I Want Red Velvet Oreos to Be Real So Bad AND THEY ARE!

Yall know I love all things red velvet. Red velvet cupcakes, cheesecake, cookies, waffles, pancakes, hot chocolate… I am the  bubba Gumb of red velvet. This is why in the past 48 hours, so many people have sent me this picture.

Red Velvet Oreo

Everyone has sent me this SAME picture and I Googled and wasn’t able to find out anything about OREO officially coming out with a red velvet flavor with cream cheese filling.

BUT I WANT IT TO BE REAL SO BAD SO I CAN BUY EVERY BAG!!!

Hear my cry, oh Lord! All this pumpkin spice madness… blah. But THIS? This is deliciousness I can stand behind. I need all my sleuths to find out for me if this is real. And one of yall might work for Nabisco so go ask your boss and come back and let me know. I should even tweet @Oreo and find out. Yes, it’s that serious.

The red velvet game is not a game. Not with me. NOT WITH ME.

So I’ll be waiting. If these aren’t real, well I might need to start a Change.org petition to tell Nabisco to get it together and make my life right.

P.S. Red velvet onion rings and fried chicken exists. Yup.

P.P.S. Done. Now we wait.

Updates:

1. I am still waiting on Oreo to reply to my tweet.

b. Someone commented and said their they know someone who works for Nabisco and that it is indeed real (and coming out soon).

iii. Someone else tweeted me that this is going to be released Valentine’s Day 2015.

I will keep yall updated on anything else I hear. This is important.

More Updates:

a.  My tweet to Oreo has made it on Snopes. I don’t know whether to be ashamed or proud.

ii. Nabisco is neither confirming nor denying this. We will have to play the waiting game I see.

CONFIRMING Update (Jan 20, 2015):

RED VELVET OREOS ARE REAL AND THEY’RE COMING! I’ve been getting pics from an insider at Nabisco for the past couple of months of Red Velvet Oreos being unboxed.

Red Velvet Oreos

AND THEN today even TIME Magazine is confirming that they will be in stores on February 2, 2015. TOLD YALL!

Rejoice.

  8. October 20, 2014 at 2:34 pm

    Luvvie,

So I don’t even like Oreos, except the lemon ones – those are the bomb, but i would buy a pack of these and dare someone else to eat one. I have a feeling I’ll be let down but I would still try it.

I might need your address so I can ship you some of my red velvet white chocolate chip cookies I make at Christmas.

The best red-velvet cake I’ve ever eaten in life came from Diddy’s mama’s soulfood restaurant in downtown Brooklyn. They were only there for two years, but every time I walked in, they reached for the cake, because they KNEW what was up!

Wow! You took it back to Mama Dukes! I forgot all about that place. I wonder if the Red Velvet cake she sold was from Cake Man Raven.

    Sherbet Ladies! Come forth!

Somebody, SOMEWHERE, got some bomb-@$$ homemade red-velvet sammich cookies with creme cheese filling, and y’all need to crank up that hustle.
That’s your financial breakthrough right there!
I’ll send Peaches, Red, Black, Spanky, and K-Ki, TJ, JJ, DJ, Sha’Roniqua, DeVontae and Imhotep Barack Luther King down the street to your house, money in hand, to buy up AAALLLLLLL them Red Velvet Hood Oreos for me, my Mamma’Nem, my Daddy’nem, Auntie, Big Ma, and Ol’ Uncle Nicodemus.

It’s so funny that you get the same reaction from your friends! I have people asking me hourly about these cookies because of the knowledge that I’m in love with Oreos!

  14. October 20, 2014 at 7:59 pm

    These need to happen.

Also, I approve of your plan to start a Change.org petition. Working there might bias me a little bit about that, though… 😀

Oh Lawd Jeezus please let this come to fruition! My adopted daughter (my daughter’s bff) is a red velvet cake fanatic! Obsessed, even! We made 7 dozen red velvet cupcakes for her engagement party (ok, I made them…I went to culinary school but dropped out due to health problems). I’ve tried the pumpkin spice Oreo’s and they’re amazeballs with a side of awesomesauce! I’m going to follow you for updates. I’m in for a petition AND waiting outside Nabisco for an answer. All I need is a chair, port-a-potty and Diet Mt. Dew and I’ll wait forever!

Yes!!! People are finally realizing how wonderful this flavor is!!! Some of the best Red Velvet unexpected desserts : Blue Bunny’s Red Velvet ice cream; Red Velvet M&Ms (V. Day limited edition) and the Texas fair had Fried Red Velvet cupcakes!! Oh, if this cookie is real!!!!

I could not have dairy, but once My gallbladder came out, in went the dairy! And RV ice cream was my first find. Ended up with an extra 7 pounds that I solely blame on that stuff! I recently started making red velvet banana bread!! Talk about yum!!

I called the company that owns the Nabisco Brand and they won’t give me an answer. Their response was, “we have no information on that brand or product”. When I asked who could I speak to as a Consumer and get a definitive answer as to whether this Cookie flavor is real? I was told anyone I speak to will give me same vague answer. I tried.

They are currently available in select stores and locations. I have a friend that lives in Cleveland and has already tried it and agreed to mail me a box! (I too love red velvet flavored anything.)

      Well played, Nabisco.
Old school test marketing would have cost too much, creating the prototype, getting focus groups to test it out, etc.
Now all it takes is a manipulated image to gauge demand and profit potential for your product.
      We’ve all been played, y’all.
They done got some research, development, and marketing services outta ALL US…for FREE!
If they do make those doggone red velvet Oreos, I’m boycotting them in favor of the Revolutionary Red (black and green) Velvet Sammich Cookies by Sherbet Lady, Incorporated – right round the corner at Auntie Odell’s house.
If I’m gon spend money on artery-clogging junk food, at the very least those dollars can circulate back into the community and pay for Imhotep Barack Luther King’s chess club dues.

  25. October 22, 2014 at 4:39 am

Lol, you really do love red velvet. That would be pretty fun to have red velvet oreos, though 🙂

Yes dear they are real. Nabisco sent out an urgent email to their reps warning them not to discuss them. They are due out in February for sure. I work in a grocery store and spoke to the rep for our store officially. He said somebody leaked the photo and whoever did will definitely get fired for it.

I just picked a bag up from Target! I went in there for one thing and got caught UP! Ya’ll know what a tender trap Target is. All i needed was some scrubbing bubbles (cuz you know a sista can’t stand no dirty tub) and ended up with all kinds of everything else!

They have them at the back in the aisle @ the grocery store. I was laughing as I passed. Buy three packs & you get a free gallon of milk. The Bowie State students will be thrilled. The packs are half the regular size!

I ran across these in good ol’ Gary, Indiana just the other day, and I had to grab a package of them. I must say that I don’t ever relly like Oreos like that, but I had to see if these were different.

Chile’, I wasn’t ready…at all. I had to put them down before I needed Oreo rehab…of course, I’m going back to the store and getting some more tomorrow (don’t judge me…).
