On this episode, I’m feeling good about learning I have a little namesake out there in the world, I’m ranting about how it should not be a revolutionary ask to wash our hands in the middle of a pandemic, and since we need some good trash TV to watch right now, I’m spotlighting Love is Blind on Netflix.

Feel Good

I felt amazing when I recently learned that I have a little namesake out there in the world. Liberty-Grace Luvi. Her mom let me know they gave Liberty-Grace her middle name because of me, and I’m so honored.

I think about how the work we’re doing now is to ensure that the world these little girls grow up in is one that will be kinder to them, more gentle with them and more affirming to their existence. I want Liberty-Grace to grow up unburdened in ways we didn’t have the chance. ⁣For her to carry my name is an honor. These are the things that ensure we keep going when it gets rough.

My Rant

If you’re one of the bunch of nasty people who don’t wash their hands we just learned about thanks to Coronavirus, I’m judging you right now.

How is this a thing? Not washing your hands? I don’t understand how this is a revolutionary ask. And I feel like my innocence was taken after seeing the lines that are popping up at men’s public bathrooms now because guys are taking the time to wash their hands. What was happening before? I feel like I don’t want to touch anyone ever again. We can Wakanda Forever until the end of time.

My Randomness

This week, I’m spotlighting Love is Blind on Netflix. It’s this TV show where people start dating each other through these pods where they can’t see each other’s faces. Through connecting via voice alone, they have to make the decision whether or not they should get engaged to the person on the other side. I ended up binge-watching it in two days, it is such trash and it is the best thing ever. I love it so much.

I think right now, we need mindless entertainment. We need things that will bring us some type of levity. This is the perfect fit.

My Guest: June Ambrose

My guest this week is iconic celebrity stylist, fashion designer, and author June Ambrose. We’ve been trying to get her on the show for a while now, and I’m so glad she’s finally here.

June has been in the game for over 20 years, styling the most A-list of A-list people – Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Gabrielle Union and more. She’s behind the one-of-a-kind looks for music videos like “‘Mo Money, ‘Mo Problems” and “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” by Missy Elliott, and most recently, the SZA/Justin Timberlake video for the new Trolls movie.

But she wasn’t always in the fashion industry. She got her start in finance and says that foundation prepared her to be an entrepreneur and a CEO.

June has set the standard in fashion for years and is truly responsible for elevating the role of the celebrity stylist to what it is today. She has learned how to evolve while being confident enough to take control of a room and humble enough to give every client she works with her very best. All while building a brand of her own and raising two amazing kids.

We need to step into who we are and be free to express and create and make our voices heard now more than ever. June is absolutely incredible, and I hope you’re inspired to consume the room when you walk in like June does.

Make sure you’re following June everywhere on these interwebs. Her website is at JuneAmbrose.com, and she’s on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at @juneambrose.

Much love to Chicago Recording Company, where I record each episode!
