It’s About to be Wakanda Weekend Cuz Black Panther is Out on Digital!

It’s been three months since Marvel Studios dropped Black Panther and the film came through and stole all our hearts in its’ boldness, brilliance and overall BAWSINESS. It has been three months since I became an official citizen of Wakanda, and I hail my king T’Challa and my duchesses, the Dora Milajes. I give props to my Earl M’Baku and tip my hat to the Princess Shuri. WATTUP NAKIA! Them my peoples.

Black Panther Digital DVD Release copy

Honestly, this film is still sitting on my mind. It’s broken so many records that you might as well just call it the biggest movie that ever movied.

  • Highest-grossing first week of any Marvel movie
  • Top-Grossing Opening Weekend for a Film With a Predominately Black Cast
  • Biggest February Opening of All Time
  • First Film Since ‘Avatar’ to Spend Five Consecutive Weeks at Top of Box Office
  • Highest-Grossing Superhero Film in the U.S., Ever

We are all obsessed with this film. I wrote a tome of a review of the film. Read: On Wakanda: My Black Panther Review. I quote the movie. I have begun collecting pop dolls of my favorite characters to display in my office. I’ve bought t-shirts. I think I’m about to start calling my house “The Royal Palace of Wakanda.” We’ve made Chadwick Boseman do the Wakanda Forever sign so much that he looks like a little part of him wants to cuss us all out if we ask him to do it again.

This is why I am SUPER GEEKED because it is now available for us to watch over and over again at our leisure, in the comforts of our own couches, in our Auntie and Uncle robes.

Black Panther movie is officially out on digital platforms today (May 8, 2018)! That means you can buy it and watch! And those of you who still have DVD players (hey Mom!) can grab a copy next week, May 15, at retailers. There are a bunch of behind the scenes footage and tons of extra stuff we didn’t see in theaters. You’ll see deleted clips and get all the tea on what it took to make the $200 million blockbuster. Cast interviews aplenty.

See this bit about how Danai Gurira and

trained.

YES MA’AM! Give me ALLLLLL the extras!

One of my favorite scenes in the film was Warrior Falls, where T’Challa is crowned king. The colors, the music, the way the people became the set. I literally gasped when I saw it.It was truly a feast for your eyes. And then I felt like I was holding my breath through it, as T’Challa got the challengers he really wasn’t ready for in M’Baku. That’s one of the extra scenes we learn about.

It’s like, they just spoil us with more.

You can now buy Black Panther on Digital! You will be able to pick your platform like iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Videos etc. Hit that drop down button right next to “Digital” and all the options will show to you.

Anywho, to celebrate this occasion, I am partnering with the good folks of Marvel Studios to throw a Watch Party this Friday, on May 11 at home. I wanted to bring my squad together for a trip back to Wakanda, to relive the glory of it all. Me and 20 of my closest baes will be at my place, eating popcorn and getting our entire lives.

Starting at 6pm CT on Friday, May 11, you can tune into my shenanigans on social (especially Instagram Stories). I’ll be bringing you along for the arrival of my friends (who I guarantee you will be late because they’re the worst), whatever folks decide to put on for the occasion and how we lose our minds as we watch the movie. Follow me on Instagram at @Luvvie.

Luvvie Black Panther Wakanda Watch Party

I’m inviting you to do the same. Join me this weekend to throw a Black Panther watch party wherever you live! Get your folks together, buy a digital copy of the film, download it to your TV and let the good times roll! It’s about to be a Wakanda-ful weekend.

If you decide to throw a party and share on social, use the hashtag #WakandaForever so we can keep up with it!

Let’s get it! And yeah, cop your copy! As for me, I’m definitely getting the DVD too. And can’t nobody ever open it. It’s just gon sit on my shelf as a monument of melanin magic. I want us to break records with this digital and DVD release. We are Wakandans, hear us roar!

Disclosure: I’ve partnered with Marvel Studios for this post but all opinions, geekery and hollering is mine.

Already pre-ordered the DVD, bluray AND movie poster from my Disney Movie Rewards account. My kids are just gonna have to watch this movie as homework every Saturday until I launch them off to college 🙂

      Omg, you too?
My two sons, I’m certain, think I have gone bonkers. I even quiz them on the “all the stars” video…welp.
