I’m Not Playing Nice with Donald Trump

A week ago, the United States of America reminded the world that is has a lot of stupid people in it. And a lot of people who would put their race over their genders because they’ve internalized patriarchy. And a lot of people who are raging racists. And a lot of people would totally put a toddler at the wheel of an 18-wheeler.

Donald Trump and Barack Obama meeting

President Obama’s face is all our faces.

In the past week, we’ve seen the Trump Effect spread, as people reported getting slurs thrown at them, being spat on, and even jumped. Swastikas are being painted on sidewalks. Because we’re now living in Trump America, where the president elect himself is a couthless dustbucket, thereby setting a precarious example for a people who are already far too impressionable.

But what has been fascinating has been how the media and some notables have done a 180 turn and went from being fearful of Trump to now trying to normalize him. Folks are being all forgiving of his campaign this last 18 months, which ran on a platform of intolerance, ignorance and hate-mongering. Now, folks are all “hey let’s give him a chance.” Even Dave Chapelle ended his SNL monologue on that call to action.

GIVE WHAT A CHANCE??? That piss-flavored cotton candy wig wearing shrew?? Did we forget all of a sudden how fucked up that man is? The grabbing of pussies was just a month ago. His court case for fraud is upcoming.

donald-trump-white-nationalist

And as Trump has started to soften some of his wild ass stances, people are like “well maybe he won’t be so bad afterall.” Ummmm… the man just named Steve Bannon as his chief strategist. That’s the dude who ran Breitbart for a long time. He is horrific and anti anyone who isn’t a straight, white man. He is a white supremacist and that is the person who will have Trump’s ear. Soooooo yeah. FUCK THAT.

PLUS his VP is Mike Pence, who is so homophobic that I hope he is haunted by rainbows in his sleep.

Anywho, I went on a Twitter rant about this that captured my feels. It is below. The point is:

America, I’m Judging You. I didn’t think you’d be helping me write part 2 of my book so soon. But here we are. On the dawn of a new day.

What I really don’t get are those who, in the name of peace, are hoping for his success. Do you know what he and his fellow monster Pence want to do?? If they are successful on even part of their plans, that is a threat to the lives of many, if not, all marginalized lives in this US and beyond.

Between the attempts to normalize Trump and the calls for unity (which real talk means, it’s time for YOU PEOPLE to fall in line), I’m ready to throw hands.

How hard is it to understand that I will NEVER support someone who means to do harm to me and mine and has never made a secret of that fact. And that goes for trying to find “common ground” with his supporters.

        Trump won’t hurt us?

        He’s already:
        * made a propaganda chieftain for white supremacists his chief strategist.
        * appointed Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III, a man deemed too racist in Reagan’s America to be a judge, to be the Attorney General of the United States.
        * Settled a lawsuit for fraud for $25 million, because an actual judgment against him would have been much, much, more.
        * ushered in a kleptocracy by thumbing his nose at the obvious conflicts of interest, including his wife staying in his building in New York, him inviting foreign dignitaries to stay at his hotel in Washington, him being able to appoint his own landlord in said hotel, allowed his daughter to sit in on meetings with foreign officials, without having the clearance to do so, refused to put his business interests in a blind trust and will instead turn them over to his children… who are part of his transition team,
        * appointed a woman for Secretary of Education who has no experience in education
        * appointed Ben Carson for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, because… “urban”?
        * appointed Linda McMahon to be the head of the Small Business Administration – WWE jokes aside, look at the WWE’s history of gobbling up smaller wrestling territories in order to become the juggernaut and virtual monopoly that it is today, and look at how the WWE treats its employees
        * blamed a union president for jobs going over to Mexico
        * thumbed his nose at diplomatic protocols by holding meetings with Taiwan
        * spent more time tweeting about TV shows than he has attending daily security briefings.

…and this is all BEFORE his inauguration.

      • December 8, 2016 at 9:24 am

Also, his appointee for the head of the Environmental Protection Agency is…

…an attorney general who is currently suing the EPA.

No! Here’s what most don’t seem to realize: The line of succession is Vice President then Speaker of The House. That means, if orange hitler was killed, and pence was, then paul ryan becomes President. That’s just as horrifying.

The really sad part is, I have been saying since July that if that Expired Bottle of Sunny Delight (shout out to Trevor Noah!) was elected, the GOP would wait until after inauguration and kill Pence first which would then prompt Sniffles McPumpkin to chose ryan as his VP. If he didn’t, they would kill him, which means ryan becomes President with Priebus already in the white house as chief of staff and he’d then be named vice president. We can’t afford to forget that these republicans have gone out of the way to prove they have no morals, no decency, no actual skill at governing and certainly do not know God. They bring destruction every step of the way and won’t mind murdering the Walking Orange Cocaine Habit & the No-Gay-Wedding-Cakes dude to further their access to the one thing they DO worship…Power. This country is an embarrassment and they don’t even care.

