My 2016 Golden Globes Recap: Live-tweets Edition

The Golden Globes does not have a reputation for being super exciting but it kicks off awards season and often, we have Amy Poehler and Tina Fey hosting so we’re excited to see them. This year, Ricky Gervais hosted, and he spent the entire time drunk and seemingly angry about being paid 50 times some people’s annual salaries to wear a suit and read lines he didn’t even have to write. Poor guy. It must be really hard to be begged and overpaid to whine for two hours.

Ricky Gervais Golden Globes 2016

Rich, white men have such a tough time with things. Bless them.

The 2016 Golden Globes was long and boring. SO DAMB BORING. I woulda written a highlights and lowlights post but let me save myself the trouble. Highlights: America Ferrera and Eva Longoria mocking Hollywood for thinking all Latina stars are the same, Denzel Washington letting us know he really IS Uncle Denzel as he accepted his Lifetime Achievement Award, and Taraji P. Henson basically being Cookie as she accepted her award, handing out cookies and telling the producers they gon give her all the time she wants. Lowlights: everything else.

Anywho, below are my tweets from the show. I lasted 2.5 hours before quitting, so please applaud my perseverance. I’m the person who quit the race as I can see the finish line because I just wanna take a nap in my lane.

I may be in the minority but I preferred Ricky the first time around when he insulted and pissed off nearly everybody. This time around feels like he toned it down. Like he said, “eff it, I’mma just show up and collect my check.”

Also one mid – level highlight (midlight?) was Jaimie Foxx calling Quetin Tarantino out on his use of the word “Ghetto”.

Overall boring show, just confirms my decision to skip the Oscars. I’ll watch the red carpet to see the clothes, but dassit!

Ricky was HILARIOUS that first time. I had never laughed so much during an awards show. This time around, he just seemed too drunk to give a damb. I’m DEFINITELY watching the Oscars though. Chris Rock better come with it and not pull a Ricky, or I’ll be mad as hell.

I refused to start with this mess. I knew the real stuff would be the reviews, and even that took seconds. Only thing worth watching over (and OVER) was Leo’s reaction to Lady Gaga’s win interrupting his chat at his table. Not even paying attention, redefining the concept of cannot even spell fucks to give.
