Kanye West Calls Out Fan in Wheelchair For Not Standing Up at Concert. Ugh.

Kanye West is a giant douchecanoe. So many antics, so little accountability and people got so many excuses for him (he’s a genius. He’s misunderstood. He lost his mother). The latest in a long list of “WTF, Kanye?” is what happened at a concert he had on Friday in Sydney, Australia.

After Kanye wrapped “Good Life” he stopped and told everyone to get on their feet before he goes on to the next song. He scans the arena and finds 2 people who are still seated. The crowd boos and chants “stand up, stand up” while Kanye zeroes in on the pair. Not shown in the video but it’s said that one of the people had a prosthetic limb and she waved it to show Kanye.

Watch the video below.

Ye says “This is the longest I’ve had to wait to do this song. It’s unbelievable.” What’s unbelievable is this God complex he has. Sorry that the person in a wheelchair can’t heal himself fast enough for you, Lord West!

That is followed by “If he is in a wheelchair, then it’s fine.” He then asks the section if he’s really in a wheelchair. They all yell “YES.” That is when he believes it and keeps going with the concert. 1 minute and 45 seconds after he stopped. One long minute and forty-five seconds of complete insensitivity.

First of gahtdamb all, if I paid my good money to come to a concert, it is my prerogative to glue my yansh to my seat and not move. Why do I need to come to something that I paid for to be entertained just to be on my feet? What part of the game is that? If all I wanna do is listen to your music, take a nap, file my nails, IT IS MY RIGHT! I paid.

This is why I don’t do concerts unless it’s the kind where I’m sitting down, theater style. I just wanna jam in my seat and ain’t nobody gon insist that my grown ass get up. I DON’T WANT TO. Talmbout he can’t go on unless everyone is standing. Well I guess we’re all just gonna be looking at each other in silence for some time, then. I don’t mind.

No Dr Evil gif

It’s like Steve Harvey said on Kings of Comedy. Rap concerts take too much work for people in the audience. All them instructions. “Stand up.” “Scream.” “Wave your hands in the air.” ALL THIS CARDIO! You entertain me. “Motherfucker I paid $32.50. YOU SCREAM.” Shit.

Then for Kanye to insist on pointing people out who refuse to get up is just hella presumptuous of him. He clearly ASSUMES that everyone is able so I understand he wasn’t being malicious. But it is in that assumption that the problem lies. He didn’t even consider that there might be people who can’t physically get up upon demand.

What was the most cringe-worthy was the fact that Kanye made the audience wait so his team could verify that these 2 people were indeed disabled. One of the people seated had a prosthetic limb and the other was in a wheelchair. They already have to move around in a world that doesn’t always consider their needs. As if they don’t have to deal with being stared at everyday for being disabled. Or talked down to. At the concert, Kanye further other-ed them when he had thousands of people staring and waiting for them to prove that they are different. That is humiliating. “Prove to me that you are not able.” That’s some boolsheet.

Would they like to stand up? Maybe or maybe not. Can they? Nope. Why do they need to prove this? Who the hell is Kanye and what bold horse did he ride in on? You dustrocket. So much nerve! I don’t see the excuse for this.

Nene no no no gif

In 10 years, some folks are still gonna be like “well you know Kanye lost his mother.” Yes. He did. That was really tragic and I feel for him (and anyone else who has lost theirs). However, that is not a “Get Out of Asshole Behavior Forever Free” Card. How long before we start insisting that maybe Kanye is just a jerk who refuses to do better? Is it ok to point out that maybe Kanye is just an immature, pompous, overly entitled and spoiled “genius” whose music is no longer even good enough to excuse this behavior? Even if it’s not, I’m still gon say it.

Worry about yourself, Kanye! Maybe if you moved people enough through your music and performance, you won’t have to insist that the only people who can stay seated are those who are LITERALLY unable to stand up. Handing out petty ultimatums to folks who paid to see him rap. Chile, bye.

Someone needs to gather Kanye because he is perpetually doing the most with the least now. Mr. Kardashian-West is officially a nuisance.

The excuses people come up with for Kanye’s behavior KILL me. “He lost his mother”. Wrong. He was a narcissistic douche BEFORE his mother passed. “Blame the Kardashians”. Wrong. He was a narcissistic douche before he hooked up with the clan. Bottom line is, Kanye is, was, and always will be an egomaniacal, narcissistic douchebag. Period.

      TRUTH!!!

First of all, (because I’m immature as hell) the image of someone waving a prosthetic limb in the air made me snicker a bit. Because it’s just so damb ridiculous……..as far as Kanye losing his mom, that’s awful but not an excuse. Jennifer Hudson lost most of her family in one terrible, tragic instance and you don’t see her out here shaming people into belting out “you’re gonna love me” with her. Kanye is an asshat, pure and simple.