The people I personally want to beat half to death are the millions who couldn’t be bothered to vote at all or who voted for a 3rd party candidate knowing the consequences. I pray right now that Ben Carson be the tour guide on EVERY trip they ever take, that he be their waiter in every restaurant, guest speaker at their church and office retreats, and that his sperm is accidentally implanted in their womb and they have a whiny, idiot child who cries reeeaaaallllyyyyy slllooooooowwwwllllyyyy! #PettyPrayersOnFleek

Thank you!!! I have been reminding people of this since he won the election. Once his administration is stacked, there is no turning back – every office that could possibly succeed to the presidency will be held by a Republican. I literally cried this morning when I realized that if we are bombed, invaded, etc. this fool and his family are going to be the people we struggle to save! We’re going to be scrambling trying to find some semblance of safety and these assholes are going to be in the bunker sipping mai tais and waiting for the dust to settle. WTentireF? I get this sentiment 100%. As far as I’m concerned, he could do a complete 180-degree about-face on every single issue he campaigned on as well as bring Prince back, healthy, from the grave and that would not change that he used the most despicable tools in the US playbook and won as a result. He has emboldened something that will not go away. In fact, if he does become more moderate that would likely further anger his base who feels entitled to their White Christian nation.

Naw Auntie, no swaying just for Prince. He’d have to bring back Prince, Luther, Michael Jackson, Muhammad Ali, Maurice White (Earth, Wind & Fire!!), Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Harriet Tubman, MOSES, Noah AND Adam, Eve & Able! (but not Cain since he was the original trump, ijs). :o)

This is one big clusterf*ck — and it’s only going to get worse. What kills me is that, because of the orange man’s crazy following, people like Rep. Ryan will find himself without the gavel soon. I won’t be surprised there’s an uprising by the toddlers on the House side and Ryan is punished for not jumping into bed with Trump sooner.

At this point, I am going to focus on how to make my world around me a better place — may it be through volunteering, becoming a mentor to a high school student and/or even going to a hospital to rock abandoned babies. I just need to do something.

At the very least, Trump is doing us a favor immediately with the appointment of Bannon. He is showing us exactly who he is and not luring us into a false sense of security. The move to be lured is strong, so we can move on with our lives after a truly exhausting year. But no. This is not normal. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. STAY AWAKE.

Preaching to the choir here obvs but whatever, we could all use a little church (synagogue/mosque/temple/reading room) these days 🙂

  13. November 15, 2016 at 10:21 am

Thank you, Luvvie, because hearing on the news how one by one people are coming over and claiming they now see the light of Trump begins Phase Two of Gaslighting America. We must protect ourselves from the pod people who are now emboldened to come out loud and without fear of societal consequence to act on “he just says what I think and now we are free to do the same!” Thank you, Luvvie.

What the hell is wrong with 2016?

  17. Jack o Clubs
    November 15, 2016 at 12:55 pm

    Imagine.

A large and powerful industrialized nation has just elected a man who appeals to the darkest and most irrational fears of one of its largest minorities. A minority that used to hold absolute power but has recently been somewhat marginalized by outside forces that it cannot control.

This nation’s internal security service apparatus has helped enable this horrific turn of events by releasing ominous sounding information about the man’s opponent only 10 days before the election. An unprecedented move that may have swung the election.

In the days immediately following this stunning turn of events, the victorious candidate moves to install a key man in his organization who controls propaganda instruments of the press controlled and by the party as one of his key cabinet-level advisors.

The mainstream press, still not yet beholden to him, and seemingly un-alarmed by these sinister events blithely reports all this like some kind of disinterested and uninvolved outsider. As if they were reporting business as usual. As if they were reporting on the goings-on of a nation an ocean away.

    Sound vaguely familiar?

    • Lorna
      November 16, 2016 at 3:03 pm

Yes, Jack, it sounds VERY familiar. :o(
I said on Election Night, “In March of 1933, Germany did it accidentally and then watched the rise of the man who would destroy millions of people and the country itself for several generations. And on November 8, 2016, the United States of America did the very same thing EXCEPT…They Did It On Purpose. With Malice Aforethought.

People wonder how dictators/fascists come into power. This is how. The “work with him” crowd is afraid of losing position, standing, etc. and is unwilling to sacrifice or risk standing firm against someone like this.

Also, note the stark contrast to when Obama was in office, and Mitch McConnell said, “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”

Who’s out there saying that about Trump? Where were the calls for unity from the folks touting “coming together as a country” now?
    I’ll wait.

    • November 15, 2016 at 2:58 pm

Exactly! This is the person who needs to be obstructed on every level. Republicans love power more than leading though so as long as they get to feast off of the carcass of America why bother trying to reign in the beast they created?

  20. Patrick

The press, the GOP, the right wingers all want to talk about the radicalization of Muslims.

