So I Watched the Democratic Debate (#DemDebate)

Democratic Debate 2015

It was the first Democratic candidate debates in what is sure to be a looonngggg, slow and torturous campaign season. The Republicans already showed their asses like twice and they’ve tried to out-offend each other. So this debate was long overdue.

To be honest, I didn’t feel like watching TV last night. Like none of it. But I knew I’d feel like an irresponsible citizen not to. Also, I don’t like feeling left out. So I jumped on the Twitters to join everyone else watching and spent 2.5 hours chronicling the shenanigans and finding the shade as Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley, Jim Webb (who?), and Lincoln Chafee (WUT?) took to the stage. Anderson Cooper’s FINE ass moderated.

There were 2 favorite moments of mine during the debates. One of them was when O’Malley was talmbout something I completely forgot and it was directed to Hillary. When Anderson turns to Hill and asks her if she wants to respond, HRC simply said “No.” I got my life. She used it as a complete sentence and it was the perfect Giver of No Dambs retort.

The other when Hillary Clinton was asked about her emails and she talked about how she’s already turned over 55,000 pages worth. Bernie jumps in to say that America is sick and tired about hearing about the gahtdamb emails, and we’re worrying about the wrong shit. Hillary appreciated it and shook his hand. I LOVE IT.

Hillary Clinton Bernie Sanders shake hands DemDebate

That momentary show of camaraderie made me smile. I’m getting soft in my (not so) old age.

Let me know your thoughts on the debate in the comments!

Webb crying about not getting his correct allotment of time, Chafee licking his chapped lips like he was a dog looking at freshly grilled pork chops (GET SOME BURT’S BEES!), and O’Malley looking like a guy who drives a van that says “FREE CANDY!” on the side. At least they didn’t call each other names or whine about the moderators being mean to them. Fun following along and tweeting alongside you!

Bernie Sanders has my vote. He’s the only one who doesn’t totally hate Black folks.

“It was the first Democratic candidate debates in what is sure to be a looonngggg, slow and torturous campaign season.” At first I thought you meant tortuous, as in long, winding and circuitous, but in retrospect, I think “torturous” is more than appropriate…. This campaign is sho nuf torture.
