16 am

i get the feeling that david’s collusion with chambers is not at all voluntary. when he was in the car handing over the card, and chambers was smirking it up, ol’ david was still wearing that hurt rabbit face.
might not sound like much, but on this show, everything means something, even passing facial expressions. i won’t be at all surprised to learn that david’s doing this under duress. still don’t like him, tho…

    • May 10, 2013 at 8:01 pm

Remember, David lost Everything he has no reputation, his white has was taken and stomped on by the government.

He is in a dark dark place and a man with nothing to lose will do anything, including betray his country (the one that hung him our to dry over Defiance)

I don’t know if this was brought up but during the episode Charlie said he wants whatever deal Liv got for Huck even though she denied such a thing but what if Sen. Whitley’s Byron is her father then she could have made the deal. Sen. Is no fool he knows everything going on he has to know Huck is alive but how come he hasn’t taken him out yet….Just a Theory and i could be overthinking but its plausible like I said Shonda and em don’t just put things out there for no reason.

@KemaB…Yes, I need to re-watch but when Liv left Cyrus at the park, weren’t she and Whitley’s Byron in the same shot? She said, “This place used to also be a zoo?” As you said, Shonda doesn’t just put stuff out there for no reason, right?

U just stabbed me with that illuminati line!
I think Billy, senator whitley’s byron and David are working together and its more likely its for someone else entirely.

    Me thinks:

Sally has too much to loose. Death by association. She’d never be credible as a replacement for fitz nor able to run for presidency with that dark cloud over her. Besides, her bible hugging self just doesn’t fit this plot. And from the episode they did say someone else was logging into the white house network.

Liv myt be working with David to flush out the mole/plot since he was the only link they had to the albatross plot…..who knows. They always did have a wierd relationship.

Maybe the Democrat candidate (season 2 episode 2 or 3 I think) who lost….that is as personal as it gets!!! Loosing that election turned him fugly and he set up his own wife! Me thinks they r laying a foundation for his return since he might be the tru winner of that election! It did drive him crazy that he lost by a few votes!

Or Senator Raisin coz he already suspected shady things Liv was up to. And being rejected twice by the same woman myt make him vengeful and Senator Whitely’s Byron did say they wher originally supposed to keep fitz and Liv apart.

Who knows but I’m banking on the Loosing Demacrat at this point coz I’ve exhausted ol possibilities!

Damn Shonda and ur heartless self!

The questions that are nagging at me: why did Fitz decide to suddenly drop Livs protection? Recall after she left the hospital he had Jake following her everywhere. Why would that have stopped? Nothing changed in terms of the danger she is in. If anything, it has gotten worse. Where was Chambers all of this time and who, aside from David and Charlie are working for him? Given the fact that he was disgraced publicly by Sally, how is it that he’s still connected to all of this intel and nobody knows about it? Is he working for Sally? I feel so clueless, lol. Great recap, LOVE the #guesswhogotlaid gif. Too too funny!

Can you imagine the conversation Billy and Charlie had on the elevator and Billy’s apartment? That conversation is why Billy is alive and Charlie didn’t kill him.

I don’t believe VP Sally is in cahoots with Billy. Remember, she threw him under the bus in the press conferenc saying he was a little touched and due to Fitz blackmailing her about her daughter. Billy had already resigned but he saw VP Sally’s press conference before he got on the elevator.

Again, poor Mellie. She thinks she’s in control of something. Bless her heart.

The same with James. I like him but he doesn’t know the people in his circle. Bless his heart.

Poor Cyrus. Between Mellie, Fitz, Olivia, Charlie, James, Jake and now Sentator Whitely’s Byron, he has way too much on his plate. He NEEDS a vacation. And yes I did see the preview of next week’s episode. Lawd!

As for David, I’m not surprised. I called him as the mole. I will change that to mole-adjacent.

    • May 10, 2013 at 8:08 pm

Oh I like the way you mind works.

I concur VP Sally is bat shit crazy but not a traitor to her country but like David, Billy has not a dang thing to lose and just revenge to get on everyone.

This mole trifecta is something else. They are the nothing to lose crew.

Billy – Albatross / Former VP Chief of Staff (nothing to lose)
Charlie – Killer / B613 Assassin (nothing to lose)
David – Former White Hat wearer / US Attorney (nothing to lose)

Can I tell y’all that I checked for this post before I rolled outta bed this morning? Shameless, I know but true.