The night of the election, my sixth-grade daughter was physically ill at the worry of dipshit president. (Oh, forgive the language. I refuse to give that dipshit more respect that that.) Not only was she worried for our own future here in this country as black people, but her friends. Many of them are Hispanic, Muslim, and LGBT. “Are they going to kill us? What if get separated and I can’t find you? What if they send us out of this country?” I’ve heard those sentiments echoed by all of those children. Dipshit doesn’t get a chance. It has frightened over half of this country and it has given false courage to those cowards who used their ballots to say the words they can’t bring themselves to say (except in crowds). No, dipshit does not get one inch.

Agreed, we can’t afford to play nice.

Here’s a link to a petition against Bannon’s appointment from Southern Poverty Law Center: https://www.splcenter.org/stephen-bannon-has-no-business-white-house

I’m also posting a link to this site: postTrump.help, where the author lists the phone numbers of Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and every person on the transition team who should be flooded with phone calls demanding that they refuse to confirm or support this pick. I know that these people don’t have our best interests at heart, so who knows if it makes a difference, but we can and should voice our dissent.

Luvvie, thank you for all that you do, it doesn’t go unnoticed and it matters.

I didn’t think I could be anymore disgusted by this election, but to see all of the people talmbout we gone be alright and to give this asshat a chance is making my stomach turn. If President Obama had acted the way that man did he never would have been elected.

His rallies were a racist cesspool. He doesn’t know how to govern. His university was a fraud. He talks about grabbing vagina. He started the false birther movement. He discriminated against black people when it came to renting his property and was sued for it. I could go on and on.

Over 60 million people used their power to elect someone that could validate their hate and self loathing. No, I will never give his ass a chance. He deserves every ounce of obstruction and strife as President Obama suffered through and more. Not for spite. No. Never that. He deserves it because it’s what he’s dished out. For 8+ years he talked about the president like a dog and anyone who tried to support him. He talked bad about the military, Mexicans, Muslims, women, you name it.

No, don’t give him a chance. If he doesn’t do right by this country he needs to receive a hard way to go and impeachment. So sick of him and he’s not even in office yet. 2020 can’t get here fast enough.

Amen and a big FUCK NO to “playing nice” aka Rolling Over and Looking Away. BTW I don’t see resistance as “going low,” I see it as raising our heads and our clenched fists out of the nasty stinking sewage sludge dumped on us by this man, his backers & minions, our fucking irresponsible media, and everyone who voted for him including my stunningly ignorant and blind-privileged white-woman cohorts. Fuck them all and fuck “nice” because if we don’t fight we’re dead. Maybe I’d be spared if I shut my mouth because I “pass” as a 50yo white cis woman, but I don’t want to be left living in a world ruled by Cheeto Ctulu.

So what to do exactly as the days roll on? Donate to orgs that fight back, Planned Parenthood, ACLU, Nat’l Resources Defense Fund and others you can think of. Those three fight for women’s issues, our civil rights and the environment.

What else? Buy subscriptions to newspapers that call out the Orange administration and the Republicans. Write letters to the editor of your local paper. Comment on blogs. Write your congressman and senators. and for now to get out the vote in the next election two years from now (if we are still alive!).

    New time, VOTE!

As I understand the rules of the American election process, a voter is entitled to vote for any eligible presidential candidate, or not vote at all. So you want to vilify people who exercised their rights, and rejected two candidates they considered bad news, and blame them for the result? The Democratic Party needs to accept responsibility for the results.
Hillary Clinton was a deeply flawed candidate, and remarkably more minorities trusted Trump more than any other republican candidate this century. He got 12 percent more Latino votes, 8 percent more black votes and 11 percent more Asian votes than Romney, McCain or Bush. I found those stats interesting since it paints a different picture than what we are told by the media.
As a Canadian I am amazed that people are getting angry at others for not voting the way thry did, but Im also fairly new to Canada, and maybe people are more polite to me because Im somewhat of an outsider.
With that said, I did enjoy your book and look forward to reading more of your work.

The Matrix isn’t my favorite movie for nothing. Let me up my work out game so I can fit nicely in my leather pants and tank top as I kick ass against the machine world.

I’m going to buy my sunglasses on my lunch break (from amazon.com, because a sister is on a budget) and I’m going to grow my hair out so it’ll look good in Nubian Knots (or maybe I’ll rock individual braids) since I know my relaxer will sweat out fast when I’m underground or in the heat of battle.

In the meantime, I’m waiting on word from the Oracle to let me know when it is time to quit my 9-5 and board the ship with Morpheus and ‘nem.

My bad…I meant Bantu Knots. Brain is multitasking on the resistance and everyday life.

Your rants are hilarious. The reason why many people are probably saying give him a chance is because the election is done and dusted. This is the calm before the storm. To say we accept Trump is defeat and to be honest, people have definitely taken him as a joke and now realise its a mistake.