Listen! This is probably why I am not all into rap music today. Because I am purposefully disobedient. Like I DARE you, no I DOUBLE DOG DARE you to challenge me to a battle of wills. You will leave that stage before I leave my seat and I will be the first to get that entire stadium against you and ask for our money back. You better get to the next song. Hell I don’t put on my good outfit – stuff is cutting off circulation and you want me to do extra stuff. You aint God and this ain’t the color purple. I can sit down if I want to.

Please put him on the ship to Mars so that he never comes back to earth. That’s just ridiculous. Even if the people could stand, they don’t have to b/c they paid to watch a show not a workout. I can’t stand narcissistic people! Ugh!!!!

I would pay GOOD money to be on the Luvvie field trip to a Kanye concert where we all glue our yanshes to the seat until Tom Cruise comes home with a Best Actor Oscar. I would looooove to see what happens. I might be waving something, but it sure as hell would not be my prosthetic limb.

      September 15, 2014 at 4:46 pm

When he first came out he kind of changed the rap game, Cause it stuff was different form what was hot at the time. Before that he was a really influential songwriter and producer. However the more famous he got the more he started to believe his hype and no could or would check him. So his music has suffered and is no longer that great.

“Is it ok to point out that maybe Kanye is just an immature, pompous, overly entitled and spoiled genius whose music is no longer even good enough to excuse this behavior? Even if it’s not, I’m still gon say it.”
Did someone scramble the part of his brain where logic and reason reside when they were bolting his jaw back together all those years ago?

Kanye hasn’t been relevant since the College Dropout album. Can we send a pox and plague to his front door and wish him good riddance?

  14. Mary
    September 15, 2014 at 1:18 pm

I completely agree. Sadly, I used to be one of his supporters who made excuses for him. NO LONGER! He’s had enough time to grieve. I can’t even make an excuse for this. He is just being an asshole for no reason. He could have at least said sorry or something for holding up the show and subsequently making people feel bad.

And you’re completely right, his music isn’t even good to substantiate this behavior.

I tried to hang on as long as I could. But I’m just over him (and his wife- who is still watching the “Kardashians”? STOP IT!!)

Truly, I believe that every time a performer demands that the audience do something during a concert that the audience members paid to see, the performers should give pro-rated refunds. Maybe the egomaniacs will rethink their jobs and just do the damn show.

Megalomaniac. The College Dropout, Late Registration and Graduation are great albums that I still listen to, so I can deal with people calling him a musical genius, but his new music is terrible (or maybe it’s just not my style…lots of people seem to like it) and he’s developed a really strange God complex. I truly think he is suffering from undiagnosed mental illness. He needs to get help.

  19. sbee3
    September 15, 2014 at 2:41 pm

I completely agree, he’s out of control. I have never purchased a CD of us, but I did go to Lollapalooza in Chicago to see him. It was lackluster, and I was glad Common, and a few others were there so I didn’t feel like I lost money. I think it’s amazing that he can act like that, and still make bank. I mean, maybe America is only post-racial for him, because, wow…

  20. September 15, 2014 at 2:58 pm

Kanye will be throwing baseballs at blind people next, to make sure that’s really why they aren’t amazed at his show.

This is why you never get high on your own supply.

Kanye’s ego and antics are eclipsing his talent. As a Chicagoan, I try to always root for the home team (with the exception of Ol Pissy aka R Kelly) but I cannot with Kanye. I miss the brilliant and confident dude not that his egomanic.

You know…I’ve been a huge fan of C00n-ye’s since Late Registration but began to notice his acting out after the death of his mother. It was tragic and avoidable and my heart went out to him but this behavior (especially since his marriage) is for the birds. I remember reading an interview that Amber Rose did after they split and she said that when initiating sex with her he would simply say “I’m ready for sex”. Whaaaaa???? I’m so over him as an artist.

    NEXT!

  33. September 16, 2014 at 2:05 pm

One of my “friends”/Ye Stan came up with every excuse in the book about this foolishment! Talking bout how Kayne pours his heart & soul into his music and performances, yada yada yada. I told him, “I just hope that you & I are never at the same Kanye concert or you’re gonna be pretty pissed that you didn’t hear The Good Life. Cuz I’m sitting on this here ass as long as I desire!” #YeezusNeedsJesus

Let me say though. I WISH he would come to the Caribbean and try that on. Especially in Jamaica. Can someone please invite him to Sumfest and let him try that? Please? They would bottle him to hell and back.

  37. howlingbanshee
    October 2, 2014 at 8:07 am

    Yes.
    All of the above.
Also, I loves me some Kelly Rowland, but I always found Destiny’s Child performances aggravating to watch because she was the one always pointing her microphone at the audience telling them to sing.

No, darling; you’re the one getting paid for this.
    You sing.

But Kanye done took it to a-whole-nother spiritual realm.

P.S. Don’t you hate it when people judge you for saying “a-whole-nother” and then they turn around and say something like “abso-*ucking-lutely”.