I am still processing, so I can’t say much, but one thing I feel pretty solid on is Fitz:

What in de hell??? What did he DO to “earn” Liv’s cookie?? He wasn’t going to run for re-election ANYWAY! I agree with Luvvie on this one. He didn’t make that gesture for Liv, he made it because he was scared of Big Jerry being right. *arms folded hard side eye*

How are they in any different place? All that he has done is make a huge hot azz mess of the United States of Scandal America, which I find superbly annoying.

Next week, he’ll likely find out about Liv and Jake..OK, um…so? Had he not asked Jake to spy on her, he would have never had that much intel on her to know how to get to her.

Chile, @ 10:01 PM, I just wanted to lay and reassess my life.

    – Billy Chambers is the mole! #Imsodome but it really does make sense if you think about it. For Shonda to make one of the current characters (VP Sally and Hellis included) would be too much like right. And for my Season 1 watchers, think about how Billy left everything and how he was ousted.

    – Lemony, Lemony, LEMONY!!!! *in my Kelis voice* I HATE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW!!!! I get that OPA screwed you out of your dream job and everything, but think logically, fool! You’re committing treason just to ease yo butthurt ego and feelings….*in my Celie voice* “Til you do right by OPA and Amurica, everything you touch gon fail!”

    – Between Cyrus Beene, America’s Goon in Chief and Senator Whitley’s Byron, King and Maker of Goons, I’ont know who gooning betta.

    – Speaking of Cyrus, SIR, just cause yo boy basically told you he gives -5 fucks about the presidency, that didn’t give you the right to crush yo man’s spirit. He was happy he had his big break, damb the details, and after he gave you some bomb head last week (Y’all saw Cyrus’ face last week, tell me I’m lyin’) Had that man sitting there crying. You sir, are a little bish under pressure.

    – Mellie, I have said once and I will say it again. FITZ IS NOT, HAS NEVER, AND WILL CONTINUE TO NOT BE HERE FOR YOU AND YOURS!!!! #thatisall

I don’t even wanna think about the May 16th slayage. I can already see I’ma be humming “Dr. Watts Hymn” like a church mother; chile I already got MLK fan amd my hymnal on standby! #Iamdone #Shondacanhaveme

P.S. – for my cheap (read: broke) AweLuv folks who haven’t seen Season 1, you can go to a website call 1channel.ch. They have all the episodes in great quality. Shoo, that’s how I caught up #dontjudgemylife

I also believe that Byron is Liv’s dad. He’d rather see her with someone he can control. She had to have gotten her control freak ways from someone!

I was watching Charlie’s hand as he wrote…it appeared that he put David Rosen…I think they know exactly who took card and who he’s working with.

Harrison…come be my gladiator! Liv doesnt appreciate you.

Mellie’s fix it guy sounded like Liv except he was going too hard on the NAME. I wonder if he used to work for her.

James better pack Cy’s stuff, throw it out the window, file for divorce and demand sole physical and legal custody. NOW! Nobody who loves you will treat you like that.

I still think Sallie is behind it all and she is going to FALL! Huck is going to get to her next season…just watch…

Atlease next week is two hours!

I haven’t even read any of the comments, but I just have to say that when James’ lip started quivering after Cyrus walked out, I got the same feeling I got from Denzel’s one tear in Glory! That hurt my heart!!! I want James to pack up that little chocolate drop baby and leave. Cyrus is too damn mean and selfish and doesn’t deserve him!

Yes!! That was the best emotional scene in the whole episode because it had me all worked up ready to tell Cyrus off. I felt so bad for James! But looks like Cyrus is lying on someone’s floor next week in need of 911. All that hate in his probably clogged off his aorta!

Why in the hell would Olivia open the safe in front of everyone? When she did please go back and peep how Lemony was craning his neck to see what it was.

Was I the only one disappointed about the return of Billy Chambers? I was actually let down. When they gave the name and showed him sitting in the car I was like “Meh” and rolled my eyes. I didn’t even care about him in Season One. I hope they really kill him off in the season finale because otherwise season three is not gonna be hitting on anything for me.

And can we please once again talk about Olivia getting a new apartment because in the season finale promo it looks like she is getting got AGAIN. Security detail slipping!!

YES!!!!! And I am HERE for all that!!!! I would be happy if the whole third season was just Fitz running for prez with Olivia on the campaign trail. That’s it. And the side plot could just be Harrison running OPA and fixing little cases while she is away. I, honestly, would be quite happy with that. That finale promo had a LOT going on! I’ve watched it about ten times already trying to figure out what’s going down.

I think Charlie & Billy have always been working together because when we last saw Billy he was on an elevator fresh off of VP Sally throwing him under the bus to save her own ass and who pops on the elevator right before the door closes? Charlie! Of course most of us assumed Billy got murked but clearly that didn’t happen. So how did Billy survive that elevator ride? The two of them must have already been knowing each other because Charlie would not have announced his intentions to kill him thereby giving Billy time to beg for his life. They already had a working relationship but Cy didn’t know that when he issued Billy’s murking. I think that was a charade with Charlie holding the gun to David’s head.

