It’s World AIDS Day! Here’s 11 Reasons Why It Matters

YOOOO!!! So, today’s World AIDS Day, and the issue of HIV/AIDS is hella important to me (see: The Red Pump Project). And that’s why today, I’m traveling to Charlotte, NC for less than 24 hours today! I’ll be there for the 3rd annual Red Pump/Red Tie Affair, held by our amazing Charlotte ambassadors Jameka Whitten and Brittani Menina. I’m excited to finally make it to one because I’ve meant to go since 2009. If you’re in Charlotte, come! It’s going to be a great event! Get info on it HERE. I’ll be there in some red pumps!

Also to commemorate the day, I made a video about the 11 reasons why it matters that we recognize it. At the top of my list is that 34 million people are living with the disease around the world.

So, check out my very badly-edited video:

I told you I can’t edit worth a damb. I’m good at a lotta things. Like throwing side-eyes. And eating red velvet stuff. Editing videos, though? Nah. That’s my kryptonite. I’ma get a video intern one day. And good lighting. And locs that don’t have a mind of their own.

And shourrout to me for losing count. I’m so doggone senile sometimes. WHO LOSES COUNT WHEN GOING TO 11??? THIS GUY. Smh. I’ma go take some vitamins or something.

Oh, and this picture below is from the Red Pump t-shirt shoot we had with ChuckStr Photography last year. He caught us in a candid moment of juke during the shoot and this awesomely foolish yet FANTASTIC pic was the result. Iunno WHAT jig I was doing. SMH. (I’m the one in the Red Chucks). But I love this pic. So I wanted to throw it in.

Our t-shirt line is on hiatus for now. We’re re-launching it early 2012.

Let’s treat everyday like World AIDS Day so we won’t have to end up on STDFriends.com because HIV doesn’t know date, name, class, color. Get tested, my peoples! And stay safe out here.

How are you commemorating World AIDS Day?

    Yer Mostest Awesomelynessis,
That was a very powerful video for me personally.
    Really touched my heart.
Couldn’t take my eyes off of it.
I must have watched it at least 4 times in a row.

Then I realized I had the volume turned off.