Okay ladies… Anybody in the DMV interested in having a viewing party together? I live in Alexandria, off of King St and I have a party room that I can reserve with a huge ass TV. We can bring food, and alldat. If there is interest, then respond under this post and I will reply with my email. Let’s make this happen! If others have a better idea and a more central location, let me know. I’d be happy to join!

David disappointed me. Mellie…. bleh. Billy… you dirty dirty dawg. Cyrus, take some pressure tablets and chill out. I don’t know how he can function like that. I LOVED Olivia’s outfit with the blue top… That’s a hot career outfit. I can’t believe it’s the end of season 2 already. Dang.

I am glad that other people think that Byron is Olivia’s dad, I have been saying so from the moment he popped up on the scene. Jake truly cares for Liv. I think the reason Byron wants him to come between Liv and Fitz is because the ish is about to rain down like monsoon season in India and Byron dose not want her to get caught in the flood.

David is being set up/blackmailed by Billy because of the girl Billy had killed in his bed, pictures were probably taken so there is still evidence of the crime. Yes he wants revenge for what OPA did to him (who wouldn’t), but the line in the promo “can you smell the justice?”, and David’s expression shows that he is not all about this plan and has reservations.

Fitz is a douche and will always be a doucHe bag, I said last week that he was “earning” Liv for 22 mins (she was not even worth a full half hour, how sad), that he was bluffing because he was hoping that Mellie would change her mind. He was only using Olivia as his fall back plan and the fact that he never signed the re-election papers is proof of that.

In the promo Fitz says he wants to marry Olivia and bring her in the whitehouse but that is bare BS, because there is no way that he would bring his black mistress into the white house and marry her, that statement proves that this show is truly fiction, Olivia is the modern day Sally Hemmings (Hemmingway? someone tell me which is the right spelling), ain’t that a sad thing.

I think the person who will “attack “Olivia is the the chick from the donut store, sent there by Sen Byron to possibly rescue Olivia. There is a new good squad with Sally, Billy, Sen Puddin Pop, and a blackmailed David. Just like Billy reappeared Sen Pop is still on the scene behind the curtains waiting for his chance.

I don’t think Jake cares for Olivia at all. I think his whole connection is that he wants what Fitz has. I am saying now and I say again…I think that Jake is Fitz’s brother –> son of Big Jerry and Verna. He is about revenge, not feelings.

As for Fitz being a douche: this dude is not starting from scratch. He is Liv’s friend, her confidant…the only person that can make her smile reach her eyes…the person that GETS her. And him earning her wasn’t about time…it was about letting Mellie know that he had noooo f’s left to give about this pretense they are in. His name is slandered, his presidency possibly tarnished but he doesn’t care. He let his wife know that Olivia is #1 and that is what Liv wanted. Not saying he doesn’t need to do more…but he has done plenty, including offer to walk away from everything for her. She is his first love…

I knew that “Whitley’s Byron” was a reference to “Different World” but could not remember Byron at all. (of course my kids were teens when the show was on so I may not have been paying close attention.) Anyway today I broke down and googled “Whitley’s Byron” and up came a youtube video of the “almost” wedding. Fun to see Byron looking so young…
    A great recap as always…

Okay so I usually just lurk, but I have to ask someone to do me a favor. Can someone clearly layout/remind me of Billy’s storyline from Season 1. Yes, I watched it, but I don’t really remember. May 11, 2013 at 12:34 am

Billy hates Fitz because he thinks he is a philanderer. In the trail, it was Billy that recorded the sex tape of Fitz and liv. He didn’t know who was on the tape so he got Amanda Tanner to get close to Fitz to make it look like Fitz was having an affair with Amanda.

Billy takes the sex tape to Sally, but Sally already accepted Fitz’s offer for vice president and told Billy to let it go.

Then we last see Billy on the elevator with Charlie because Charlie is supposed to kill Billie, but we never know for sure if he is dead.

I am too overwrought right now to say anything with sense, so I’m just gonna say DAMN YOU SHONDA AND CO!!!!!! Oh, and I HATE Fitz’s guts right now. I hated him from the minute he started convincing Liv to get with him and I HATE him more each episode. And Liv is getting on the nerve ending of my last nerve with her foolishness! Chile, grow the hell UP and realise your worth! No man ‘earns’ you by staying with the wife he claims to hate and then opening you up to public vitriol for your part in bringing down the dollyhouse.

Ok, back to reality. It’s just a show. As Shonda advised, I’ma go hug a friend and not tweet (or comment) my craziness…

    May 10, 2013 at 9:41 pm

    My thoughts:

Edison is behind all of this!! He is the only person who has a grudge against Liv and Fitz AND nearly as much power as the president. Who else would hire someone to come between the president and Liv? Cause let’s be clear, Billy isn’t that bright. He is working for someone else.

Jake is either Fitz’s brother or he wanted Mellie back in the day and he is mad about Fitz getting her and treating her like ish.

Cyrus is bout to move into the brownstone with Kadidjah, Sinclair and Regine – straight Living Single. James ain’t got time for his foolishness.

I bet money that whatever Liv has in that black file is about MELLIE…she has the ability to shut her all the way downnnnn.

David got set up. Po lil thing. He better hope Abby doesn’t shoot him when she finds out. She got all that pent up rage…and sexual frustration. SMH.

I have been going back and forth on this Liv and Fitz business. I am a fan but…I don’t know – it was too easy. A few tears and arguments and it’s all good. Uhm. No. But on the flip side – I recognize that they are each others first loves so there are a lot more free passes given for stupidity. I would love to see Liv in the white house running ish…and Shonda just might make it happen.

Here’s MY question…why are Molivia Pope’s lips so daggone red?

  62. May 11, 2013 at 1:06 am

Can we all just say Hey now to the sexy John Barrowman as Molivia? Looking very fit and fine as heck at forty-six. Mmm hmmm, Captain Jack from Doctor Who. You’ve got a job, baby.

I believe that Mellie knew very well that Fitz was to be assassinated that night. She’s playing a long, dangerous game and just might end up dead…or reappearing one season after her supposed demise because Shonda likes to make our blood pressure go up on Thursday nights. Bless.

I really don’t know what I’m gonna do with my life after next week… Can we get a Talking Scandal show, like Talking Dead? Even a half hour would be just enough to hold me til next season. I’m just sayin.

The Mole, IMO, is an operation larger than just three people. Because Jake and Sen Whitley’s Byron were concerned before when they learned that Liv figured out the CIA head wasn’t Albatross. As was Cyrus. I can’t quite wrap my head around how they all connect, but I’m definitely aware that they all somehow are working together. And they have some BIG dirt on Fitz, and it’s definitely personal.

Lastly, I was sad for James after Cy tore into him like that. It was too cruel. Nothing hurts more than knowing the person who is supposed to love you doesn’t even respect what you do.

Oh, and what Quinn told Huck when he was about to off Charlie was what he told her after she asked him to kill Hollis. She was only reminding him that OPA does not gladiate for personal vendettas.

  64. May 11, 2013 at 10:19 am

Chile…this show slays and snatches my life every week! Question: Do Shonda and Kerry know that Joe Morton’s character will always and forever be known as Senator Whitley’s Byron thanks to Luvvie and Black Twitter? Heck, does Joe Morton know? I hope they do and I hope they love it!

Great recap Luvvie… I am still hyperventilating from this episode. I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster while watching it. When Cyrus yelled “GET UP” to Prez Fitz & Mellie it made me feel like a teen caught doing the nasty in my parents bed. I had to clutch my pearls LOL.

And Molivia Nope? I literally cackled out loud when reading that!

This episode rocked my socks and left me all dazed and confused. I do not regret watching Scandal from day 1. Nope. I could watch Cy and his rants alone and be satisfied.

My underlying theme question is and always has been: does Fitz actually love Olivia? After last week’s episode I believed he did and now this with the not ever filing for re-election. I’m back to believing it’s purely a proprietary, territorial thing for him at this point.

Also, I believe Olivia has suspected David and has somehow made sure he’s gotten the wrong card

  68. […] Luvvie‘s Awesome recap of Scandal episode 221: RICHEA. In which she dubs John Barrowman’s character “Molivia Nope” bwahahahaha! So damb […]

  69. May 13, 2013 at 12:44 am

So Olivia’s hair….in 220, weren’t they galivanting in the shower exchanging Hi’s with no shower cap in sight?

Fast forward to the beginning of 221, they’re in bed, I’m presuming it’s the next morning, and her hair is did.

WHEN/HOW did that happen? Did they take the time out from making the beast with two backs to do her hair? Did Fitz watch?

    Magic Hair!

a.) next week’s episode is called White Hats Back On, so maybe david might redeem himself next week.

b.) I don’t think billy is the mole/albatross, whoever he is working for is albatross, the whole billy and david ending is probably apart of the double twist to throw us all off.
